Freyberg High School (Māori: Te Kura o Te Pou Hōia) is a state co-educational secondary school located in the suburb of Roslyn in Palmerston North, New Zealand. Freyberg High School is named for hero of both world wars, Lord Bernard Freyberg, who is known for his service in the Gallipoli Campaign during the First World War and later service commanding the New Zealand Expeditionary Force during the Second World War. Freyberg served as the 7th Governor-General of New Zealand from 1946 to 1952. Opening in 1955 as the city's fourth state secondary school, Freyberg High School is now one of the largest schools in Palmerston North, with a roll of 1113 students as of April 2023, behind Palmerston North Boys' High School and Palmerston North Girls' High School. The school is located at the end of Freyberg Street, Palmerston North and is bordered by Skoglund Park on the east and Ross Intermediate School on the west. To the north are the netball courts of Vautier Park. Also present is the Freyberg Community Pool, which is open to the public for leisure.

Ross Intermediate is a state co-educational intermediate school located in the Palmerston North, New Zealand suburb of Roslyn. It is the first school in New Zealand to have its own television station and laptop programme. The school television station has since been discontinued. Opening in 1958, Ross Intermediate has a school roll of 496 students as of April 2023. Students are placed in a composite class on the first day of Year 7. Students usually stay with the same teacher for two years after attending the school. As of 2015, class sizes are no more than 24 students. However, the school tries to keep numbers at 23 students per class.

Kelvin Grove is a suburb of Palmerston North on New Zealand's North Island. It is bounded on the north by the North Island Main Trunk railway, Manawatū District and Milson, on the west by Palmerston North–Gisborne Line and Roslyn, the south by the Manawatū River, and the east by James Line and Whakarongo. It was identified as one of New Zealand's fastest growth suburbs in November 2016.The lower North Island distribution centres of Foodstuffs, Coca-Cola Amatil and Woolworths New Zealand are located in Kelvin Grove. The national customer centre of Toyota New Zealand and the Radius Peppertree rest home and hospital is also located on Roberts Line.Many Kelvin Grove street name are named after New Zealand places, such as Kaimanawa, Anakiwa, Karamea, Mahia and Wairau. Local parks include Kaimanawa Park, Celaeno Park, Kelvin Grove Park, Linklater Block, Schnell Reserve, Schnell Esplanade Reserve, Robêrt Reserve, Frederick Krull Reserve, Dahlstrom Reserve, James Line Reserve and Parnell Reserve.

Palmerston North Hospital is the main public hospital in Palmerston North, New Zealand. The hospital is located at the northern end of Ruahine Street, 2 km (1.2 mi) northeast of The Square. It is the main hospital run by the MidCentral District Health Board, which primarily serves Palmerston North and the surrounding Manawatū, Tararua and Horowhenua districts. The hospital has 354 inpatient beds as of 2020. The hospital is a major trauma centre, one of four in the lower North Island alongside Hawke's Bay Hospital, Whanganui Hospital and Wellington Regional Hospital.

Memorial Park is a multi-use stadium in Palmerston North, New Zealand. It is currently used mostly for football matches and was the home stadium of YoungHeart Manawatu before they disbanded. The stadium has a capacity of 8,000 people. The stadium hosted the final of the 2011 Chatham Cup on 28 August 2011. Wairarapa United won the competition for the first time in their history, defeating Napier City Rovers 2–1. This is the first time that the final of New Zealand's premier knockout football competition has been held in Palmerston North. In 2015 Central Football board member Bruce McGhie proposed a plan to the Palmerston North City Council on making the ground an all-weather sports field. He stated that by 2019–20 Memorial Park would have a multi-purpose artificial sports field. The plan is set to cost $1.7 million.

Milson is a suburb of Palmerston North, Manawatū-Whanganui, New Zealand. The suburb is located to the north of the city, beyond the North Island Main Trunk Rail. Milson is mostly a residential suburb with a population of 6,246 (2018). Milson is divided into a residential zone in the west and central and an industrial zone in the east. Palmerston North Airport and Palmerston North railway station are in Milson. Milson was part of the Papaioea Ward of Palmerston North City Council until 2013. It was part of the Manawatu electorate until 1996, when it became part of the Rangitikei electorate. Many other local streets and parks have a space or US presidential theme. For example, Apollo Park has a spaced-themed playground and a butterfly park. Other parks include Colquhoun Park, John F Kennedy Park, Clearview Park, Kennedy Park, Paradise Park, Pinedale Reserve, Langley Reserve, Clearview Reserve, Jefferson Reserve and Mangaone Stream Esplanade Reserve.

Terrace End Cemetery is the oldest cemetery in Palmerston North, New Zealand. Almost 10,000 people have been buried in the cemetery since Rangitāne gifted the land to the fledgling Palmerston North settlement in 1875.Plots are now closed, but the descendants of those buried at the cemetery can be buried with their relatives. The cemetery was replaced by Kelvin Grove Cemetery in 1927.

Papaioea is a suburb of Palmerston North on New Zealand's North Island. Its name comes from the name of the original settlement in a clearing in forest which was purchased from local Māori (Ngāti Rangitāne) in 1864. The name was used to describe Palmerston North also. Somewhat later, the name had become forgotten with the transliteration of Pamutana being preferred (especially by the Native Land Court).The name Papaioea did not resurface until the 1920s, and is sometimes used to refer to Palmerston North as a whole. Papaioea has many shops, food outlets and supermarkets, including Terrace End Shopping Centre (Broadtop) on Broadway Avenue. There are real estate agencies, a veterinarian clinic, medical clinics and several churches, including Broadway Methodist Church. Aorangi Hospital, formerly known as Mercy Hospital, was a private hospital in the northwest of the suburb. It has since been demolished, with services moved to Crest Hospital in nearby Carroll Street. The site is now occupied by Broadway Radiology who occupy a new, modern building. Horizons Regional Council office is also located in Papaioea. Papaioea Park is located in the north of the suburb. It is used as a football ground and cricket ground by lower club grades, and is walled on the Featherston Street and Ruahine Street boundary.Palmerston North Borough Council decided to reserve land for the park in the 1920s They chose the name Papaioea to commemorate the original settlement in the area. There was a spelling mistake and the name was spelt "Papaeoia". This was not corrected until the 1970s.The first stage of a new social housing development opened in the area in 2019. Palmerston North City Council applied for Government funding for a second stage of the project during the coronavirus pandemic in 2020.The Palmerston North Hospital area is identified as a separate area by Statistics New Zealand. On the southern side of Tremaine Avenue is a predominantly suburban area, with tree lined streets and avenues. The north side of Tremaine Avenue is dominated by commercial and industrial businesses. Features in the area include Arohanui Hospice, the Northern Bowling Club, Rimu Lodge Rest Home, Willard Rest Home, and Wahikoa Park.

Terrace End is a suburb of Palmerston North, New Zealand. Terrace End is located in the south east part of the city on a bend in the Manawatu River. It is bounded to the north by Main Street East, Roslyn and Kelvin Grove. On the east by Whakarongo, the south by the Manawatu River and Hokowhitu and the west by Ruahine Street, Papaioea and Hokowhitu. The suburb is predominantly residential. In 2018, Terrace End had a resident population of 6,177.The area includes Palmerston North Golf Club, Brightwater Centre, Memorial Park, Balmoral Park and Ruamahanga Wilderness Reserve.

Carncot Independent School is a coeducational independent day school serving Years 1 to 8. It is located close to the center of the city of Palmerston North, in the Manawatū District. New Zealand Europeans make up 70% of the roll, with Māori, Pacific Island, European, South African, Middle, and Far Eastern families represented. The school accepts international students.

The Cathedral of the Holy Spirit is the cathedral of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Palmerston North, New Zealand. It opened in 1925 as St Patrick's Church and was rededicated to the Holy Spirit as the cathedral when the diocese was established in 1980. In 1988, the cathedral was renovated, expanded and reordered. The building was designed by the notable architect Frederick de Jersey Clere. The building was designated a Category 1 historic place by the New Zealand Historic Places Trust in 1990. The Gothic Revival style cathedral is constructed in reinforced concrete with ornamental Gothic elements such as lancet windows, a pointed arch and pinnacles, and its design includes most typical elements of a cathedral layout. The nave is flanked by seven structural columns on each side which support pointed arches. The two side aisles feature 10 stained glass windows depicting the 10 parables of Jesus, designed by Franz Xaver Zettler from Munich. The cathedral also houses 25 Māori carvings from the six iwi in the diocese.
