The City of Maroondah is a local government area in Victoria, Australia in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne. Maroondah had a population of 115,043 in August 2021.The City of Maroondah was created through the amalgamation the former Cities of Ringwood and Croydon on 15 December 1994. The name 'Maroondah' was taken from two Aboriginal words - meaning "throwing" and "leaf" - symbolising the green environment.Suburbs located in the City include Ringwood, Croydon, Heathmont, Ringwood East, Ringwood North, Warranwood, Croydon North, Croydon South, Croydon Hills, Bayswater North and parts of Kilsyth South, Vermont and Park Orchards. The Lilydale and Belgrave railway lines run through the City of Maroondah, with stations at Heatherdale, Ringwood, Ringwood East, Croydon, and Heathmont. The Maroondah City Council is served by many buses operated by Ventura, Kinetic, McKenzies and V/Line. Maroondah Hospital, a large public hospital located in Ringwood East serves Maroondah and the surrounding areas. Maroondah contracts JJ Richards for their garbage collection and have 3 bins: A 240-litre blue-lidded bin for recycling, a 240-litre lime green-lidded bin for food organics and garden organics (FOGO) and a 120-litre red-lidded bin for waste/landfill collection (an 80-litre bin is also available). Prior to 2023, the bin lids were maroon for garden organics (only) and green for waste/landfill and food organics.

Tintern Grammar (also known as Tintern) is an independent, Anglican day school for girls and boys located in Ringwood East, a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Established in 1877 by Emma Bartlet Cook, Tintern has a non-selective enrolment policy and currently caters for over 890 students, from ELC through to Year 12, including international students. Located on one site in Ringwood East, the Early Learning Centre is co-educational, while girls and boys are educated in single-sex environments from Prep – Year 9. In Years 10 – 12 boys and girls learn together in a co-educational classes. The school is a member of the Eastern Independent Schools of Melbourne (EISM), the Junior School Heads Association of Australia (JSHAA), the Association of Heads of Independent Schools of Australia (AHISA), Alliance of Girls' Schools Australasia (AGSA) and was a founding member of Girls Sport Victoria (GSV).

Ringwood East is a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 31 km east of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Maroondah local government area. Ringwood East recorded a population of 10,764 at the 2021 census.It is located in the "Green Belt" of Melbourne, with much of the native vegetation and wildlife preserved in areas such as Wombalono Park and its surrounding suburban streets. The access to high performing public schools, such as Ringwood Secondary College, as well as renowned private schools Tintern Grammar and Aquinas College, is leading to high demand for housing in Ringwood East. The area is now being seen as a real life-style option by people who may have previously looked to areas, such as Balwyn and Camberwell, for quality schools. Ringwood East has its own railway station which is within the Myki Zone 2 fare zone on the Lilydale railway line. Maroondah Hospital is also located in Ringwood East, a large public hospital and emergency department serving the surrounding eastern suburbs. Ringwood East Post Office opened around 1902, in what was then a rural area, before the railway station opened in 1925.

Ringwood Secondary College is a co-educational public secondary school located in the eastern suburb of Ringwood in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Ringwood Secondary College opened as Ringwood High School in 1954 and was one of the first high schools to be constructed in the new Light Timber Construction (LTC) style, which was developed by the Public Works Department in Victoria to address a chronic shortage in high school places in the 1950s. Ringwood Secondary College provides education for years 7-12. Year 11 and 12 students undertake the VCE program. There are currently approximately 1460 students enrolled at the school. RSC offers an extensive range of Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) subjects as well as the Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) programme. The college has developed a centre of excellence for Automotive, Engineering and Manufacturing. The Music and Performing Arts Program at Ringwood Secondary College includes three concert bands, four stage bands, three string ensembles and two choirs. In recent competitions, Melbourne School Bands Festival, Mt Gambier Generations in Jazz and the Royal South Street Competition, the school has received awards for its stage bands, strings ensembles and symphonic orchestra.

Norwood Secondary College is a secondary school located in Melbourne's eastern suburbs, situated in Ringwood, Victoria, Australia and right next to Mullum Primary School. Norwood Secondary College, in the City of Maroondah, is a single campus co-educational year 7–12 college with an enrolment of around 1100 students. Year 11 and 12 students can elect to undertake a VCE or VCAL. The year 2018 was Norwood's 60th anniversary.

Yarra Valley Grammar (YVG) is an independent Anglican, co-educational grammar school, located in Ringwood, a suburb of Melbourne, Australia. Yarra Valley was founded as an all boys Anglican day school in 1966 before transitioning to a co-educational model in 1978. Yarra Valley is a member of AGSV (Associated Grammar Schools of Victoria), and has been periodically ranked amongst the top 50 schools in the state according to ATAR and VCE results, being placed as the 18th school in Victoria in 2022. Yarra Valley Grammar has also produced various notable alumni in the areas of sport, politics and academia, including seventeen professional AFL players, four olympians and two Victorian supreme court judges.

Heathmont is a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 24 km east of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Maroondah local government area. Heathmont recorded a population of 9,933 at the 2021 census.

Heathmont railway station is located on the Belgrave line in Victoria, Australia. It serves the eastern Melbourne suburb of Heathmont, and opened on 1 May 1926.

The electoral district of Ringwood is an electoral district of the Victorian Legislative Assembly, located in the east of Melbourne. It was first proclaimed in 1958 and was abolished in 1992. Some of Ringwood was included in the new electoral district of Bayswater that year. Kay Setches, who was at the time the last member for Ringwood, contested and lost Bayswater at the 1992 election. The electorate was created again in the 2013 redistribution of electoral boundaries that took effect at the 2014 state election. The new district largely replaces the abolished district of Mitcham, covering suburbs along the eastern parts of the Maroondah Highway. The abolished district of Mitcham was held by Liberal MP Dee Ryall, who lost the seat in a big swing against her in 2018. As of the 2022 Victorian state election, the seat contains the suburbs of Heathmont, Mitcham, Nunawading, Ringwood East, most of Ringwood, parts of Blackburn, Blackburn North, Donvale, Forest Hill, and Vermont in the local government areas of Maroondah City and Whitehorse City. The district's boundaries were also adjusted to account for local population changes. Ringwood North was transferred to Warrandyte, while parts of Blackburn, Forest Hill, Vermont, and Heathmont were absorbed into the seat.

Ringwood is an eastern suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 29 km (18 mi) east of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Maroondah local government area. Ringwood recorded a population of 19,144 at the 2021 census.Ringwood has many parks and reserves, most notably Ringwood Lake, an 8.5-hectare park is used for various recreational activities which includes a lake with bridge, sound shell, mining history display, playground, picnic shelters, barbecues and a bushland walking circuit.

Croydon South is a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 32 km east of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Maroondah local government area. Croydon South recorded a population of 4,759 at the 2021 census.Croydon South has two main retail areas, Eastfield Shopping Centre on the corner of Eastfield and Bayswater Roads, incorporating over 20 retail outlets and a post office and Merrindale Shopping Centre on Dorset Road. Croydon South is close to the foothills of Mount Dandenong and the Dandenong Ranges. Croydon South Post Office opened on 1 February 1961 as the suburb was developed.

Ringwood North is a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 30 km east of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the Cities of Manningham and Maroondah local government areas. Ringwood North recorded a population of 9,964 at the 2021 census.The suburb is mostly located within the City of Maroondah, with a small part in the north west of the suburb being located within the City of Manningham. It is bounded on the south by Loughnan, Warrandyte and Wonga Roads (these roads flow into one another continuously). Glenvale Road forms the westernmost boundary in the southern part of the suburb, with the Warrandyte-Ringwood Road forming the western boundary at the northern end of the suburb. The eastern and northern boundaries follow property lines, rather than roads. Ringwood North Post Office opened on 9 August 1920, in the then rural area.Ringwood North has its own shopping centre and also has plenty of parklands and reserves nearby without being excessively rural, like Wonga Park or Warrandyte. Its roads feature a happy medium between the sterile, parallel streetscapes of Ringwood and the circular, 'contour-line' style streets found in neighbouring Park Orchards. Ringwood North is a surprisingly hilly area, which is especially evident around the aptly named Loughnan's Hill area and the infamously steep Glenvale Road. Glenvale Road also happens to mark the boundary between Ringwood North and Donvale and also the boundary between Maroondah and Manningham. Glenvale Road is also home to an 80-year-old Tudor house of famous heritage.
