The River Strat is a river in the northernmost part of Cornwall in southwest England. The Strat flows for 12.7 miles to the sea at Bude, having risen to the south of Kilkhampton. It flows initially in a generally southwesterly direction through Stratton to a meeting with its major tributary, the River Neet at Helebridge. The river then turns abruptly to the north-northwest, parallel to the coast which it meets at Bude Haven. The Neet rises to the east of Week St Mary and flow north and northwest to its confluence with the Strat. Other of its tributaries rise to the west of Week St Mary. The section downstream from the vicinity of Helebridge is accompanied by the now disused Bude Canal. The rivers are home to trout, lamprey and eels. The Strat is sometimes also referred to as the River Neet. Older forms of the name of Stratton include Straetneat, one of the meanings of which may be the 'valley of the (river known as) Neat'.

Bude Sea Pool is a partially man-made tidal swimming pool or lido in the rocks at Summerleaze Beach, Bude, Cornwall.

Bude Lifeboat Station is the base for Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) search and rescue operations at Bude, Cornwall in the United Kingdom. It operates a D-class (IB1) lifeboats, which since 2012 has been the George Bird (D-756).

The Bude Canal was a canal built to serve the hilly hinterland in the Devon and Cornwall border territory in the United Kingdom, chiefly to bring lime-bearing sand for agricultural fertiliser. The Bude Canal system was one of the most unusual in Britain.It was remarkable in using inclined planes to haul tub boats on wheels to the upper levels. There were only two conventional locks, in the short broad canal section near the sea at Bude itself. It had a total extent of 35 miles (56 km), and it rose from sea level to an altitude of 433 feet (132 m). The design of the canal influenced the design of the Rolle Canal.

The Cornish Way is a cycle route which is part of the National Cycle Network that links Bude to Land's End. The route is via Padstow or St Austell and is 180 miles in length.

Lynstone is a hamlet near Bude in north Cornwall, England. At the 2011 census the population at the 2011 census was included in the civil parish of Bude-Stratton.

Maer is a coastal hamlet in north Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. It is situated one mile (1.6 km) northeast of Bude at grid reference SS 205 075 in the civil parish of Bude-Stratton (where the 2011 census population is included.). The hamlet contains the only "known probable tithe barn" in Cornwall, which was extensively restored and modernised following a purchase in 2012. Its restoration, by architects The Bazeley Partnership, was featured on the Channel 4 programme Homes By the Sea.The National Trust maintains Maer Down and Maer Cliff immediately west of the hamlet. The South West Coast Path runs along the clifftop past Maer.

Bude railway station was the western terminus of the Bude Branch. It was opened in 1898 by the London and South Western Railway (LSWR) to serve the coastal town of Bude and closed in 1966 after having been proposed for closure in the Beeching Report.

Maer Lake is a nature reserve adjacent to Bude, in Cornwall, England. It is a wetland meadow with open water, and is an important site for over-wintering birds.

Bude (; Cornish: Porthbud) is a seaside town in north east Cornwall, England, in the civil parish of Bude-Stratton and at the mouth of the River Neet (also known locally as the River Strat). It was sometimes formerly known as Bude Haven. It lies southwest of Stratton, south of Flexbury and Poughill, and north of Widemouth Bay, located along the A3073 road off the A39. Bude is twinned with Ergué-Gabéric in Brittany, France. Bude's coast faces Bude Bay in the Celtic Sea, part of the Atlantic Ocean. The population of the civil parish can be found under Bude-Stratton. Its earlier importance was as a harbour, and then a source of sea sand useful for improving the inland soil. This was transported on the Bude Canal. The Victorians favoured it as a seaside resort. With new rail links, it became a popular seaside destination in the 20th century. Bradshaw's Guide of 1866, Section 2, described Bude as: "a small port and picturesque village in the north-eastern extremity of Cornwall". It described the town as having the dignity of a fashionable marine resort with excellent facilities for bathers. The harbour bed consists of fine bright yellow sand consisting of small shells. "The sea view is of a striking, bold and sublime description – the rocks rising on every side to lofty broken elevations". It also describes Bude as a romantic retreat.

Flexbury is a village about 0.8 miles from Bude, in the civil parish of Bude–Stratton, north Cornwall, England. Described as a hamlet in 1887, residential properties have since been built to the coast at Crooklets beach. In 2018 it had an estimated population of 2290.
