2020 Henderson shooting

On May 4, 1988, a fire followed by several explosions occurred at the Pacific Engineering and Production Company of Nevada (PEPCON) chemical plant in Henderson, Nevada. The disaster caused two fatalities, 372 injuries, and an estimated $100 million of damage. A large portion of the Las Vegas Valley within a 10-mile (16 km) radius of the plant was affected, and several agencies activated disaster plans.

With the decline of magnesium production, the Nevada legislature approved a bill that gave Nevada's Colorado River Commission the authority to purchase the industrial plants, and Henderson was incorporated in 1953. Sunset Station is a hotel and locals casino in Henderson, Nevada. It is owned and operated by Station Casinos. It opened on June 10, 1997, as Henderson's first hotel-casino resort. The property features a Spanish/Mediterranean theme. Amenities include a 163,951 sq ft (15,231.5 m2) casino and 448 rooms in a 21-story tower, the city's tallest building. Other features include a movie theater, a 72-lane bowling alley, and various restaurants.

Green Valley is a master planned community located in Henderson, Nevada, and Southern Nevada's first master-planned community built before Summerlin. The Green Valley Master Community development was founded in 1978 by American Nevada Corporation in an area of 8,400 acres (34 km2) in the southeast part of the Las Vegas Valley. Smaller neighborhoods called Green Valley Ranch and Green Valley South are within the boundaries of the master community. Green Valley South began construction around 1985, while Green Valley Ranch began construction in 1994. Shopping, bars, and restaurants are located at The District at Green Valley Ranch. Galleria at Sunset (informally referred to as Galleria Mall) is an indoor shopping mall at 1300 West Sunset Road in Henderson, Nevada. It is owned by Forest City Enterprises and Queensland Investment Corporation, and managed by Forest City. Plans to build the mall were announced in 1987, but construction did not begin until 1995. It opened on February 28, 1996, and received its first major renovation in 2013, followed by an expansion which added several restaurants. It is Henderson's first and only indoor mall, and one of four indoor malls in the Las Vegas Valley. It is also one of the largest malls in the state, with 1,080,208 square feet (100,354.6 m2). Anchor tenants include Dick's Sporting Goods (formerly Galyan's), Dillard's, JCPenney, Kohl's (formerly Mervyn's), and Macy's (formerly Robinsons-May).

The Acacia Demonstration Gardens is a public park in Henderson, Nevada that features many examples of how to landscape in a dry desert climate. The park was built by the Conservation District Southern Nevada in coordination with the City of Henderson.

Santa Fe Valley (also known later as the Santa Fe Galleria Hotel & Casino) is a cancelled hotel-casino that was planned by Santa Fe Gaming for 40 acres (16 ha) of land in Henderson, Nevada, next to the Galleria at Sunset mall. The project was announced in 1994, and construction was expected to begin in July 1996. The start of construction was delayed several times because of poor financial quarters for Santa Fe Gaming and because of the company not yet receiving financing for the project. Site preparation started in July 1998, with an opening date scheduled for December 1999, but construction never began. In 1999, the property was sold to Station Casinos, which sold the land a year later for use as a shopping center.

The Henderson Pavilion was an amphitheater in Henderson, Nevada used primarily for music performances. The Henderson Pavilion was known for its 40,000-square-foot (3,700 m2) canopy style roof. This allowed for the feeling of both being inside and outdoors at the same time.The Henderson Pavilion was the largest open-air amphitheater in Nevada and the first of its kind in Southern Nevada. The Henderson Pavilion was owned by the City of Henderson and was the home of the Henderson Symphony Orchestra, and the host of many of musical events each year.It was located at 200 South Green Valley Parkway, Henderson, Nevada 89012, south of the I-215 freeway and the Green Valley Ranch. The box office was located inside the Henderson Multigenerational Center just adjacent to the venue at 250 South Green Valley Parkway, Henderson, Nevada 89012. The pavilion was torn down in August 2020 and replaced by the Dollar Loan Center, which houses the Henderson Silver Knights of the American Hockey League, affiliate of the Vegas Golden Knights of the National Hockey League.

The Dollar Loan Center is a multi-purpose indoor arena in Henderson, Nevada. Built on the site of the former Henderson Pavilion, it is the home of the Henderson Silver Knights of the American Hockey League, the Vegas Knight Hawks of the Indoor Football League and the NBA G League Ignite of the NBA G League. The City of Henderson is the building owner with the National Hockey League's Vegas Golden Knights as its operator. The Dollar Loan Center seats 5,567 for hockey and football. Initially called the Henderson Event Center, on March 30, 2021, the Golden Knights and Silver Knights announced a naming rights partnership with Dollar Loan Center, a Las Vegas-based short-term loan company, for the arena to be called The Dollar Loan Center. The name of the arena is disambiguated with the article "The" to differentiate it from the company.The arena's primary function is to serve as the home of the Henderson Silver Knights of the American Hockey League and the arena was constructed primarily for that purpose. The Vegas Golden Knights purchased the AHL franchise known as the San Antonio Rampage on February 6, 2020, from Spurs Sports & Entertainment. The sale of the team and its relocation to the Las Vegas suburb of Henderson was approved by the AHL Board of Governors on February 28, 2020. The first Silver Knights game played at The Dollar Loan Center was on April 2, 2022.In May 2021, the Indoor Football League (IFL) announced that Bill Foley, owner of the National Hockey League's Vegas Golden Knights, had purchased an IFL franchise to compete at The Dollar Loan Center. On August 23, 2021, Foley announced that the team would be known as the Vegas Knight Hawks and that Mike Davis would be the franchise's general manager and head coach. On May 10, 2022, it was announced that the IFL National Championship game would be played at The Dollar Loan Center for the 2022–2024 seasons.The Big West Conference announced on June 24, 2021, that the men's and women's basketball championships would be held at The Dollar Loan Center starting in 2022 – the tournament was the first ticketed event held at the arena.
