Crimple railway station

Crimple Valley is an area south of Harrogate (North Yorkshire) surrounding the River Crimple (also known as Crimple Beck). It gave its name to the synthetic yarn Crimplene, which was developed at the nearby ICI Laboratory. It is crossed by the Crimple Valley Viaduct.

Crimple Valley Viaduct, also known as Crimple Viaduct and Crimple Beck Viaduct is a railway viaduct which crosses the Crimple Valley between Pannal railway station and Hornbeam Park railway station in North Yorkshire. It is a Grade II* listed structure.It is 1,872 feet (571 m) long and has 31 arches, each of 52-foot (16 m) span, which reach a maximum height of 110 feet (34 m) above the Crimple Valley. The sharp bend in the track on the south side of the viaduct causes trains to reduce speed significantly, especially on the northbound journey. Older Pacer rolling stock units are locally known to loudly squeal whilst passing around the tight bend due to increased pressure on the bogies and wheels. It was completed in 1848 to designs by George Hudson for the York and North Midland Railway company and built of rusticated grit stone ashlar. The contractor was James Bray.

The Great Yorkshire Show (GYS) is an agricultural show which takes place on the Great Yorkshire Showground in Harrogate, North Yorkshire in the North of England annually from the second Tuesday of July until the following Thursday. It is organised and run by the Yorkshire Agricultural Society (YAS). Since the demise of the Royal Show the GYS has been the largest agricultural show in England, however within the UK it is surpassed by both the Royal Welsh Show and the Royal Highland Show. The show is highly successful and the Society generated income of £9.6 million in 2016. A new Hall at the showground, costing £11 million, opened in 2016 and produced more than £1 million of income in its first year.

Starbeck is an area of Harrogate in North Yorkshire, England. The population of Starbeck Ward taken at the 2011 census was 6,226. It has many facilities, including Starbeck railway station, which serves the Harrogate Line. Frequent services depart to Harrogate, Leeds and York.

Harrogate College is a further education college in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, England. It traces its origins to the University Extension movement, which began in 1873 under the auspices of Cambridge University. It offers several levels of qualifications, including Further and Higher Education courses. Harrogate College relocated in 1985 to Hornbeam Park, after the older Bower Road location of the college in Harrogate closed. The College was known as Harrogate College of Further Education and later Harrogate College of Arts and Technology prior to 1 September 1994, when the name was shortened to Harrogate College.The college is on the former Harrogate ICI Fibres site in four buildings. Harrogate College merged with Leeds Metropolitan University in August 1998 and was classified as a university; the Harrogate College statutory corporation was dissolved on 1 August 1998. On 1 August 2008 management of the college was transferred to Hull College. This was not strictly a merger since Leeds Metropolitan University still had links with Harrogate College through the Regional University Network (RUN).. On 1 August 2019 it transferred from Hull College Group to Luminate Education Group (formerly Leeds City College Group).

Rudding Park Hotel, Spa and Golf is a Grade I listed Regency-style country house in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, England.It is situated within the 2,000-acre (8.1 km2) Rudding Park estate at Follifoot on the southern outskirts of Harrogate. It is a two-storey building made of ashlar with a Westmorland slate roof, designed in the style of the Wyatts by an unknown architect.

St John Fisher Catholic High School, Harrogate, North Yorkshire, England, is an 11–18 Catholic comprehensive school. It has developed steadily during the past 50 years and has around 1,450 pupils. The school is set in 22 acres (8.9 ha) on the south side of Harrogate and skirted by Hookstone Wood.

The St. Aidan's & St. John Fisher Associated Sixth Form was created in 1973 as a venture in ecumenical education. The two schools, St. Aidan's C of E High School and St. John Fisher Catholic High School are based on the south side of Harrogate, North Yorkshire, England, separated by a five-minute walk.The Sixth Form has increased in size since 1973 when with only 70 students, the two sixth forms were too small to run separately. Today, with over 1000 students enrolled, it is the largest associated sixth form in the United Kingdom. This allows it to offer diverse subjects. Although the majority of students come from the two stem schools, students join from other schools in the surrounding area, including those in West Yorkshire, most notably, Wetherby High School, Wetherby and Nidderdale High School and Pateley Bridge. After Sixth Form study, the majority of students continue to college or university.

St Aidan's Church of England High School is a mixed Church of England secondary school and sixth form with academy status, located in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, England. It currently houses over 2500 students of both lower school and sixth form age. The school's Chamber Choir won the 2006 Songs of Praise School Choir of the Year Competition. The next time the school competed, in the 2010 Songs of Praise, the choir was awarded second place.The school was labelled as "outstanding" by an Ofsted report in October 2006. It is ranked 475th in the country for its GCSE results in 2006 by The Times. In 2022, after an inspection in September 2021, Ofsted reported St Aidan's to be "inadequate" marking a fall from the highest to the lowest Ofsted Grades. The rating was due to the "inadequate" Senior Leadership and Safeguarding at the school and the report states pupils were being "put at risk".

Hornbeam Park is a railway station on the Harrogate Line, which runs between Leeds and York via Harrogate. The station, situated 17+1⁄4 miles (28 km) north of Leeds, serves the spa town of Harrogate in North Yorkshire, England. It is owned by Network Rail and managed by Northern Trains.

Bilton Court is a historic building in Harrogate, a town in North Yorkshire, in England. The house was built in about 1740. East and west wings were added in 1820, and in 1889 a chapel was added at the rear of the west wing. In the late 20th century, the house was converted into offices, but in 2023 plans were approved to convert it back into a house, with an extension providing a garage and garden room. The building has been grade II listed since 1975. The house is built of gritstone with a moulded eaves cornice, a panelled parapet and a slate roof. There are two storeys and cellars, three bays, and slightly recessed lower two-storey flanking bays, with hipped roofs and console bracketed cornices. The entrance in the east wing has a Tuscan doorcase, and an arched doorway with a fanlight. The windows are slightly recessed sashes, and in the west wing is a French window. The chapel was later converted into a billiard room, and has wooden panelling and a hammerbeam roof. The house has a coach house and stable block, built in about 1850. It is built of rusticated gritstone, with a floor band, and a hipped slate roof with a central pedimented pigeon loft. There is a central block with two storeys and three bays, and single-storey single-bay wings. In the centre is a round-arched doorway with a fanlight and a keystone, and the windows are recessed horizontally-sliding sashes with segmental heads. It is also grade II listed.

Wetherby Road, known for sponsorship purposes as the EnviroVent Stadium, is a multi-purpose stadium in Harrogate, England. It is mostly used for football matches, being the home ground of Harrogate Town A.F.C. The stadium has a capacity of 5,000 people, and is situated on the A661 Wetherby Road, adjacent to Harrogate District Hospital.
