Black Point-Green Point is a census-designated place (CDP) in Marin County, California, United States. It is unincorporated, sitting between the city of Novato to the southwest and the Petaluma River and San Pablo Bay to the northeast. The population was 1,431 at the 2020 census.

Day Island is an island at the mouth of the Petaluma River in San Pablo Bay (an embayment of San Francisco Bay). It is part of Marin County, California. Its coordinates are 38°06′13″N 122°29′26″W, and the United States Geological Survey measured its elevation as 105 ft (32 m) in 1981. It appears on a 1951 USGS map of the area, although it appears on maps from as old as 1873. The "1880 History of Marin County" by Alley, Bowen and Co. mentions "a man by name of Day" who "settled on an island in Novato township which has since borne his name" in 1851." To this day, there are still 2 houses on the island, both inhabited. The island is bordered by dirt and two lagoons to the west, and marshlands to the east, although it was once entirely surrounded by either marshland or water.

The Black Point Communications Annex was an antenna array and off-site radio communications annex located in Novato, California, 1.5 miles from Black Point, from which it gained its name. It is located 4 miles north of Hamilton Field, a position that was chosen due to its close proximity to a major air force hub. Due to the property having been privately owned, the federal government had to use eminent domain twice to acquire the land, first in 1939 and again in 1957 in order to expand the array. In 1952, both the Hamilton Air Force Base and the Black Point Communications Annex were declared "Permanent Installations" by the United States Air Force, but their usefulness had already begun to decline, and on January 11, 1976, the General Services Administration (GSA) was placed in charge. Eight years later, they sold the former Black Point Communication Annex to the State of California. Many of the buildings are still intact, such as an electrical power station, 2 transmitting building/control rooms, a generator room, and most of the antennae. Some of the other buildings that were built out of wood or corrugated steel are reduced to foundations. The land on which the array is located is overgrown, and visibly different from the fields and pastures that surround it.

Novato Creek is a stream in eastern Marin County, California, United States. It originates in highlands between Red Hill and Mount Burdell above the city of Novato, California, and flows 17 miles (27 km) before emptying into San Pablo Bay south of Petaluma Point.

The Petaluma River is a river in the California counties of Sonoma and Marin that becomes a tidal slough for most of its length. The headwaters are in the area southwest of Cotati. The flow is generally southward through Petaluma's old town, where the waterway becomes navigable, and then flows another 10 mi (16 km) through tidal marshes before emptying into the northwest corner of San Pablo Bay.

Bel Marin Keys is an unincorporated community in Marin County, California. It lies at an elevation of 10 feet (3 m).

The Hamilton Wetland Restoration Project, now known as the Hamilton/Bel Marin Keys Wetlands Restoration, is a wetlands habitat restoration project at the former Hamilton Air Force Base—Hamilton Army Airfield (1930−1988) site and adjacent Bel Marin Keys shoreline, in Marin County, California. It is located at Whiteside Marsh on the northwestern shore of San Pablo Bay, in and adjacent to the city of Novato in the North Bay region of the San Francisco Bay Area.

Deer Island is a former island in Marin County, California, close to (and formerly surrounded by wetlands of) the Novato Creek, upstream of San Pablo Bay (an embayment of San Francisco Bay). It is now the location of Deer Island Preserve. It used to be inhabited by Antonio DeBorba, who hiked the nearby wetlands to avoid having to use a boat to get home. The building is still there on the Northeastern part of the island. Deer Island's coordinates are 38°05′52″N 122°32′13″W, and its elevation is 167 ft (51 m).

Columbia Pacific University (CPU) was a distance learning school in California. It was founded in 1978 and closed by California court order in 2000.

Hamilton Field (Hamilton AFB) was a United States Air Force base, which was inactivated in 1973, decommissioned in 1974, and put into a caretaker status with the Air Force Reserves until 1976. It was transferred to the United States Army in 1983 and was designated an Army Airfield until its BRAC closure in 1988. It is located along the western shore of San Pablo Bay in the southern portion of Novato, in Marin County, California.

Whiteside Marsh is a coastal estuary marsh and wetlands on the northwestern shore of San Pablo Bay in northern Marin County, California. It is in and adjacent to the city of Novato and the Bel Marin Keys community, in the North Bay region of the San Francisco Bay Area.
