Originally named in 1977 as "Alinjarra", an Aboriginal word for "north", this suburb was renamed Alexander Heights in 1987. The name is derived from Alexander Drive, the main arterial road into the area, which forms the suburb's eastern boundary. The road was in turn named after Mr S.B. Alexander, a former Wanneroo Road Board member.The suburb contains the Alinjarra Primary School, which covers from kindergarten to year 6. It hosts a range of sports programs and English courses to help the large number of recent immigrants, mostly of African, Arabic, Irish or English descent, moving into the area.

Mirrabooka is an Aboriginal name for the constellation most commonly known as the Southern Cross.The early stage of development of the suburb was originally as an extension of Girrawheen and Nollamara.The suburb has expanded rapidly in recent years, with the subdivision of bushland, on which housing developments have been built, especially north of Yirrigan Drive. The Mirrabooka Square Shopping Centre developed in 1979 has been expanded. The new regional police station of the Western Australia Police was expanded in 2015.

Mercy College caters for 1550 students from kindergarten to Year 12. Mercy College draws on its history as a part of the journey of the Sisters of Mercy, founded by Catherine McAuley. Koondoola is a suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located within the City of Wanneroo. Its postcode is 6064. Most of Koondoola's infrastructure was built in the 1970s. For example, two of the area's focal points, Koondoola Primary School and Koondoola Plaza, were built in 1975 and 1978 respectively. Prior to the 1970s a large portion of Koondoola had been a regional landfill facility. Also in Koondoola is the small but progressive Waddington Primary School, overlooking local bushland. Koondoola, like much of the northern suburbs, has a history of sporting clubs. In 1975 Koondoola Junior Football Club was formed, followed two years later by Koondoola Junior Soccer Club (1977). Similarly around this time Koondoola Junior Cricket Club was formed. Koondoola Junior Football Club had its grounds located at Koondoola Park, as did Koondoola Junior Cricket Club. Both clubs have since merged with Girrawheen. Koondoola Junior Soccer Club was first located at Butterworth Reserve, but moved to Shelvock Reserve in 1983. This was the club's final year of operation.

John Septimus Roe Anglican Community School (abbreviated as JSRACS or JSR) is an independent Anglican co-educational primary and secondary day school, located in Perth, Western Australia. The school is named after the notable West Australian and first Surveyor-General of Western Australia, John Septimus Roe.
