Mercy College is an independent Roman Catholic co-educational primary and high day school located in the Perth suburb of Koondoola, Western Australia. Mercy College caters for 1550 students from kindergarten to Year 12. Mercy College draws on its history as a part of the journey of the Sisters of Mercy, founded by Catherine McAuley. The school was established by the Sisters of Mercy in 1972. The college's aim is to offer a Christian and general education which will provide for the spiritual, intellectual, physical, emotional and social needs of its students. Alexander Heights is a suburb of Perth, Western Australia within the City of Wanneroo. Originally named in 1977 as "Alinjarra", an Aboriginal word for "north", this suburb was renamed Alexander Heights in 1987. The name is derived from Alexander Drive, the main arterial road into the area, which forms the suburb's eastern boundary. The road was in turn named after Mr S.B. Alexander, a former Wanneroo Road Board member.The suburb contains the Alinjarra Primary School, which covers from kindergarten to year 6. It hosts a range of sports programs and English courses to help the large number of recent immigrants, mostly of African, Arabic, Irish or English descent, moving into the area.

Mirrabooka is an Aboriginal name for the constellation most commonly known as the Southern Cross.The early stage of development of the suburb was originally as an extension of Girrawheen and Nollamara.The suburb has expanded rapidly in recent years, with the subdivision of bushland, on which housing developments have been built, especially north of Yirrigan Drive. The Mirrabooka Square Shopping Centre developed in 1979 has been expanded. The new regional police station of the Western Australia Police was expanded in 2015.

Balga is a suburb of Perth, the capital city of Western Australia, 13 kilometres (8 mi) north of Perth city's central business district (CBD). Its local government area is the City of Stirling. Mark Irwin is the current mayor. The name "Balga" was adopted in 1954 and is the Noongar (Aboriginal) word for the indigenous grass tree Xanthorrhoea preissii. It was designed by the State Housing Commission along with Nollamara and Westminster as part of the "Mirrabooka Project", and the laying of streets and building of homes commenced in the 1960s.

The coastal plain continues well beyond the boundaries of the Swan River and its tributaries, as a geological and biological zone, one of Western Australia's Interim Biogeographic Regionalisation for Australia (IBRA) regions. It is also one of the distinct physiographic provinces of the larger West Australian Shield division.
