The Bank of Lithuania (Lithuanian: Lietuvos bankas) is the Lithuanian member of the Eurosystem and has been the monetary authority for Lithuania from 1922 to 2014, issuing the Lithuanian litas, albeit with a long suspension between 1940 and 1993. Since 2014, it has also been Lithuania's national competent authority within European Banking Supervision.

Napoleon called it "the Jerusalem of the North" as he was passing through in 1812. In 2009, Vilnius was the European Capital of Culture, together with Linz in Austria. In 2021, Vilnius was named one of the 25 fDi's Global Cities of the Future. Vilnius is considered one of the major world financial centres, placing 76th globally and 29th in Europe, according to the Global Financial Centres Index. In 2023, Vilnius hosted the 2023 NATO Summit. Vilnius is a member of Eurocities and the Union of Capitals of the European Union (UCEU).

The Lithuanian Space Association (LSA; Lithuanian: Lietuvos kosmoso asociacija, LKA) is a space organisation based in Vilnius, Lithuania. It is one of the partners that created the first two Lithuanian satellites.

The Lithuanian Academy of Sciences or LMA (Lithuanian: Lietuvos mokslų akademija, Latin: Academia Scientiarum Lithuaniae) is a state-funded independent organization in Lithuania dedicated for science and research. Its mission is to mobilize prominent scientists and initiate activities that would strengthen the welfare of Lithuania and contribute to the scientific, social, cultural and economic development of the country.

Žygimantų Street is a street in the Vilnius Old Town, Vilnius, Lithuania. It follows the left bank of the Neris River on the stretch between the Mindaugas Bridge separating it from the Arsenal street and the Green Bridge separating it from the Albertas Goštautas street.

Ivan Lutskievič Belarusian Museum in Vinius (Belarusian: Беларускі музэй у Вільне, romanized: Biełaruski muzej u Vilnie, Polish: Muzeum Białoruskie w Wilnie, Lithuanian: I. Luckevičiaus baltarusių muziejus) was a Belarusian scientific and educational organisation, which existed from 1921 to 1945 in Vilnius (Wilno, Vilna). It was located in the Monastery of the Holy Trinity in close proximity to the Belarusian Scientific Society and Vilnius Belarusian Gymnasium. The museum was founded based on the collection of Ivan Luckievič. The collection was divided into sections of ethnography (clothes, textile, music instruments), archeology, numismatics and library (mostly, of incunabulas and manuscripts).

Lithuania District (German: Verwaltungsbezirk Litauen) was an administrative division of German-controlled territory of Ober-Ost during World War I. It was bordered by the Bialystok-Grodno District to the south and the Courland District to the north.

The Vilna Governorate was a governorate (guberniya) of the Northwestern Krai of the Russian Empire. In 1897, the governorate covered the area of 41,907.9 square kilometres (16,180.7 sq mi) and a population of 1,591,207 inhabitants. The governorate was defined by the Minsk Governorate to the south, the Grodno Governorate to the southwest, the Suwałki Governorate to the west, the Kovno and Courland Governorates to the north, and the Vitebsk Governorate to the east. The administrative centre was located in the city of Vilna (which is modern-day Vilnius). The city also served as the administrative centre of the Vilna Governorate-General, which existed until 1912. The area roughly corresponded to the Vilnius Region, which was later occupied by Germany, Bolsheviks, and Poland.

The Belarusian Gymnasium of Vilnia (Belarusian: Віленская беларуская гімназія) was an important Belarusian school in Vilnius. Many notable Belarusian cultural figures of the 20th century graduated from the school.

Church of the Holy Cross (Lithuanian: Šv. Kryžiaus bažnyčia) is a Roman Catholic church in the Vilnius Old Town. Initially, in 1543 a chapel was built which was later expanded and rebuilt. The current towers were built in 1725. Following the fire in 1737 the church was reconstructed and a late baroque interior was installed.A former monastery complex of the Brothers Hospitallers of Saint John of God is nearby the church.The church is famous for a spring with miraculous water in its basement (people believe that this water cures eye diseases) and a painting of Mary, mother of Jesus, which bestows favors.
