Antiguo Cuscatlán (colloquially known as Antiguo) is a municipality in the La Libertad department of El Salvador, and its eastern tip lays in San Salvador Department part of the Metropolitan Area of San Salvador, southwest of San Salvador and southeast of Santa Tecla. The population was 48,027 at the 2010 census. Antiguo Cuscatlán can be translated as Old Jeweled City: Antiguo means ancient or old in Spanish, and Cuscatlán means jeweled city in Nahuat. The city used to be the capital of the Pipil or Cuzcatecs, before the Spanish conquest of the New World. The historic downtown sits on the foothills of La Cordillera del Bálsamo, and the city extends towards the Cordillera del Bálsamo on the south and on the foothills of the San Salvador Volcano on the north. The estimated per capita income for the city was $22,783 in 2013, which is 5.9 times higher than the national per capita (nominal).

The German School of San Salvador (Spanish: Escuela Alemana de San Salvador; German: Deutsche Schule San Salvador) is a K-12 private institution in Antiguo Cuscatlán, El Salvador, in the San Salvador metropolitan area. The school stands out in their PAES scores, being among the top ranked schools in the country.

José Simeón Cañas Central American University (Spanish: Universidad Centroamericana "José Simeón Cañas"), also known as UCA El Salvador, is a private university with nonprofit purposes in San Salvador, El Salvador, run by the Society of Jesus. It was founded on September 15, 1965, at the request of a group of Roman Catholic families who appealed to the Salvadoran government and the Society of Jesus in order to create another university as an alternative to the University of El Salvador, becoming the first private institution of higher education in the country. The Jesuits also run Central American University in Nicaragua (UCA Managua), opened in 1960.

Cuzcatlan (Nawat: Kuskatan) (Nahuatl: Cuzcatlan) was a pre-Columbian Nahua state confederation of the Mesoamerican postclassical period that extended from the Paz river to the Lempa river (covering most of western El Salvador); this was the nation that Spanish chroniclers came to call the Pipils or Cuzcatlecos. No codices survive that shed light on this confederation except the Annals of the Cakchiquels, although Spanish chroniclers such as Domingo Juarros, Palaces, Lozano, and others claim that some codices did exist but have since disappeared. Their Nawat language, art and temples revealed that they had significant Mayan and Toltec influence from the ties they had with the Itza in Yucatan. It is believed that the first settlers to arrive came from the Toltec people in central Mexico, mostly Puebla during the Chichimeca-Toltec civil wars in the 10th century AD. The people of Cuzcatan came to be called Pipiles in the historical chronicles, a term that today is usually translated as "boys" or less likely as "young nobles." This was due to the perception of the Central Nahuatl-speaking Tlaxcala and Mexica allies of the Spanish that the Nahuas of Cuzcatan were speaking a corrupted version of their language in those regions. An alternative theory is that it meant "nobles," from the Nahuas social class "Pipiltin" and the Nawat Pipil origin story that they are descendants of Nanahuatzin.

Multiplaza is a chain of shopping malls, owned by Grupo Roble of El Salvador (the real estate subsidiary of Grupo Poma), in Central America.

The San Salvador El Salvador Temple is the 135th temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). It is the fourth temple to be built in Central America and the first in El Salvador.

Casa Presidencial, or "Presidential House" in the Spanish language, is the President of El Salvador's official residence and his offices.

La Capilla 515 is an apartment complex in San Benito, San Salvador. It is one of the tallest apartment structures in the country. The building was constructed by Inversiones Bolivar, a Salvadorian construction and architecture company.

The Monument to the Reconciliation (Spanish: Monumento a la Reconciliación) was a monument which existed in El Salvador from 2017 until its demolition in 2024. The monument, which was designed by sculptor Napoleón Alberto Escoto, commemorated the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Chapultepec Peace Accords which ended the Salvadoran Civil War. It was inaugurated by President Salvador Sánchez Cerén in January 2017 and was demolished by the Ministry of Public Works in January 2024.

The Hospital El Salvador is a major hospital in San Salvador, El Salvador, and is planned to be the largest hospital in Latin America. The first phase was constructed between March and June 2020 as a conversion of the International Fair and Convention Center (Centro Internacional de Ferias y Convenciones, CIFCO) and forms part of El Salvador's response to the COVID-19 pandemic, exclusively receiving COVID-19 patients. Originally intended to be temporary, it was announced in June 2020 that the hospital conversion would be made permanent. In its first phase, the hospital has 400 available beds, a number which was expected to increase to 2,000 total beds upon completion of phase 3 of construction. However, phase 3 was not opened as a hospital and instead served as a vaccination facility.

The Captain General Gerardo Barrios Military School (Spanish: Escuela Militar Capitán General Gerardo Barrios), abbreviated as the EMCGGB, is a military academy in El Salvador. It was established in 1868 and is named after Captain General Gerardo Barrios who served as President of El Salvador from 1859 to 1863. It is located in Antiguo Cuscatlán, Santa Tecla, La Libertad.

The National Stadium of El Salvador (Spanish: Estadio Nacional de Salvador) will be a multi-purpose stadium in Antiguo Cuscatlán, El Salvador. The stadium will bulit on the site of the current Escuela Militar Capitán General Gerardo Barrios. It will be the second modern sport and event arena to be built in Central America. The stadium will begin construction in 2022 and will have a capacity of 50,000. The stadium will replace the Estadio Cuscatlán, and will be the home stadium of the El Salvador national football team.It will have a hotel outside the stadium, auditorium, medical clinic, rooms inside the stadium, administrative offices, and a multi-sports area outside the stadium with beach soccer, basketball courts, fast soccer fields.
