The Vliet is a canal in the western Netherlands, in the province of South Holland. It starts at the Oude Rijn at Leiden and joins the Delfshavense Schie canal at Delft. Places along its banks include Voorschoten, Leidschendam, Voorburg, The Hague and Rijswijk. The canal was dug in 47 AD under command of Roman general Corbulo, who wished to connect river Rhine, of which the current Oude Rijn stream in Roman times was the main branch, to the Meuse estuary. It is unclear what the canal's trajectory was beyond the current city of Delft; the Delfshavense Schie canal, which connects Delft to the Nieuwe Maas river was not dug until 1389. In the Middle Ages the Vliet was an important trade link that attracted much trade, as it flowed through the heart of the County of Holland. Windmills have been constructed alongside the Vliet, including the completely renovated mill 'De salamander' in Leidschendam. The Vliet area was particularly attractive among richer families, who built their mansions along its banks.

Leidschendam (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈlɛitsə(n)ˌdɑm]) is a town and former municipality in the province of South Holland of the Netherlands. Along with Voorburg and Stompwijk, it is part of the municipality Leidschendam-Voorburg.

The Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL), also referred to as the Lebanon Tribunal or the Hariri Tribunal, is a tribunal of international character applying Lebanese criminal law to carry out the investigation and prosecution of those responsible for 14 February 2005 assassination of Rafic Hariri, the former Lebanese prime minister, and the deaths of 21 others, as well as those responsible for connected attacks.The Tribunal officially opened on 1 March 2009 and has primacy over the national courts of Lebanon. The Tribunal has its seat in Leidschendam, on the outskirts of The Hague, Netherlands, and a field office in the Lebanese capital, Beirut. Its official languages are Arabic, French and English. The Tribunal is unique among international criminal tribunals in that it may hold trials in absentia, and it is the first to deal with terrorism as a distinct crime. The Tribunal's eleven judges, a combination of Lebanese and international judges, are appointed by the UN Secretary-General for a renewable term of three years.The Tribunal's mandate was initially three years. However, there is no fixed timeline for the judicial work to be completed. The mandate has subsequently been extended to allow the Tribunal to complete its work.The verdict was eventually issued on 18 August 2020, which was originally set on 7 August, but postponed following the 2020 Beirut explosion.

Veur is a former municipality in the Dutch province of South Holland. It covered the northwestern part of the current town of Leidschendam. Veur was a separate municipality between 1817 and 1938, when it merged with Stompwijk to form the new municipality of Leidschendam.

These have a high and a low platform, with RandstadRail 3 and RandstadRail 4 using the lower platforms, and line E using the higher platforms.

Leidschenveen is the station where the metro and the tram lines split, with the metro (line E) continuing to Rotterdam, while the trams (3 & 4) continue to Zoetermeer. The RandstadRail station opened on 29 October 2006 for the HTM tram services (4) and for the RET metro service (line E), and on 20 October 2007 for tram service 3.

Forepark is a business park in The Hague, Netherlands, east of the Prins Clausplein highway interchange (A4 and A12). It was developed in the 1990s, together with the nearby residential neighbourhood Leidschenveen. Originally part of the municipality of Leidschendam, it was annexed by The Hague in 2002 and now falls under the district of Leidschenveen-Ypenburg. Since 2007, Forepark is home to Cars Jeans Stadion, the home stadium of ADO Den Haag. Since the construction of the RandstadRail network, the business park is connected to the metro line between Rotterdam and the city centre of The Hague via Forepark Station. Forepark has 160 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2014), and is divided into two sub-neighbourhoods, Westvliet (132 inhabitants) and De Rivieren (28 inhabitants).

Rosenburgh Castle or Rosenburg was a castle located in today's Voorschoten, the Netherlands. In the early 1700s, it was replaced by a manor which was demolished only a few years after its construction. Rosenburgh Castle was the center of a significant siege in 1351.
