Rosenburgh Castle or Rosenburg was a castle located in today's Voorschoten, the Netherlands. In the early 1700s, it was replaced by a manor which was demolished only a few years after its construction. Rosenburgh Castle was the center of a significant siege in 1351.

Voorschoten is a railway station in Voorschoten, Netherlands. The first station opened on 1 May 1843 on the Amsterdam–Rotterdam railway. A new station building opened in 1886 and was closed on 17 September 1944. The station re-opened in 1969 and a hexagonal shaped station building opened. A new station was opened in 1995. The train services are operated by Nederlandse Spoorwegen.

Voorschoten (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈvoːrsxoːtə(n)] (listen)) is a village and municipality in the western Netherlands, in the province of South Holland. It is a smaller town in the Randstad, enclosed by the cities of Leiden, Wassenaar and The Hague. The municipality covers an area of 11.56 km2 (4.46 sq mi) of which 0.42 km2 (0.16 sq mi) is covered by water. The town is relatively affluent, and the majority of Voorschoten's population are commuters, generally to either the Hague or Leiden. Despite the fact that it is situated in one of the most densely populated areas in the Netherlands, and, indeed, the world, the town retains a strong, independent identity and village-like atmosphere. Several buildings of historical importance are situated in Voorschoten. For example, the old Castle Duivenvoorde, and the Manor Vredenhof - rebuilt by Diederik Jansz. Graeff, and until the 18th century in the hands from the De Graeff family - are located in or near Voorschoten. The town's proximity to the Hague, as well as the presence of the British School in the Netherlands in the town, and the American School of the Hague in nearby Wassenaar, means that Voorschoten has a large community of expatriates, particularly British nationals.Floris V of Holland granted Voorschoten market rights in 1282. In recent years, the settlement has seen considerable expansion, with the addition of several new areas of housing, such as Starrenburg, Krimwijk II and, most recently, Voorsche Park. The town benefits from excellent sporting and recreational facilities, including hockey, football and baseball clubs, a tennis club, a swimming pool and a golf course. There are a number of churches located throughout the town, the two most striking of which are the main church, located in Voorschoten's historic centre, and the St. Laurentius Church, located in the north of the town.

The American School of The Hague is an international school located in Wassenaar, the Netherlands. Students aged between 3 to 18 years old, who represent up to 80 nationalities, with 28 percent American and 15 percent Dutch nationals.

De Vink is a railway station in the Netherlands. It is located near the former hamlet of De Vink, currently a part of Leiden. The station re-opened in 1985. It is wedged in between the city of Leiden and the neighbouring town of Voorschoten. The tracks in the direction of The Hague are on Leiden ground. The tracks in the direction of Leiden are on Voorschoten ground. Because of this, it is currently the only railway station in the Netherlands not to feature the name of the city it is located in.

On 9 September 1926, a passenger train was derailed near Voorschoten, Netherlands due to defective track. Four people were killed and 30 were injured.

Villa Rozenrust is a restaurant in Leidschendam, Netherlands. It is a fine dining restaurant that was awarded one Michelin star in 1976 and retained that rating until 1989. In 1993 it was again awarded a Michelin star and retained that rating until 1999.One of the head chefs that worked here, was Cees Helder, later to become the first Dutch head chef to be rewarded three Michelin stars. Other head chefs were Huub Biro, Roberto de Luca, Christian van der Linden, Danny van Wessel and Luca Malagnino.In the second star period, head chef was Marcel van Lier, who took over from Lambert Stuifbergen in 1994.The restaurant was founded by Giovanni Matarazzi. He sold the restaurant in 1998. After that, several owners came in and went again in quick succession, until in 2007 the Raimondi family took over and ownership stabilized.In 2006 the restaurant changed course, shed of the Dutch-Italian-styled kitchen and went over to a pure Italian styled kitchen. At present, the restaurant carries the name Raimondi's Villa Rozenrust.

The Vliet is a canal in the western Netherlands, in the province of South Holland. It starts at the Oude Rijn at Leiden and joins the Delfshavense Schie canal at Delft. Places along its banks include Voorschoten, Leidschendam, Voorburg, The Hague and Rijswijk. The canal was dug in 47 AD under command of Roman general Corbulo, who wished to connect river Rhine, of which the current Oude Rijn stream in Roman times was the main branch, to the Meuse estuary. It is unclear what the canal's trajectory was beyond the current city of Delft; the Delfshavense Schie canal, which connects Delft to the Nieuwe Maas river was not dug until 1389. In the Middle Ages the Vliet was an important trade link that attracted much trade, as it flowed through the heart of the County of Holland. Windmills have been constructed alongside the Vliet, including the completely renovated mill 'De salamander' in Leidschendam. The Vliet area was particularly attractive among richer families, who built their mansions along its banks.

Stoomtrein Katwijk Leiden (formerly Stoomtrein Valkenburgse Meer, abbreviated SVM), is a 700 mm (2 ft 3+9⁄16 in) narrow gauge heritage railway line around the Valkenburgse Meer in the south of Katwijk, Netherlands. Although the name translates as Steam Train Valkenburg Lake, technically actually trams are used for the tourist attraction. Carriages are mostly remakes of early-20th century tram carriages, built by the Nederlandse Smalspoor Stichting (Netherlands Narrow-gauge Foundation) in Katwijk.

Veur is a former municipality in the Dutch province of South Holland. It covered the northwestern part of the current town of Leidschendam. Veur was a separate municipality between 1817 and 1938, when it merged with Stompwijk to form the new municipality of Leidschendam.

Wassenaar (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈʋɑsənaːr] (listen); population: 26,211 in 2019) is a municipality and town located in the province of South Holland, on the western coast of the Netherlands. An affluent suburb of The Hague, Wassenaar lies 10 km (6 mi) north of that city on the N44/A44 highway near the North Sea coast. It is part of the Haaglanden region and the Rotterdam–The Hague metropolitan area. The municipality covers an area of 62.40 km2 (24.09 sq mi), of which 11.29 km2 (4.36 sq mi) is covered by water. Wassenaar is home to some of the Netherlands' richest residential neighborhoods as well as the country's most expensive street, the Groot Haesebroekseweg.

Huize Ivicke is a monumental building in Wassenaar, the Netherlands. Constructed in 1913 for A. F. J. van Hattum, it is a replica of the Eremitageslottet hunting lodge in the Jaegersborg Dyrehave in Denmark. It was inhabited until the mid-1980s, when it became offices. Since 2000, it has been owned by speculator Ronnie van de Putte, known as the "Slum King of the Netherlands" (Krottenkoning van Nederland). He refuses to renovate the building, despite its monumental status. Heritage groups warned the local municipality in the late 2010s that the villa was severely dilapidated and it was placed on a list of the fourteen most threatened monuments in Europe. It is currently the subject of an intense dispute over emergency renovations and was squatted in 2018, by people wanting to carry out essential repairs. The house, the formal garden, the gate and the playhouse are all national monuments.
