Jenny Lind is a small neighbourhood in the Scottish city of Glasgow. It is situated south of the River Clyde, contiguous with the larger Deaconsbank neighbourhood and across a dual carriageway (A727 Nitshill Road) from the Arden and Thornliebank Industrial Estate. It was extended slightly in the 21st century by the addition of Jenny Lind Court. Jenny Lind falls under the Glasgow City Council Greater Pollok ward and has a short border with Deaconsbank Golf Club and Rouken Glen Park in the East Renfrewshire council region.

Carnwadric is a residential area of Glasgow, Scotland. It is situated south of the River Clyde, and is bordered by a park to the north (King George V Park, on the other side of which is the Kennishead neighbourhood), the Arden housing estate to the west, by the village of Thornliebank (East Renfrewshire) to the south and by the Auldhouse Burn to the east.

Thornliebank (Scots: Thonliebank, Scottish Gaelic: Bruach nan Dealgan) is a suburban area in East Renfrewshire, in the west central Lowlands of Scotland. Part of the Greater Glasgow conurbation, it is located on the Auldhouse Burn about six miles (ten kilometres) south of Glasgow city centre, and just outside the city's administrative boundaries (the closest neighbourhoods within Glasgow, to the west and north of Thornliebank, being Arden, Carnwadric, Eastwood, Jenny Lind and Mansewood). The neighbouring East Renfrewshire town of Giffnock lies directly to the east, with Rouken Glen Park to the south. The original village was founded in the 18th century and began to develop after the opening of a printworks in 1778, and subsequently other light industry. Despite industrial decline in the 20th century, Thornliebank continued to expand due to extensive public and private housing construction. As of the 2011 Census, the area has a population of 4,051.

Deaconsbank is a neighbourhood in the Scottish city of Glasgow. It is situated south of the River Clyde. The main feature of the area, which falls into the Greater Pollok ward of Glasgow City Council and directly borders the East Renfrewshire council region, is an estate of around 639 private houses built in the late 1970s by Barratt Developments, prior to which the area was open farmland. Deaconsbank is bordered by the M77 motorway to the west and by Rouken Glen Park and golf course to the east. The northern parts of the suburban town of Newton Mearns are a short distance to the south, as is Patterton railway station.

Arden is a medium-sized housing estate on the south-western edge of the city of Glasgow, Scotland. The M77 motorway runs directly to the west of the neighbourhood, with Junction 3 serving the area; a small industrial estate is located to the south-east (this falls within Glasgow although is named after the neighbouring settlement of Thornliebank in East Renfrewshire). The residential area of Carnwadric is to the north-east of Arden, and the Jenny Lind part of Deaconsbank to the south, while the land to the north is open ground (formerly Kennishead Farm) and woodland.

Kennishead (Scots: Kennisheid, Scottish Gaelic: Ceann Ceanais) is a neighbourhood in the Scottish city of Glasgow. Its territory, south of the River Clyde, is fairly isolated, bordering a park to the south and a golf course to the north, as well as the residential area of Carnwadric. The majority of the housing consists of three (originally five, two since demolished) high rise tower blocks of 23 storeys, which dominate the area visually.The area is also home to the disused farm from which it takes its name, formerly owned by Sir John Maxwell. Kennishead was originally called "Kenneth's Head".Kennishead railway station is on the Glasgow South Western Line to Barrhead.

Woodfarm High School is a Scottish comprehensive secondary school in Woodfarm, East Renfrewshire. It has a roll of approximately 800 pupils. Gillian Boyle is the acting Headmistress, taking over from Nicola MacGlashan who left to join nearby Williamwood High School in August 2021.In 2012, it was ranked the 7th best state school in Scotland by the percentage of fifth years attaining at least five Higher passes.

Kennishead railway station is a railway station in Kennishead, a district of Glasgow, Scotland. The station is managed by ScotRail and is on the Glasgow South Western Line, 4+1⁄4 miles (6.8 km) south of Glasgow Central.

Rouken Glen Park is a public park in East Renfrewshire, to the south-west of Glasgow, Scotland.

Eastwood High School is a comprehensive, non-denominational school located centrally in East Renfrewshire to the south of Glasgow, Scotland. It is one of the successor schools to Eastwood Senior Secondary School which opened in 1936 in Clarkston, Glasgow. The head teacher is Kate Sinclair. Eastwood High School is situated on Capelrig Road and has a large suburban, and partly rural, catchment area. It stands in the grounds of Capelrig House constructed in 1769, which is a Category A building listed as being of architectural and historical importance. The school serves the immediate area of Newton Mearns and the villages of Neilston and Uplawmoor. Eastwood High School's cluster primary schools are Crookfur, Mearns, Neilston and Uplawmoor. A new state-of-the-art school building was built, replacing the 1960s building, and is now in full use. It was opened in August 2013. This has improved the teaching facilities and the whole school environment and has been a major step in developing further the pupil experience. The improvements include two all-weather pitches and a new sports complex. Presently, the school roll is 1500 pupils. This is expected to increase due to the extensive housebuilding currently taking place around the school.

Capelrig House is an 18th-century house in Newton Mearns, East Renfrewshire, Scotland, upon whose lands is situated Eastwood High School. The house is protected as a Category A listed building.The lands of Capelrig were held by the Knights Templar in the 12th century. Upon the suppression of the Templars, their property passed to the Knights Hospitaller. At the time of the Scottish Reformation, the Hospitallers' lands were surrendered to the Crown, but were returned by Mary, Queen of Scots to Sir James Sandilands, the last preceptor of the Hospitallers in Scotland.Capelrig was later acquired by the Mure family of Caldwell. The Mures sided with the Covenanters during the religious conflicts of the 17th century, and Capelrig was briefly taken by the Royalist General Tam Dalyell of the Binns. The family regained their lands upon the Glorious Revolution of 1688. In 1765 Capelrig Estate was bought by Robert Barclay, whose mentor was William Mure and who gave him a lucrative post as a tax collector, becoming Depute Admiral of the Clyde. Barclay was regarded as the best whist player in Glasgow in his day and was a lawyer in the city in the firm of Barclay & Grahame. In 1769 a new house was erected, the present house in the Georgian style. It and the Estate descended through his family to James Barclay Murdoch, noted historian and antiquarian - and himself a descendant of the Browns and of the Murdochs who were Provosts of Glasgow. A wing was added to the south-west in 1913 by its new owner Kenneth Weir, on the occasion of his marriage. He later became the 2nd Viscount Weir of Eastwood. Much of the Estate continued to be owned by the Murdoch Trust families. In 1948 Kenneth Weir sold the House and farmlands to John Lawrence & Co Ltd, housebuilders, To provide for a new school Capelrig House and its immediate policies were purchased by the then Council of County of Renfrew who wished to demolish the building but were dissuaded after a public outcry. It was refurbished as an arts centre, and has been used as offices by East Renfrewshire Council.
