Mandas is a comune (municipality) in the Province of South Sardinia in the Italian region Sardinia, located about 50 kilometres (31 mi) north of Cagliari. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 2,401 and an area of 45.0 square kilometres (17.4 sq mi).Mandas borders the following municipalities: Escolca, Gergei, Gesico, Nurri, Serri, Siurgus Donigala, Suelli. In January 1921, D. H. Lawrence and his wife Frieda (the Queen-Bee) visited the city on their way to Sorgono. An account of their visit can be read in one of Lawrence's travel books, Sea and Sardinia (1921).
