Neded (Hungarian: Negyed) is a village and municipality in Šaľa District, in the Nitra Region of south-west Slovakia.

Žihárec (Hungarian: Zsigárd, Hungarian pronunciation: [ˈʒiɡaːrd]) is a village and municipality in Šaľa District, in the Nitra Region of south-west Slovakia.

The Battle of Zsigárd, fought on 16 June 1849, was one of the battles which took place in the Summer Campaign of the Hungarian War of Independence from 1848 to 1849, fought between the Hungarian Revolutionary Army and the Habsburg Empire. On 16. June 1849 the Hungarian II. corps under the leadership of Colonel Lajos Asbóth occupied Zsigárd, Királyrév and Negyed, but in the end, the counterattack of the Austrian Theissing and Pott brigades under the leadership of Major General Anton Freiherr von Herzinger forced it to retreat on its starting position. The only success of the Hungarians in this battle was that the II. corps built a bridge at Negyed, which they managed to hold, against the Austrian attacks.

The Čierna voda is a lowland river in western Slovakia. It is 105.5 km long. Its source is in the Little Carpathians, near the town Svätý Jur. Near the town Čierna Voda, it is joined by its largest tributary: the Dudváh. It discharges into the Little Danube river near the village Dolný Chotár.

The Nitra (Slovak: Nitra, German: Neutra, Hungarian: Nyitra) is a river in western Slovakia. It flows into the Váh river in Komoča. Its source is in the Malá Fatra (Lesser Fatra) mountains north of Prievidza. The river Nitra passes through the towns of Bojnice, Topoľčany, Nitra and Nové Zámky. It is 166 km (103 mi) long and its basin size is 4,501 km2 (1,738 sq mi).: 72  The old branch of the Nitra, Stará Nitra, branches off near Nové Zámky and flows into the Váh close to its confluence with the Danube in Komárno.: 85

The Little Danube (Slovak: Malý Dunaj, Hungarian: Kis-Duna, German: Kleine Donau) is a branch of the river Danube in Slovakia. It splits from the main river near Bratislava, and flows more or less parallel to the Danube until it flows into the river Váh in Kolárovo. It is 137 km (85 mi) long and its basin size is 2,977 km2 (1,149 sq mi).The part of the Váh between Kolárovo and its confluence with the Danube in Komárno is also called Váh Danube (Slovak: Vážsky Dunaj, Hungarian: Vág-Duna). The island between the Danube, the Little Danube and the Váh Danube rivers is Žitný ostrov.
