Emerald is a town in the Greater Melbourne area of Victoria, Australia, 44 km south-east of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the Shires of Cardinia and Yarra Ranges local government areas. Emerald recorded a population of 5,890 at the 2021 census.Emerald also includes Cardinia Reservoir, Melbourne's second largest reservoir.

3MDR is one of many community radio stations broadcasting in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. covering the Shire of Yarra Ranges and Shire of Cardinia from a studio located in Upwey.3MDR broadcasts locally on the frequency of 97.1fm – listeners from all over the world can tune in online @ www.3MDR.com. The main aim of 3MDR is to provide an independent community voice for the Mountain District area, with interactive local news, culture, entertainment and emergency alerts. 3MDR mountain district radio 97.1fm is a community broadcaster based east of Melbourne in the forest-covered mountains of the Dandenong Ranges. From a homely little studio in Upwey, 3MDR broadcasts across the Mountain District area, reaching out to the communities of Ferntree Gully, Upwey, Monbulk, Silvan, Gembrook, Pakenham, Beaconsfield, Belgrave, Emerald, Cockatoo and everywhere in between. The signal can be picked up much further away and can be webstreamed online anywhere in the world (with the necessary implements, computer, internet etc.). In 2013 3MDR won the Community Broadcasting Association Australia's 'Contribution to Australian Music' Award, sponsored by APRA, for the A Mountain of Sound project – an annually released triple disc compilation CD, featuring 52 songs by 52 artists from Dandenong Ranges, all recorded live by 3MDR.

Nobelius Siding is situated on the Puffing Billy Railway in Emerald. The siding was built in 1904 to serve the adjacent packing shed, built in the same year, from which nursery seedlings and plants were shipped throughout Australia by C.A. Nobelius' Gembrook Nurseries. The Nobelius nursery was once the largest plant nursery in the Southern Hemisphere with 200,000 trees grown on 180 hectares.The Packing Shed has been restored by Puffing Billy volunteers and is now used by the Railway as a function centre, particularly as a venue for Puffing Billy’s various evening dining experiences, such as "Murder on the Puffing Billy Express".

Nobelius railway station is situated on the Puffing Billy Railway, and opened in 1927. It was named after the founder of the nearby Gembrook Nurseries, Carl Axel Nobelius, and his family.The station consists of a short platform with a "Mallee Shed"-type corrugated iron waiting shelter, which includes a small lockable room, although there was a more substantial building in the past. Trains do not usually stop at the station, except by prior arrangement.

Clematis railway station is situated on the Puffing Billy Railway. It was opened on 10 March 1902 as Paradise Valley. The name was shortened to Paradise in 1908 and changed to Clematis in 1921. Trains rarely stop here, except by prior arrangement, often for groups travelling to the Paradise Hotel (behind the station). Clematis contains a small loop siding with a dead end spur, which are staff operated.

Lakeside railway station is situated on the Puffing Billy Railway in Melbourne, Australia. It was opened in 1944 to serve Emerald Lake Park, a popular picnic and recreation reserve created during World War II. The station originally consisted of a short single-face platform on the up side of the line, approximately on the site of the current locomotive water tanks. It had a name board and a red flag for intending passengers to signal to the train crew, but no shelter. Lakeside today is a staff station, with a passing loop, island platform and waiting shelters. A booking office and refreshment room is across the track on what was the post-reopening single-face platform. There is also a second loop siding beyond the former park access road for the single-face third platform which services the Visitor Centre. A short, dead-end spur extends past the down end of this loop siding. Of interest is a working wig-wag level crossing warning signal, which operates at the former park access road between the platform and storage siding. It is believed to be the only regularly operating wig-wag signal in Victoria. Australia's biggest model railway, the Emerald Lake Model Railway, is located near the station.

Mount Majestic is a 366-metre (1,201 ft) mountain in Victoria, Australia, primarily within the town of Cockatoo. It is located in the Cardinia region, about 47 kilometres (29 mi) east of the state capital Melbourne. Its peak about 9 metres (30 ft) above the surrounding terrain. The area near Mount Majestic it is quite sparsely populated, with 34 inhabitants per square kilometre. The nearest major community is Berwick, about 15 kilometres to the southwest. Vegetation in the area of the mountain is primarily evergreen decidious forest. The average annual rainfall is 1,391 millimetres (54.8 in). The wettest month is June, with an average of 161 millimetres (6.3 in) of precipitation, and the driest is January, with 57 millimetres (2.2 in) of precipitation.

Wright railway station is situated on the Puffing Billy Railway, Melbourne, Australia. It opened on 24 October 1904 as part of the Gembrook railway line. It served the Wright Forest and small township of Avonsleigh, and consisted of only a small Mallee shed and a name board. When the Gembrook line was officially closed on 30 April 1954, the site fell into disrepair, and by the 1990s, little trace of Wright remained. However, by that time, efforts were being made to extend the railway to the entire length of the original line from Lakeside through to Gembrook. Wright was officially re-opened on 18 October 1998, but a replica of the original shed was not rebuilt until sometime later. Trains do not normally stop at Wright.

It is a semi-urban electorate extending from the outer south-eastern suburbs of Melbourne to the westernmost areas of Gippsland. It fully incorporates the suburbs of Beaconsfield, Officer and Pakenham, the majority of Clyde North and Harkaway, and eastern portions of Berwick. The division also covers towns beyond the metropolitan area such as Beaconsfield Upper, Bunyip, Cockatoo, Emerald, Garfield, Gembrook, Koo Wee Rup, Lang Lang, Nar Nar Goon and Pakenham Upper.

Menzies Creek is a township in Victoria, Australia, 40 km east of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the Shires of Cardinia and Yarra Ranges local government areas. Menzies Creek recorded a population of 966 at the 2021 census.Menzies' Creek Post Office opened on 2 May 1887 and closed in 1980.Menzies Creek railway station opened on 18 December 1900 with the opening of the Gembrook line. The station name was changed to Aura on 5 December 1904—while the Post Office remained Menzies Creek—but reverted to Menzies Creek on 4 July 1947. The area is named after James Menzies, a gold digger in the 1860s, who worked the area for many years and is believed to be buried locally.
