Žbelava is a village in Croatia. It is connected by the D2 highway. In 1946 it was in a war with Donji Kućan and won. Donji Kućan was since then a part of Žbelava. Žbelava was led by the mighty car Bobi.

Lake Varaždin (Croatian: Varaždinsko jezero) is a reservoir on the Drava in northern Croatia. It is administratively divided between Međimurje County and Varaždin County, bordered by the municipalities of Varaždin, Trnovec Bartolovečki and Čakovec. The Drava flows into the reservoir near the city of Varaždin, while the dam is located near the village of Šemovec. Lake Varaždin is one of three reservoirs built on the Drava in Croatia, the other two being the smaller Lake Ormož (which is located on the border with Slovenia) and the bigger Lake Dubrava. The three reservoirs and the power plants they serve form the Hydro North group of hydro power plants run by the HEP Group. It serves the Čakovec Hydro Power Plant, since the Varaždin Hydro Power Plant is served by Lake Ormož. The power plant was built in 1982.

Bartolovec is a village in Varaždin County, Croatia. The village is part of the Trnovec Bartolovečki municipality. It is located near Lake Varaždin, a reservoir on the Drava, around 6 kilometres east of the city of Varaždin. It is connected with the villages of Žabnik and Štefanec. In the 2011 census, Bartolovec had a population of 749.The D2 state road goes through the village.

The Varaždin Arena is a multi-use indoor arena in Varaždin, Croatia. It is used mostly for team handball, volleyball and basketball games. The stadium has a capacity of 5,000 and was officially opened on 6 December 2008. It was completed to be used as one of the venues during the 2009 World Men's Handball Championship hosted in Croatia. It hosted all the Group C matches which consisted of Germany, Macedonia, Algeria, Poland, and Russia. The arena was also used to host the 2018 European Men's Handball Championship and will be hosting 2025 World Men's Handball Championship. The arena has played host to various events other than sports, such as dancing championships, various expos, school affiliated events, circuses, auto-shows, and concerts. In its short history the arena hosted numerous artists such as: Đorđe Balašević, Zdravko Čolić, Limp Bizkit, Mišo Kovač, Dino Merlin, Plavi Orkestar, Gibonni, Bambi Molesters, Halid Bešlić, Crvena Jabuka and Parni Valjak.

Gornji Kneginec is a village and municipality in Croatia in Varaždin County. According to the 2021 census, there are 4,920 inhabitants, in the following settlements: Donji Kneginec, population 650 Gornji Kneginec, population 1,437 Lužan Biškupečki, population 359 Turčin, population 811 Varaždin Breg, population 1,663The absolute majority of population are Croats. The municipality is home to a monument to Croatian soldiers killed by Yugoslav Partisans in World War II and it aftermath.

Stadion Varteks is a football stadium in Varaždin, Croatia. It is the home ground of the Croatian Football League club NK Varaždin and the lower division club NK Varteks. The stadium was built in 1931 as the home ground for a different NK Varaždin team, which overlapped with the current tenant with a similar name until its disbandment in 2015. Stadion Varteks has undergone several renovations since 1931, and currently has an all-seating capacity of 8,818. It consists of three stands, with the main stand being the only one with a roof. Since 1993, the Croatia national football team and the Croatia national under-21 football team have occasionally played their home games at the venue. For some of these games, and for some club-level UEFA competitions, rules against advertising of stadium sponsors has seen the generic name Gradski Stadion ("City Stadium") used. The stadium is located near the Varteks clothing factory, and also features a Varteks fan shop and a café. From 1958 to 2010, the clothing factory was the main sponsor of the original NK Varaždin team, which changed its name to NK Varteks (no relation to the club founded in 2011) during those 52 seasons. Varteks clothing factory general manager Anđelko Herjavec also served as the president of the original NK Varteks, and was a member of the executive board of the Croatian Football Federation. After his death in a traffic accident in 2001, Stadion Varteks was unofficially renamed Stadion Anđelko Herjavec by fans of NK Varteks; this name still occasionally appears in media coverage.On 31 May 2017, the stadium hosted the 2017 Croatian Football Cup final between Rijeka and Dinamo Zagreb.

The siege of Varaždin Barracks, also referred to locally as Varaždin's days of war (Croatian: Varaždinski dani rata), was the blockade and capture of the Yugoslav People's Army (JNA) barracks and other facilities in and around the city of Varaždin during the Croatian War of Independence. The blockade began on 14 September 1991, quickly escalated into fighting, and ended on 22 September with the surrender of the JNA garrison. It was part of the Battle of the Barracks—an effort by Croatian armed forces to isolate JNA units based at barracks in Croatia, or capture the barracks to provide arms for Croatia's nascent army. The besieging force outnumbered the JNA garrison in Varaždin, which was divided among several barracks, storage depots and other facilities, but the JNA possessed substantially greater firepower. The balance shifted in favour of the Croatian forces after smaller JNA posts were captured in the first few days of the siege, until only one barracks along with the headquarters of the JNA 32nd Corps remained under JNA control. At that point, the commander of the 32nd Corps, Major General Vladimir Trifunović, and the civilian authorities in Varaždin agreed that the remaining JNA forces in the city would surrender, but all those wishing to leave would be permitted to do so, leaving their weapons behind. The capture of the 32nd Corps' weapons was the most significant achievement of the Battle of the Barracks, and greatly augmented the capabilities of the Croatian military. After he left Croatia, Trifunović was indicted for war crimes by Croatia, tried in absentia and convicted for the combat deaths of six Croatian soldiers and the wounding of dozens of Croatian citizens before and during the siege. He was also prosecuted by Yugoslav authorities for treason, but subsequently pardoned. In 2013, he requested a re-trial on his Croatian war crimes conviction, but died before proceedings could commence.

The Cathedral of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary (Croatian: Katedrala Uznesenja Blažene Djevice Marije na nebo) also called Varaždin Cathedral It is a Catholic church located in Varaždin, Croatia. The church is from 1997, the cathedral of the Diocese of Varaždin. Varazdin Cathedral was built in Baroque style between 1642 and 1646 by the Jesuit order. The bell tower was built in 1676, the sacristy was completed in 1726. After the abolition of the Jesuit order in 1773, the church passes to the Paulines. Later, the church was secularized in 1788 and converted into a barn for military purposes. In 1797 he was re-consecrated as a church. By the Bull "Clarorum sanctorum" of 5 July 1997 the Pope John Paul II created the new diocese of Varaždin that transformed the church into a cathedral.

The Diocese of Varaždin (Latin: Dioecesis Varasdinensis) is a Latin ecclesiastical territory or diocese of the Catholic Church in northern Croatia. The diocese is centred in the city of Varaždin. It is a new diocese, having only been erected on July 5, 1997 from the Archdiocese of Zagreb. Bishop Marko Culej was the first to be head of the diocese. Bishop Bože Radoš is the current bishop of Varaždin.The Church of the Assumption of Mary into Heaven was built in 1646 and was proclaimed a cathedral on September 28, 1997. The diocese's patron saint is Saint Marko of Križevci.
