PEN Bosnia and Herzegovina

Constitutional Court of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (Serbo-Croatian: Ustavni sud Federacije Bosne i Hercegovine) was established by the Constitution of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina entity in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which guarantees its respect and implementation. The operation is based on the provisions of the Constitution of the Federation and the Law on Procedure before the Constitutional Court of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Its seat is in Sarajevo.

RK Bosna Sarajevo is a team handball club based in Centar, Sarajevo, Sarajevo Canton, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is part of the USD Bosna organization with headquarter located at Hamze Hume 2, Sarajevo 71000, Bosnia and Herzegovina.Home games are played in the Mala dvorana Mirza Delibašić KSC Skenderija, Olimpijska dvorana Ramiz Salčin Mojmilo in Novi Grad and the Velika dvorana Mirza Delibašić KSC Skenderija is used when the club is playing more important matches. The club competes in the Handball Championship of Bosnia and Herzegovina and has been dominating the league in the last couple of years, being totally superior the other teams. The good results has given the club an opportunity to play in the best European handball tournaments. RK Bosna Sarajevo has been a participant of the EHF Champions League three years in a row but without any notable results. Their most impressive result was achieved in the 2006-2007 season, after being eliminated in the EHF Champions League they got the chance to play in the EHF Cup Winner's Cup. RK Bosna Sarajevo reached the semi-finals but were eliminated by the German side HSV Handball.

Univerzitetsko sportsko društvo Bosna, (transl. University Sport Society Bosna), commonly abbreviated as USD Bosna, is a multi-sport club based in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

KK Bosna Meridianbet (Bosnian: Košarkaški klub Bosna Meridianbet) is a professional basketball team based in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is the most successful Bosnian club of all time, having been the EuroLeague champion by winning the 1978–79 FIBA European Champions Cup. The club competes in the Basketball Championship of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is part of the University Sport Society USD Bosna (Bosnian: Univerzitetsko sportsko društvo Bosna).

The sack of Sarajevo took place on 23 October 1697 and was committed by raiding Austrian troops led by Prince Eugene of Savoy. At this time the Great Turkish War was being fought. Shortly after the Austrian victory at the Battle of Zenta (today: Senta, Serbia), an opportunity arose for the Austrians to launch a surprise attack into Ottoman Bosnia. The intrusion into Ottoman Bosnia and the subsequent sacking of Sarajevo left the city plague-infected and burned to the ground. After Prince Eugene's men had thoroughly looted the city, they set it on fire and nearly destroyed all of it in one day. Only a few neighbourhoods, some mosques, and an Orthodox church were left standing. As the Austrians were leaving Bosnia, 40,000 Catholics left with them to populate Slavonia that was left deserted after the Ottoman retreat. This exodus of Catholics made them the 3rd religious group in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Sarajevo ( SARR-ə-YAY-voh; Cyrillic: Сарајево, pronounced [sǎrajeʋo] ; see names in other languages) is the capital and largest city of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with a population of 275,524 in its administrative limits. The Sarajevo metropolitan area including Sarajevo Canton, East Sarajevo and nearby municipalities is home to 555,210 inhabitants. Located within the greater Sarajevo valley of Bosnia, it is surrounded by the Dinaric Alps and situated along the Miljacka River in the heart of the Balkans, a region of Southern Europe. Sarajevo is the political, financial, social and cultural center of Bosnia and Herzegovina and a prominent center of culture in the Balkans. It exerts region-wide influence in entertainment, media, fashion and the arts. Due to its long history of religious and cultural diversity, Sarajevo is sometimes called the "Jerusalem of Europe" or "Jerusalem of the Balkans". It is one of a few major European cities to have a mosque, Catholic church, Eastern Orthodox church, and synagogue within the same neighborhood.Although there is evidence of human settlement in the area since prehistoric times, the modern city arose in the 15th century as an Ottoman stronghold when the latter empire extended into Europe. Sarajevo has gained international renown several times throughout its history. In 1885, it was the first city in Europe and the second city in the world to have a full-time electric tram network running through the city, following San Francisco. In 1914, it was the site of the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand by a local Young Bosnia activist Gavrilo Princip, a murder that sparked World War I. This resulted in the end of Austro-Hungarian rule in Bosnia and the creation of the multicultural Kingdom of Yugoslavia in the Balkan region. Later, after World War II, the area was designated the capital of the communist Socialist Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina within the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, leading to rapid expansion of its population and businesses with investment in infrastructure and economic development. In 1984, Sarajevo hosted the 1984 Winter Olympics, which marked a prosperous era for the city. However, after the start of the Yugoslav Wars, the city suffered the longest siege of a capital city in the history of modern warfare, for a total of 1,425 days, from April 1992 to February 1996, during the Bosnian War. With continued post-war reconstruction in the aftermath, Sarajevo is the fastest growing city in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The travel guide series Lonely Planet ranked Sarajevo as the 43rd best city in the world. In December 2009, it recommended Sarajevo as one of the top ten cities to visit in 2010.In 2011, Sarajevo was nominated as the 2014 European Capital of Culture. It was selected to host the European Youth Olympic Festival. In addition, in October 2019, Sarajevo was designated as a UNESCO Creative City for having placed culture at the center of its development strategies. It is also ranked as one of the world's eighteen Cities of Film.

"Sniper Alley" (Serbo-Croatian: Snajperska aleja / Снајперска алеја) was the informal name primarily for streets such as Ulica Zmaja od Bosne (Dragon of Bosnia Street) and Meša Selimović Boulevard, the main boulevard in Sarajevo which during the Bosnian War was lined with Serbian snipers' posts, and became infamous as a dangerous place for civilians to traverse. The road connects the industrial part of the city (and further on, Sarajevo Airport) to the Old Town's cultural and historic sites. The boulevard itself has many high-rise buildings giving sniper shooters extensive fields of fire.Mountains surrounding the city were also used for sniper positions, providing a safe distance and giving an excellent view of the city and its traffic. Although the city was under constant Serb siege, its people still had to move about the city in order to survive, thus routinely risking their lives. Signs reading "Pazi – Snajper!" ("Watch out – Sniper!") became common. People would either run fast across the street or would wait for United Nations armored vehicles and walk behind them, using them as protective shields. According to data gathered in 1995, the snipers wounded 1,030 people and killed 225 - 60 of whom were children.

The Skenderija Bridge (also called Ajfel or Ajfelov most) is a footbridge located in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina opposite the Skenderija Centre which crosses the River Miljacka. It was designed by Gustave Eiffel. The bridge is home to a small number of love locks, a phenomenon practiced by lovers on various European, Asian and Australian bridges.

Koševski Potok is a river in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The river is partially subterranean, as a significant portion of its course passing through long box culvert, covering the river in a man-made structure and diversion project, designed for gaining space for urban development since the late 1940s and early 1950s.

Ali Pasha Mosque (Turkish: Ali Paşa Camii; Bosnian: Ali-pašina džamija) was constructed in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina during 1560–61 as a vakıf—the legacy or perpetual endowment—of Sofu Hadım Ali Pasha, an Ottoman statesman who served as the governor of the Bosnia Eyalet of the Ottoman Empire amongst other roles, after his death in September 1560.

Abdulah "Avdo" Sumbul (27 April 1884 — 8 February 1915) was Serb Muslim literature journal editor and national activist in Austrian annexed Bosnia and Herzegovina. Sumbul belonged to a group of Serb Muslims who were targeted as enemies by Austria Hungary and persecuted because of their ethnicity. He died in Austro-Hungarian concentration camp in Arad.

The Nijaz Duraković Park, formerly and also known as Hastahana, is a park located in Marijin Dvor neighborhood in Centar municipality of Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
