East Nashville Historic District is a historic neighborhood in East Nashville, Tennessee. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places listings in Davidson County, Tennessee (NRHP) in 1982.

The Holly Street Fire Hall, at 1600 Holly St. in Nashville, Tennessee, was built in 1914. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.It is a red brick two-story fire station designed with elements of Colonial Revival and/or Classical Revival style by Nashville's first city architect James Yeaman to fit into its neighborhood, a residential area with houses having columns and porticos.The fire hall sustained extensive damage during the Nashville 2020 Tornado which struck around 12:45 AM on March 3, 2020. The fire hall lost its roof and many windows.

East Nashville Magnet High School (formerly East Literature Magnet School and commonly referred to as just East) is a public magnet high school located in Nashville, Tennessee. Students were once enrolled through a lottery process, but the school now has open enrollment. In August 2016, the middle school students were relocated two miles away to what used to be Bailey STEM Magnet School before its closure. However, in August 2019, the middle school students returned to the junior high building.

The Lockeland Springs historic neighborhood is a turn-of-the-20th-century streetcar suburb two miles northeast of downtown Nashville, Tennessee, in East Nashville. In 1786, this land was granted by the State of North Carolina to Daniel Williams, in payment for service in the Revolutionary War. The first house in the area was the log cabin Williams built on the site of the present Lockeland School. The first mansion built in this area was named by Col. Robert Weakley after his wife Jane Locke Weakleys family in the early 19th century thus naming Lockeland Springs. Later, country estates dotted the landscape: Lockeland, Lynnlawn, Edgewood, and Springside, to name a few. Subdivision of these estates began in the 1870s, and the building of the Woodland Street Bridge in 1886 and the introduction of electric streetcars spurred suburban development. By 1890, electric streetcar lines linked east Nashville with downtown. Prior to this, only the wealthy could afford to commute from their estates to the other side of the Cumberland River. Access was further facilitated by the construction of the Shelby Street Bridge in 1909. Lockeland Springs was annexed to the City of Nashville in 1905. During the Nashville Tornado Outbreak of 1998, many of the area's homes were damaged or destroyed. The neighborhood was subsequently hit by the Nashville 2020 Tornado around 12:45 AM on March 3, 2020. The tornado, which passed through much of Nashville, was categorized as an EF3 when it passed through Lockeland Springs. The tornado travelled east to west, destroying several commercial buildings in Five Points, then damaging and destroying numerous homes along Woodland, Holly, Russell and Fatherland Streets. The historic Holly Street Fire Hall sustained extensive damage. The tornado then exited Lockeland Springs as it passed through the Shelby Golf Course and crossed Riverside Drive. Former Nashville Mayor Bill Purcell resides in Lockeland Springs. There are over 1500 households in the neighborhood. The neighborhood association was formed in 1978.

The James A. Cayce Administration Service Building is a building located in Nashville, Tennessee. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places listings in Davidson County, Tennessee in 2019.

The James A. Cayce Homes is a housing project in East Nashville, Tennessee, U.S.. It was built in 1939-1941 as a white-only community. By the 2000s, it was the lowest-income locality in Nashville. It is the largest housing project in Nashville.

The Hattie Cotton Elementary School bombing on September 10, 1957 was a destructive bombing by pro-segregationists of an elementary school in Nashville, Tennessee shortly after it admitted its first African American student in the midst of the Civil Rights Movement. The school is now known as Hattie Cotton STEM Magnet Elementary School, and focuses on science, technology, engineering and math for students in grades kindergarten through five.

Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency (MDHA) (1972) is a government agency in Nashville, Tennessee. The original agency was formed in 1938 and it was called the Nashville Housing Authority (NHA). The goal of the MDHA is to provide affordable housing for low income families. The agency also provides business and personal training to residents of low income housing.

First Baptist Church East Nashville is a historic church at 601 Main Street in Nashville, Tennessee. The Classical Revival building was constructed in 1928 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.

East Nashville is an area east of downtown Nashville in Tennessee across the Cumberland River. The area is mostly residential and mixed-use areas with businesses lining the main boulevards. The main thoroughfares are Gallatin Ave (also known as Gallatin Pike or Gallatin Road along its course) and Ellington Parkway, with smaller arteries interconnecting the neighborhoods. Some of these smaller arteries include Main Street, Shelby Avenue, Porter Road, Riverside Drive, Eastland Avenue, McFerrrin Avenue, and Woodland Street in no significant order. Ellington Parkway, which parallels Gallatin Ave and Main Street, bypasses I-24 and I-65 and connects Briley Parkway and downtown Nashville and many other secondary streets along the way. The Cumberland River confines most of the area with a semicircle design on the south, southwest and east. Since East Nashville has no defined boundaries on the west and north the exact perimeter is the cause of some debate. Some would say that Ellington Parkway creates a boundary on the west and northwest, while Cahal Avenue and Porter Road create the northern boundary, in the confines of zipcode 37206. Many would also state that with I-65 and I-24 as the western border and Briley Parkway as the northern boundary, this defines an area that constitutes Greater East Nashville. East Nashville is one of about 26 suburban neighborhoods in Nashville.
