Koondoola is a suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located within the City of Wanneroo. Its postcode is 6064. Most of Koondoola's infrastructure was built in the 1970s. For example, two of the area's focal points, Koondoola Primary School and Koondoola Plaza, were built in 1975 and 1978 respectively. Prior to the 1970s a large portion of Koondoola had been a regional landfill facility. Also in Koondoola is the small but progressive Waddington Primary School, overlooking local bushland. Koondoola, like much of the northern suburbs, has a history of sporting clubs. In 1975 Koondoola Junior Football Club was formed, followed two years later by Koondoola Junior Soccer Club (1977). Similarly around this time Koondoola Junior Cricket Club was formed. Koondoola Junior Football Club had its grounds located at Koondoola Park, as did Koondoola Junior Cricket Club. Both clubs have since merged with Girrawheen. Koondoola Junior Soccer Club was first located at Butterworth Reserve, but moved to Shelvock Reserve in 1983. This was the club's final year of operation.

Emu Swamp is a forested area located in the City of Swan, near the suburbs of Ballajura and Koondoola, Western Australia. The reserve is characterized as a swamp, a wetland dominated by tree vegetation, and it includes features such as a lake, a pond, and a stream. There are also hills and roads within or near the reserve. The area encompasses a variety of natural features typical of a wetland ecosystem.

Mercy College is an independent Roman Catholic co-educational primary and high day school located in the Perth suburb of Koondoola, Western Australia. Mercy College caters for 1550 students from kindergarten to Year 12. Mercy College draws on its history as a part of the journey of the Sisters of Mercy, founded by Catherine McAuley. The school was established by the Sisters of Mercy in 1972. The college's aim is to offer a Christian and general education which will provide for the spiritual, intellectual, physical, emotional and social needs of its students. The Perth International Telecommunications Centre (PITC) is located in the northeastern Perth suburb of Cullacabardee, and has handled a large percentage of Australian telecommunications company Telstra's satellite communications since its opening in November 1986. Perth Station was an ESTRACK Earth station in Australia, located at the Perth International Telecommunications Centre in the suburb of Cullacabardee. It has been retired from service in December, 2015 and has been replaced by the New Norcia Station. The site has hosted a 15-metre diameter antenna that transmitted in S-band and received in both S- and X-bands. There were plans to upgrade to X-band transmission in 2004. There was also a GPS Tracking and Data Facility. The site had its own no-break power plant. The facility was used to routinely communicate with the XMM-Newton spacecraft. It was also used during the Launch and Early Orbit Phase of various satellite launches.

Darch is a suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located within the City of Wanneroo approximately 17 kilometres (11 mi) north of the Perth CBD. Previously part of Landsdale, much of the suburb was rural in character until the late 1990s. It was named after an early settler family in the area, with the name being approved in 1997. The area was subsequently opened to residential development, especially from 2001 onwards, as part of Cell 6 of the East Wanneroo Development Area. Darch contains four schools – Ashdale Primary School, opened in 2005 with 243 pre-school and 596 primary students as of Semester 2, 2008; Kingsway Christian College, a non-denominational Christian school founded in 1983, initially known as Northern Districts Christian College; Landsdale Farm School, an education support school developed for students with disabilities; and Ashdale Secondary College, which opened in 2009 for the suburb's high school students, and is located on Westport Parade across from Ashdale Primary School and close to Kingsway Christian College. The suburb contains several small residential parks as well as Landsdale Park, a bushland reserve with interpretative signage. Residents are served for shopping needs by the Darch Plaza shopping centre, and the larger Kingsway City Shopping Centre to the west. The suburb is serviced by two Transperth bus routes, all operated by Swan Transit. The route 450, running along Kingsway, links to Warwick railway station; whilst the 374 route, which enters the suburb and serves the central section, travel via Evandale Road, links to Mirrabooka bus station and Whitfords railway station. All termini offer services to central Perth.

Ballajura Community College is a public co-educational high day school, located on Illawarra Crescent in the suburb of Ballajura, 14 kilometres (8.7 mi) north of Perth, Western Australia. Established in 1995, the school caters for students from Year 7 to Year 12.

Girrawheen Senior High School is an independent public co-educational high day school, located in the Perth suburb of Girrawheen, Western Australia.

The Swan Coastal Plain in Western Australia is the geographic feature which contains the Swan River as it travels west to the Indian Ocean. The coastal plain continues well beyond the boundaries of the Swan River and its tributaries, as a geological and biological zone, one of Western Australia's Interim Biogeographic Regionalisation for Australia (IBRA) regions. It is also one of the distinct physiographic provinces of the larger West Australian Shield division.

Ashdale Secondary College is an Independent Public secondary school in the Perth suburb of Darch, Western Australia. Established in 2009, the school has specialist programs for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and for Autism Extension (AEP).

John Septimus Roe Anglican Community School (abbreviated as JSRACS or JSR) is an independent Anglican co-educational primary and secondary day school, located in Perth, Western Australia. The school is named after the notable West Australian and first Surveyor-General of Western Australia, John Septimus Roe. It is the largest member of the Anglican Schools Commission and is also noted for having the longest name of any school in Western Australia.
