Stein, Appenzell

Schlatt-Haslen District is a district of the canton of Appenzell Innerrhoden in Switzerland. It was formally established in 1872 from the rhode Schlatt and the village Haslen.

Appenzell was a canton in the northeast of Switzerland, and entirely surrounded by the canton of St. Gallen, in existence from 1403 to 1597. Appenzell became independent of the Abbey of Saint Gall in 1403 and entered a league with the Old Swiss Confederacy in 1411, becoming a full member in 1513. It was divided into Appenzell Innerrhoden and Appenzell Ausserrhoden in 1597 (in a process called the Landteilung) as a result of the Swiss Reformation. The territory of Appenzell as a geographical entity is known as Appenzellerland while in political contexts, the two cantons (until 1999 half-cantons) are referred to as beide Appenzell ("both Appenzells").

Wonnenstein Friary or Mary's Rose Garden Wonnenstein is a monastery of Sisters of the Third Order of Saint Francis in Teufen in the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden in Switzerland. While it is located in Appenzell Ausserrhoden, the buildings and grounds are a small exclave of the canton of Appenzell Innerrhoden.

The Hundwiler Höhi (1,306 m) is a mountain of the Appenzell Alps, located on the border between the Swiss cantons of Appenzell Ausserrhoden and Appenzell Innerrhoden. It is situated between Hundwil and Gonten. The summit is easily accessible from every side of the mountain and is a popular vantage point over the Säntis, the Alpstein massif and Lake Constance. A mountain hut is located near the top.

It is located on the 1,000 mm (3 ft 3+3⁄8 in) metre gauge Appenzell–St. Gallen–Trogen line of Appenzell Railways, and is served by local trains only.

Gübsensee is a reservoir near the city of St. Gallen, Switzerland. Its dams were built between 1898 and 1900, the first hydroelectric reservoir in Switzerland. Kraftwerk Kubel has generated electrical power there since 1900. Gübsensee Ost is a gravity dam with a height of 24 m, Gübsensee West an earthfill dam. The lake's surface area is 0.17 km2 (0.066 sq mi). Its volume is 1.5 mio m³. The Gübsensee and the surrounding area is today protected as a nature reserve
