Cadeby Light Railway

Cadeby (pronounced KAYD-bee) is a village and civil parish in the Hinckley and Bosworth district of Leicestershire, England, about 6 miles north of Hinckley, close to Newbold Verdon and Market Bosworth. According to the 2001 census it had a population of 177, reducing to 169 at the 2011 census.The village's name means 'farm/settlement of Kati' or 'farm/settlement belonging to the boys'.

Osbaston is a small village and civil parish in the Hinckley and Bosworth district of Leicestershire, England. At the time of the 2001 Census, the parish had a population of 266, which had fallen slightly to 255 at the 2011 census.

Osbaston Hall is a privately owned 18th-century country house at Osbaston, Leicestershire. It is the home of the de Lisle family and a Grade II* listed building. The oldest fabric of the house dates from the late 16th or early 17th century. The manor was acquired by the Wrightson family in the mid-17th century and passed to the Mundy family when Philipa Wrightson, heiress to the estate, married Francis Mundy of Markeaton Hall. The old manor house was rebuilt in about 1720 by Wrightson Mundy (High Sheriff of Derbyshire and Member of Parliament for Leicester in 1737). The south-facing seven-bayed entrance front has two storeys and attics. The central three bays are recessed and carry a Tuscan porch. The garden or west front has ten bays divided by substantial pilasters. The lake or west front is in three distinct blocks, each of three bays. The house was the home of Francis Noel Clarke Mundy, by whom the estate was sold in 1766. Thereafter, there were several owners. In 1827 it was acquired by Thomas Cope (High Sheriff of Leicestershire in 1856). A later Thomas Cope was in 1918 created the first of the Cope baronets of Osbaston. The house was sold to Jonathan Guinness in 1966 and later to the de Lisles.

Hinckley and Bosworth is a local government district with borough status in Leicestershire, England. The council is based in Hinckley, the largest town. The borough also includes the town of Earl Shilton and numerous villages and surrounding rural areas. The Bosworth in the borough's name refers to the small market town of Market Bosworth, near which the Battle of Bosworth Field was fought in 1485. The neighbouring districts are North West Leicestershire, Charnwood, Blaby, Rugby, Nuneaton and Bedworth and North Warwickshire.

Market Bosworth Country Park is to the east of Market Bosworth town. The 35 hectares (86 acres) landscaped Country Park was formerly part of Bosworth Hall deer parkland. The park features a lake, a planted arboretum with many different exotic species, a wildflower meadow and a community woodland. The park has been award the Green Flag Award.

Sutton Cheney ( SUT-ən CHEE-nee) is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Dadlington and Sutton Cheney, in the borough of Hinckley and Bosworth, in the county of Leicestershire, England, near the county border with Warwickshire. In addition to the village of Sutton Cheney itself, the civil parish also contains the villages of Dadlington and Shenton, a number of farms, and the location of the Battle of Bosworth. Its closest large towns are Nuneaton and Hinckley. Its closest market town is Market Bosworth. The village of Sutton Cheney is clustered around the intersection of four roads: Ambion Lane leading westwards to the village of Shenton; Bosworth Road leading northwest to the neighbouring town of Market Bosworth; Main Street leading northeast to the villages of Cadeby or Stapleton; and Wharf Lane leading southwest to Sutton Cheney Wharf on the Ashby-de-la-Zouch Canal. The civil parish of Dadlington and Sutton Cheney is bordered by the civil parishes of Market Bosworth to the north; Cadeby to the northeast; Peckleton to the east; Barwell, Stoke Golding, and Higham on the Hill to the south; and Sheepy to the west. Its population at the 2021 census was 490, down from 538 in 2011 and from 545 in 2001.

Brascote is a hamlet forming part of the Newbold Verdon civil parish in the Hinckley and Bosworth district of Leicestershire, England. The population is included in the parish of Newbold Verdon. Among a handful of residences is a pub, named The Windmill. Previous medieval and post medieval settlements on the same site were deserted.Brascote House, one of the two farms in Brascote was demolished in 2009 to allow for the land beneath to be quarried.

Bosworth Hall is a historic country house and Grade II* listed building in the rural town of Market Bosworth in Leicestershire, England, now known as the Bosworth Hall Hotel. It was the country seat of the Dixie family (baronets of Bosworth) for nearly three hundred years. Since the 1980s the house has had several owners and is now a hotel.

Newbold Verdon Hall was an 18th-century country house, later a farmhouse, in the village of Newbold Verdon, Leicestershire, England. It is a Grade I listed building.The house was built for Nathaniel Crew, 3rd Baron Crew, Bishop of Durham, but has been modified and extended several times since then. It is constructed of brick with ashlar dressings and has large hipped plain tiled roof with a flat top. It is built to a 2-storey double pile plan of 5 by 3 bays with basement and attic. It is approached from the end of the village main street through a forecourt with 3 pavilions (formerly 4) in the corners and was originally surrounded by a wide moat.

The rural district of Market Bosworth existed from 1894 to 1974 in Leicestershire, England. It was named after Market Bosworth, and was created under the Local Government Act 1894, based on the Market Bosworth rural sanitary district, and that part of the Atherstone rural sanitary district which was in Leicestershire. The parish of Higham on the Hill was added in 1936, from the Hinckley Rural District, which had been abolished under a County Review Order. In 1974 most of the district merged with Hinckley to form the new Hinckley and Bosworth district, apart from Ibstock, which went to North West Leicestershire.

Barlestone is a village and civil parish in the Hinckley and Bosworth district of Leicestershire, England, adjoining the village of Osbaston. The UK Census reported Barlestone's population as 2,471 in 2001, and 2,481 in 2011.

Market Bosworth ( BOZ-wərth) is a market town and civil parish in Leicestershire, England. At the 2001 Census, it had a population of 1,906, increasing to 2,097 at the 2011 census. It is most famously near to the site of the decisive final battle of the Wars of the Roses.In 1974, Market Bosworth Rural District merged with Hinckley Rural District to form the district of Hinckley and Bosworth.
