Heiligenkreuz Abbey (German: Stift Heiligenkreuz; English: Abbey of the Holy Cross) is a Cistercian monastery in the village of Heiligenkreuz in the southern part of the Vienna woods, c. 13 km north-west of Baden in Lower Austria. It is the oldest continuously occupied Cistercian monastery in the world.

Heiligenkreuz (Central Bavarian: Heilingkreiz) is a municipality in the district of Baden, in the Austrian state of Lower Austria. It is known for the Cistercian monastery of Heiligenkreuz Abbey, the associated papal college Benedict XVI, commonly known as Hochschule Heiligenkreuz, and the Catholic Leopoldinum seminary.

The Via Sacra (Latin for Holy Road) is a centuries old pilgrimage trail in Lower Austria. It starts in Vienna and passes through the Wienerwald to Mariazell. One version of the route starts in Vienna and passes by the Wildegg Castle along the way to Heiligenkreuz. Another version of the trail starts in Brunn am Gebirge goes from Mödling through Gaaden, Heiligenkreuz, Alland, and the pilgrimage destination Hafnerberg, first into the Triestingtal, and then over the Gerichtsberg into the Gölsental and Traisental. Along it there are many remarkable shrines. The pilgrims have been an economic factor in the area since early in its history. There are many inns on the trail, which live off the pilgrims.

Wienerwald (Central Bavarian: Weanawoid) is a Municipality in the district of Mödling in the Austrian state of Lower Austria. It is named after the forest Wienerwald.

Gaaden (Central Bavarian: Goodn) is a town in the district of Mödling in the Austrian state of Lower Austria.

The Merkenstein ruins are the remains of a castle in Lower Austria near Bad Vöslau in the Großau cadastre (property register). In some sources, it is mentioned as early as the year 1141. The first definite mention is in the Codex Falkensteinensis in 1170. Ludwig van Beethoven dedicated two Lieder to the ruin.

Burgruine Rauhenstein is a castle in Baden bei Wien, Lower Austria, Austria. It was constructed in the 12th century. It is known to be the location where Karl van Beethoven, Ludwig van Beethoven's nephew, attempted suicide in July 1826.

Kleiner Semmering Pass (el. 463 m [1,519 ft]) is a low mountain pass in the Wienerwald in the Bundesland of Lower Austria. It forms the divide between the watersheds of the Vienna River and the Liesingbach.

Rauheneck Castle (German: Burgruine Rauheneck) is a ruined castle in Lower Austria, Austria. It is 348 metres (1,142 ft) above sea level.

The Weilburg palace (German: Schloss Weilburg) is a former neoclassical palace in Baden near Vienna, Austria. Constructed in 1820, it was a present from archduke Charles, duke of Teschen (1771–1847) to his beloved wife, princess Henrietta of Nassau-Weilburg (1797–1829). The neoclassical design was by the architect Joseph Kornhäusel (1782–1860). It became the seat of the Teschen branch of the Habsburg family. A fire broke out in April 1945, probably lit by retreating soldiers of the Wehrmacht and as the Red Army prohibited the fire to be extinguished, the palace was destroyed. Due to misunderstanding and ignorance, the ruins were blown up in the 1960s. Today, nothing is left from this beautiful palace except the coat of arms, which once decorated the palace. The palace was once considered the most significant example of Biedermeier style in Austria.
