The Butterfly Club is a performing arts venue in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Drawing from a growing interest in cabaret, the club was conceived and created by artist and entrepreneur, Matthew Grant. Grant lived and worked from the building from 1993, opening it to the public in 1999. Grant sold the club in November 2003. By 2006 the club was Melbourne's only full-time cabaret venue.The Butterfly Club has presented more than 1,000 new works, with performers including Tim Minchin and Eddie Perfect. Under the stewardship of David Read and Neville Sice, over eight years, the venue became sustainable using an arts model which doesn't rely on public subsidy.The club, together with the Australian National Academy of Music, has played a role in developing the Melbourne Cabaret Festival. In January 2011. The Butterfly Club again changed hands to new director, Simone Pulga.In December 2012, The Butterfly Club announced a planned relocation to a building on Carson Pl. In conjunction with this relocation, a fundraising effort through crowdfunding and social media campaigns, as well as media coverage, was launched under the tagline 'Save The Butterfly Club.' Following the relocation, The Butterfly Club began trading from its new home, in the Melbourne CBD, in February 2013.

South Melbourne is an inner suburb of Melbourne, Australia, 3 km south of Melbourne's Central Business District (CBD). It is in the local government area of the City of Port Phillip. At the 2016 census, South Melbourne had a population of 10,920. Historically known as Emerald Hill, it was one of the first of Melbourne's suburbs to adopt full municipal status and is one of Melbourne's oldest suburban areas, notable for its well preserved Victorian era streetscapes. The current boundaries are complex. Starting at the east end of Dorcas Street, it runs along the rear of properties on St Kilda Road, then south along Albert Road, north up Canterbury Road, along the rear of the north side of St Vincent Place, zigzags west along St Vincent Street, then north up Pickles Street. There is then an arm of former industrial land to the west between Boundary Road, the freeway and Ferrars Street. It then runs along Market Street to Kingsway, then up Dorcas Street to St Kilda Road.

Armstrong Studios, also known as Bill Armstrong's Studio and later renamed AAV (Armstrong Audio Video), is an Australian commercial recording studio located in Melbourne, Victoria. During the decade from 1965 to 1975, Armstrong Studios in South Melbourne was arguably the top independent recording studio in Australasia.

Park Towers is a 31-storey public housing tower in South Melbourne, Victoria built 1967–69. It is historically and architecturally the most significant of the 47 public housing towers in Victoria. At the time of its completion in 1969, the building was believed to be the tallest pre-cast load-bearing wall building in the world and had more storeys than any other building in Melbourne. It attracted international attention from architects in America, Italy, England and the USSR, and was published in several overseas sources including the RIBA Journal in January 1971. The City of South Melbourne also gave it a special award, as the best residential building erected in the municipality that year. Park Towers has 299 properties and is entirely owned and managed by Homes Victoria, a government agency that sits within Department of Families, Fairness and Housing. In recent times, residents of the building have raised concerns with the increase in crime and drug use within the building as well as poor maintenance. Park Towers is one of Melbournes 44 Public Housing Towers scheduled to be demolished by 2051.

A pair of low level side platforms now serve route 96 trams on the light rail line, with a pedestrian crossing located in between.

The See Yup Temple (Chinese: 四邑關帝廟) is a heritage-listed Chinese temple located at 76 Raglan Street, South Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. The current building was erected in 1866 for the See Yup Society, as the principal centre of worship and death registry of descendants from the See Yup area in Victoria. The temple is dedicated to Kuan Ti. It also contains halls to Ts'ai Sheng Yeh, the Taoist God of Wealth and to Kuanyin, the Buddhist Goddess of Mercy and Compassion. It is the oldest surviving and continuously operating Chinese temple in Australia.

Melbourne South was an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Victoria from 1889 to 1904. Southbank is an inner urban neighbourhood of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 1 km south of the Melbourne central business district. Its local government area are the cities of Melbourne and Port Phillip. At the 2016 Census, Southbank had a population of 18,709. Its southernmost area is considered part of the central business district of the city. Southbank is bordered to the north by the Yarra River, and to the east by St Kilda Road. Southbank's southern and western borders are bounded by Dorcas Street, Kings Way, Market Street, Ferrars Street, and a triangle bordered by Gladstone Street, Montague Street, and the West Gate Freeway.Southbank was formerly a mostly industrial area, and simply part of the locality of South Melbourne, and the City of South Melbourne. It was transformed into a densely populated district of high rise apartment and office buildings beginning in the early 1990s, as part of an urban renewal program. With the exceptions of the cultural precinct along St Kilda Road, few of the older industrial buildings were identified for retention. Today, Southbank is dominated by high-rise development. It is one of the primary business centres in Greater Melbourne, being the headquarters of Treasury Wine Estates, Crown Limited, Alumina, Incitec Pivot, The Herald and Weekly Times (including the Herald Sun), as well as regional offices of many major corporations, in a cluster of towers with over 340,000 square metres of office space in 2008. It is also one of the most densely populated areas of Melbourne, with a large cluster of apartment towers, including Australia's tallest tower measured to its highest floor, the Australia 108. Southbank Promenade and Southgate Restaurant and Shopping Precinct, on the southern bank of the Yarra River, extending to Crown Casino, is one of Melbourne's major entertainment precincts. Southgate's landmark Ophelia sculpture by Deborah Halpern has been used to represent Melbourne in tourism campaigns.

St Vincent Gardens in the Melbourne suburb of Albert Park, is an Australian park of national significance. It is an example of nineteenth century residential development around a large landscaped square. Development occurred as a result of a boom following the Victorian gold rush. It was influenced by similar, urban design in London, but such design on such a scale is unparalleled in Australia. In the shape of a large rectangular area with semi-circular crescents at either end, the heritage area includes the St Vincent Place precinct bounded by Park Street, Cecil Street, Bridport Street, Cardigan Place and Nelson Road. The park is bisected by Montague Street, allowing the passage of trams on route 1. Several of the streets are lined with the original cobbled blue stone and gutters. It is registered with the National Trust of Australia and on the Victorian Heritage register for its aesthetic, historical, architectural and social significance to the State of Victoria.

Planetshakers Church is an evangelical Christian Pentecostal megachurch adult and youth movement based in Melbourne, Australia, with several church campuses around the world. The church is also known for its contemporary worship music, with its bands Planetshakers and Planetboom, and its record label Planetshakers Ministries International, whose songs have been translated and reinterpreted in many evangelical churches of the world.

Albert Park is a former railway station on the former St Kilda line, located in the Melbourne suburb of Albert Park, Victoria (Australia). The station is located on Ferrars Street just to the north of Albert Road, just minutes walk from the Bob Jane Stadium, current home of the South Melbourne Soccer club and the former home of the South Melbourne Football Club.
