Kunsthalle Emden

Emden (German pronunciation: [ˈɛmdn̩] ) is an independent city and seaport in Lower Saxony in the northwest of Germany, on the river Ems. It is the main city of the region of East Frisia and, in 2011, had a total population of 51,528.

Emden Hauptbahnhof is the main station in Emden in the German state of Lower Saxony. It is the terminus of the Emsland Railway, connecting Emden with Münster and the Ruhr and the starting point of the East Frisian coastal railway from Emden to Norden and Norddeich, both of which are electrified. It is also connected to the city’s second busiest station of Emden Außenhafen (outer harbour) by a line that has been electrified since 2006.

Ostfriesland-Stadion is a multi-use stadium in Emden, Germany. It is used exclusively for football matches and has been the home stadium of Kickers Emden since 1950.

Wolthusen is a former village in Lower Saxony, Germany and borough (Stadtteil) of Emden. It was incorporated into the city in 1928. The village character can still be found around the old village church from 1784. The church, located on a yard, was built on the location where a predecessor had already been built in the fifteenth century. The name of the village refers to its location in low, swampy meadows (wold), composed of -husen, i.e. 'houses'.

The Port of Emden is the seaport of the German city of Emden at the mouth of the Ems to the North Sea. It is the westernmost seaport on the coast of Germany; in 2011, it reached an annual turnover of about 6.29 million tons. The operator of the Port of Emden is Niedersachsen Ports.In addition, Emden is an important ferry port to the North Sea island Borkum. The port is connected to the railway network with the Emden Außenhafen station via Emden main station. Large industry and shipbuilding companies are located at Emden harbor, among them Volkswagen, Nordseewerke, ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems, Cassens and many others.

The Emden Außenhafen station (Emden outer harbor) is a harbor station of the East Frisian city of Emden in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is a terminus for InterCity and regional trains.

OLT Express Germany (formerly OLT Ostfriesische Lufttransport GmbH or OLT) was an airline based in Bremen in Germany. The company moved to Bremen from Emden in February 2012. It operated regional scheduled and charter flights linking northern Germany to other parts of the country and Bremen to other European destinations. Its main base was Bremen Airport.

Borssum or Borßum is a village in Lower Saxony, Germany. Together with the village of Hilmarsum it forms a district (Stadtteil) of Emden. The East Frisian village on the Eems is located southeast of the city. The history of Borssum dates back to the seventh century. It originated from two centres, Groß-Borssum and Klein-Borssum, both of which had a borg. Today, the Westerburg School and the Osterburg School are located on the location of both buildings.The historic village with a church from the thirteenth century, has grown into one of the larger districts of Emden, especially after the Second World War.

Suurhusen is a village north of Emden in the German region of East Frisia. It has about 1,100 inhabitants and is administered by the municipality of Hinte. The steeple of the Suurhusen church, inclined at an angle of 5.19 degrees, is the most leaning tower of the world, beating the Leaning Tower of Pisa by 1.22 degrees.The settlement was first mentioned in documents from 1255 and in former times was also called Zuiderhusen ("Southern Husen"), most likely due to close proximity of Osterhusen and Westerhusen. However, a stone with the year 1004 and ceramic objects found in the old church tower point to the fact that the village is much older. In the village centre is a small museum in which the life of an agricultural worker's family is illustrated.

Westerhusen is a village in the region of East Frisia, in Lower Saxony, Germany. Administratively, it is an Ortsteil of the municipality of Hinte, of which it is located to the southwest. Westerhusen is about 5 kilometers to the north of Emden. The Church of Westerhusen from the 15th century is located in the middle of the warft on which the village is built. The church had a Romanesque predecessor from the 13th century. The church organ in this building dates from 1643.

Larrelt is a former village in Lower Saxony, Germany. The centuries-old East Frisian village originally belonged to the former Landkreis Norden, but was added to the city of Emden as a district (Stadtteil) immediately after the Second World War. It currently lies directly to the north of the Emden industrial estate. The oldest mention of Larrelt, as Hlarfliata, dates from the 10th century. The former village has a church which dates from the 15th century.

Hinte is a village and a municipality in the district of Aurich, in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is situated approximately 20 km south of Norden, and 6 km north of Emden.
