Steam Mills Crossing Halt railway station served the village of Steam Mills, Gloucestershire, England, from 1907 to 1930 on the Mitcheldean Road and Forest of Dean Junction Railway.

Steam Mills is a village in the Forest of Dean, west Gloucestershire, England. During the 18th and 19th centuries there were local coal mines and a steam-powered mill, which lead to the name of the village. An engineering works was established in the 1880s to support the mining.Today the village has an industrial park for businesses (including Freeminers Brewery, named after the Forest of Dean custom of free-mining), a petrol filling station and a carpet shop. The village is home to Steam Mills Primary School designed by architect Alfred Smith. The 5 acres (2.0 ha) lake is used for angling with Carp, Bream and Brown Trout being caught.

The Cinderford Canal was a private canal, opened in about 1797, in Gloucestershire, England, which was used to provide coke and water to Cinderford Ironworks.

Laymoor Quag (grid reference SO644146) is a 3.5-hectare (8.6-acre) nature reserve within the Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire. The site is listed in the 'Forest of Dean Local Plan Review' as a Key Wildlife Site (KWS).The site is owned by the Forestry Commission and managed under agreement by the Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust since 1982.

Cinderford New railway station was a disused railway station that was opened by the former Severn and Wye Railway to serve the mining town of Cinderford. The station was later operated by both the Midland Railway and Great Western Railway after a loop to the station, via Cinderford Junction from the Forest of Dean Branch (ex Bullo Pill Railway) at Bilson was constructed.

Nailbridge Halt railway station served the suburb of Nailbridge, Gloucestershire, England, from 1907 to 1930 on the Mitcheldean Road and Forest of Dean Junction Railway.

Harrow Hill is a village situated in the Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire, England. It is contiguous with the larger village of Drybrook. Originally, the village was known as Harry Hill. "Until fairly recently the village was once called Harry Hill" The Harrow Hill church, Holy Trinity, was opened in 1817, and is known as The Forest Church. The village has its own football club, Harrow Hill F.C. The main route that bisects the village is Trinity Road. This links the village to Drybrook and the A4136 (Gloucester to Monmouth). At the halfway point of the road stands a battle weary red telephone box, which is sadly in a state of neglect. From here, there are good views across the valley to Ruardean Hill. The Football club can be found at the end of Larksfield Road, and is easily located by the floodlight towers that stand on the corners of the main pitch (a further pitch is located adjacent to the car park).

Cinderford is a town and civil parish on the eastern fringe of the Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire, England. The population was 8,777 at the 2021 Census.The town came into existence in the 19th century, following the rapid expansion of Cinderford Ironworks and the Forest of Dean Coalfield. Cinderford's origins can be seen in the style and layout of the town, with long rows of identical terraced housing similar to those found in the mining villages of the South Wales Valleys. The decline of the coal industry in the 1950s and 1960s affected Cinderford as most of the male population was employed in mining.

The site is listed in the Forest of Dean Local Plan Review as a Key Wildlife Site (KWS).

Forest High School is a coeducational secondary school with academy status, located in Cinderford in the English county of Gloucestershire.The school was established as Double View Secondary Modern School on Woodville Road in Cinderford, but expanded to the current site on Causeway Road in the early-mid-1970s. The school continued to operate over both sites until 1979 when the Woodville Road site closed. Double View was renamed Heywood School in the mid-1980s, and later Heywood Community School in the early 1990s. Heywood Community School became a foundation school in the 2000s, and was administered by Gloucestershire County Council until September 2012 when the school converted to academy status. The school was renamed Forest E-ACT Academy, and was sponsored by E-ACT. However in 2014 the E-Act announced that they would be withdrawing as sponsor, and that the school would join the Redhill Academy Trust and was then renamed Forest Academy. However in 2015 the new academy sponsor was named as the SGS Schools Trust, and the school was renamed The Forest High School.

Cinderford Town Association Football Club is a football club based in Cinderford in Gloucestershire, England. Affiliated to the Gloucestershire County FA, they are currently members of the Hellenic League Premier Division and play at the Causeway Ground.
