Gonten railway station

Gonten District is a district of the canton of Appenzell Innerrhoden in Switzerland.

Appenzell was a canton in the northeast of Switzerland, and entirely surrounded by the canton of St. Gallen, in existence from 1403 to 1597. Appenzell became independent of the Abbey of Saint Gall in 1403 and entered a league with the Old Swiss Confederacy in 1411, becoming a full member in 1513. It was divided into Appenzell Innerrhoden and Appenzell Ausserrhoden in 1597 (in a process called the Landteilung) as a result of the Swiss Reformation. The territory of Appenzell as a geographical entity is known as Appenzellerland while in political contexts, the two cantons (until 1999 half-cantons) are referred to as beide Appenzell ("both Appenzells").

The Hundwiler Höhi (1,306 m) is a mountain of the Appenzell Alps, located on the border between the Swiss cantons of Appenzell Ausserrhoden and Appenzell Innerrhoden. It is situated between Hundwil and Gonten. The summit is easily accessible from every side of the mountain and is a popular vantage point over the Säntis, the Alpstein massif and Lake Constance. A mountain hut is located near the top.

Jakobsbad railway station (German: Bahnhof Jakobsbad) is a railway station in the district of Gonten, in the Swiss canton of Appenzell Innerrhoden. It is located on the 1,000 mm (3 ft 3+3⁄8 in) metre gauge Gossau–Wasserauen line of Appenzell Railways. The valley station of the Jakobsbad–Kronberg cable car to the Kronberg is adjacent.

Gontenbad railway station (German: Bahnhof Gontenbad) is a railway station in the district of Gonten, in the Swiss canton of Appenzell Innerrhoden. It is located on the 1,000 mm (3 ft 3+3⁄8 in) metre gauge Gossau–Wasserauen line of Appenzell Railways.

Stein is a municipality in the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden in Switzerland.

The Kronberg is a mountain of the Appenzell Alps, located west of Appenzell in the Swiss canton of Appenzell Innerrhoden. Its 1,663-metre-high (5,456 ft) summit can be accessed by cable car. The Kronberg is an easily ascendable mountain and a popular excursion destination, and can also be hiked well on signposted snowshoe tours in winter. Valley station operates since June 28, 1999

Schlatt-Haslen District is a district of the canton of Appenzell Innerrhoden in Switzerland. It was formally established in 1872 from the rhode Schlatt and the village Haslen.

Hundwil is a municipality in the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden in Switzerland.

The north of canton of Graubünden (with the city of Chur) is usually considered to be part of Eastern Switzerland as well.Eastern Switzerland is also defined as one of the NUTS-2 regions of Switzerland. In this case, it includes the cantons of Appenzell Ausserrhoden, Appenzell Innerrhoden, Glarus, Graubünden, Schaffhausen, St. Gallen, and Thurgau.
