Whakarongo Railway Station

Whakarongo is a suburb of Palmerston North, New Zealand, between the city and Ashhurst. It is mainly rural, and features many vegetable gardens. Whakarongo was originally named Stoney Creek and along with neighbouring Kelvin Grove was part of the Stoney Creek Scandinavian and Roadmen's Block. The area was one of the first Special Settlements established by the Government (along with Karere Scandinavian Block, between Awapuni and Longburn).The original Scandinavian settlers were the first to arrive under Vogel's Immigration and Public Works Scheme. The majority arrived on the second ship (England) which arrived in April 1871, with a handful from the first ship (Celaeno) which arrived in February 1871. The Roadmen were mainly the British 'workmates' of the Scandinavian settlers.Kelvin Grove Cemetery was established in Whakarongo in 1927.There are no parks in the area.State Highway 3 passes through Whakarongo on Napier Road. Stoney Creek Road, named after the original settlement, connects the area with Bunnythorpe.

Cornerstone Christian School is an integrated co-educational Area School (combined Primary and Secondary) for Years 1–13 in the city of Palmerston North, New Zealand. The school is divided by an administrative block between the junior and senior areas, after the senior area the newly installed intermediate block is situated.

Terrace End Cemetery is the oldest cemetery in Palmerston North, New Zealand. Almost 10,000 people have been buried in the cemetery since Rangitāne gifted the land to the fledgling Palmerston North settlement in 1875.Plots are now closed, but the descendants of those buried at the cemetery can be buried with their relatives. The cemetery was replaced by Kelvin Grove Cemetery in 1927.

Kelvin Grove is a suburb of Palmerston North on New Zealand's North Island. It is bounded on the north by the North Island Main Trunk railway, Manawatū District and Milson, on the west by Palmerston North–Gisborne Line and Roslyn, the south by the Manawatū River, and the east by James Line and Whakarongo. It was identified as one of New Zealand's fastest growth suburbs in November 2016.The lower North Island distribution centres of Foodstuffs, Coca-Cola Amatil and Woolworths New Zealand are located in Kelvin Grove. The national customer centre of Toyota New Zealand and the Radius Peppertree rest home and hospital is also located on Roberts Line.Many Kelvin Grove street name are named after New Zealand places, such as Kaimanawa, Anakiwa, Karamea, Mahia and Wairau. Local parks include Kaimanawa Park, Celaeno Park, Kelvin Grove Park, Linklater Block, Schnell Reserve, Schnell Esplanade Reserve, Robêrt Reserve, Frederick Krull Reserve, Dahlstrom Reserve, James Line Reserve and Parnell Reserve.

Aokautere is a suburb of the New Zealand city of Palmerston North. It is situated in the cliffs on the south banks of the Manawatu River. Aokautere is named after Te Aokautere, a great Rangitāne chief during the late 18th century. In the 19th century, it was known as Fitzherbert, after the politician William Fitzherbert who promoted settlement of the Manawatu. The Fitzherbert East Dairy Factory building still carries the name these days.Aokautere has views of the Ruahine and Tararua Ranges (with the Wind Turbine Farms) and on a clear day it is possible to see Ruapehu. Anzac Park (Te Motu-o-Poutoa), a clifftop reserve colloquially known as Pork Chop Hill, has views across the city, through to the southern Ruahine and northern Tararua ranges. It is also possible to see distant Taranaki and Ruapehu. There is also access to the Stairway of Tāne (Te Arapiki-a-Tāne), steps cut into the former Anzac Cliffs, now collapsed into a slope. Prior to 1996, Aokautere was part of the Manawatu electorate. However, due to the reformation of the electoral system from FPP to MMP, the electorate of Palmerston North's boundaries were redrawn to include Aokautere. Palmerston North's electorate boundaries were redrawn in 2007 and Aokautere was shifted to the Rangitikei electorate. Rangitikei as of 2020 is represented by National MP Ian McKelvie, who was elected in 2011.

Terrace End is a suburb of Palmerston North, New Zealand. Terrace End is located in the south east part of the city on a bend in the Manawatu River. It is bounded to the north by Main Street East, Roslyn and Kelvin Grove. On the east by Whakarongo, the south by the Manawatu River and Hokowhitu and the west by Ruahine Street, Papaioea and Hokowhitu. The suburb is predominantly residential. In 2018, Terrace End had a resident population of 6,177.The area includes Palmerston North Golf Club, Brightwater Centre, Memorial Park, Balmoral Park and Ruamahanga Wilderness Reserve.

Memorial Park is a multi-use stadium in Palmerston North, New Zealand. It is currently used mostly for football matches and was the home stadium of YoungHeart Manawatu before they disbanded. The stadium has a capacity of 8,000 people. The stadium hosted the final of the 2011 Chatham Cup on 28 August 2011. Wairarapa United won the competition for the first time in their history, defeating Napier City Rovers 2–1. This is the first time that the final of New Zealand's premier knockout football competition has been held in Palmerston North. In 2015 Central Football board member Bruce McGhie proposed a plan to the Palmerston North City Council on making the ground an all-weather sports field. He stated that by 2019–20 Memorial Park would have a multi-purpose artificial sports field. The plan is set to cost $1.7 million.

Roslyn is a suburb in the city of Palmerston North, Manawatū-Whanganui, New Zealand. It is located 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) north-east of the central city and bounded on the north by the North Island Main Trunk Railway (Milson), on the east by Palmerston North-Gisborne Railway (Kelvin Grove), the south by Main Street East (Terrace End) and the west by Ruahine Street (Palmerston North Hospital Area). Roslyn is also located 2.1 km SE from Palmerston North International Airport. The suburb is predominantly residential and at the 2018 Census it had a population of 2,364.

Freyberg High School (Māori: Te Kura o Te Pou Hōia) is a state co-educational secondary school located in the suburb of Roslyn in Palmerston North, New Zealand. Freyberg High School is named for hero of both world wars, Lord Bernard Freyberg, who is known for his service in the Gallipoli Campaign during the First World War and later service commanding the New Zealand Expeditionary Force during the Second World War. Freyberg served as the 7th Governor-General of New Zealand from 1946 to 1952. Opening in 1955 as the city's fourth state secondary school, Freyberg High School is now one of the largest schools in Palmerston North, with a roll of 1113 students as of April 2023, behind Palmerston North Boys' High School and Palmerston North Girls' High School. The school is located at the end of Freyberg Street, Palmerston North and is bordered by Skoglund Park on the east and Ross Intermediate School on the west. To the north are the netball courts of Vautier Park. Also present is the Freyberg Community Pool, which is open to the public for leisure.

Ross Intermediate is a state co-educational intermediate school located in the Palmerston North, New Zealand suburb of Roslyn. It is the first school in New Zealand to have its own television station and laptop programme. The school television station has since been discontinued. Opening in 1958, Ross Intermediate has a school roll of 496 students as of April 2023. Students are placed in a composite class on the first day of Year 7. Students usually stay with the same teacher for two years after attending the school. As of 2015, class sizes are no more than 24 students. However, the school tries to keep numbers at 23 students per class.

Hokowhitu is a riverside suburb of the New Zealand city of Palmerston North, with some of the highest property values in the city. The Palmerston North Teachers' College was built in Hokowhitu in the 1960s. Massey University took over the college in 2009. The New Zealand Defence Force began using some of the buildings in 2011.Massey relocated the college to Turitea campus in 2013 and sold the land in 2016. When the site was sold, the land consisted of 20 buildings; including halls, offices, a library, a marae and sporting facilities. The site began to be redeveloped into housing in 2018.The Hokowhitu Lagoon, Caccia Birch House, Jickell Street Reserve and Manawatu Golf Course are located next to the former education campus. Wallace Park, the home of the Ruahine Association Football Club and local cricket teams, is located nearby. Other local features include the Hokowhitu Domain, Crewe Crescent Reserve, Franklin Reserve, Fitzroy Bend Park, Milverton Park and playground, Awatea Reserve and stream, Hardie St Park and Centennial Drive Reserve.Hokowhitu is part of the Palmerston North and Te Tai Hauāuru electorates. Until 2013, it had its own ward councilors on the Palmerston North City Council.

Bunnythorpe is a village in the Manawatū-Whanganui region of New Zealand's North Island, 10 km (6 mi) north of the region's major city, Palmerston North. Dairy farms predominate the surrounding area but the community facilities include Bunnythorpe School, with a roll of about 80 pupils as of 2010 as well as a Rugby Football Club, Country Club and several manufacturing plants. The population was 687 in the 2018 census.
