St Thomas's Church is a Church of England parish church in central Salisbury, Wiltshire, England. The church was founded in the early 13th century and rebuilt in the 15th century at the expense of the city's prosperous merchants. Above the chancel arch is a large doom painting from the late 15th century or early 16th. The building is Grade I listed.

The Corn Exchange, formerly the Market Hall, is a commercial building in the Market Place, Salisbury, Wiltshire, England. The structure, which accommodates a small shopping mall, a public library and an art gallery, is a Grade II listed building.

The Young Gallery is an art gallery in Salisbury, Wiltshire, England. The gallery's collections include those from Edgar Barclay, John Creasey, Mick Maslen, Robin Tanner, and Edwin Young. It also has temporary exhibitions. The gallery is a free art museum in central Salisbury. It is housed on the first floor of Salisbury Library and holds a collection of over 4,000 objects, including books, paintings, prints, photographs, and sculptures. The collection started with over 300 watercolour paintings of scenes of Salisbury and the surrounding area by Edwin Young, after whom the gallery is named. The gallery has since acquired watercolours by artists of various periods. In addition, the gallery has around 2,000 books in more than 20 languages, as well as book jacket designs, manuscripts, and ephemera related to the crime/thriller novelist John Creasey in the 1970s. The collection has expanded to include a collection of artwork and prints. It contains original works by Edgar Barclay, William Goldsmith, Robin Tanner, as well as prints by the English artists John Constable, David Hockney, Henry Moore, and J. M. W. Turner. In 2024, the former Edwin Young Collection and the John Creasey Museum were merged to allow the Young Gallery to renew its accreditation with Arts Council England.

Salisbury Black Friary was a friary in Wiltshire, England, in existence from 1281 to 1538. In 1281, Edward I granted land to the Dominican friars which allowed them to move from the house they had established at Wilton in 1245. The site was at grid reference SU 1416 3004 on the north-west edge of the city, on what is now Fisherton Street, just beyond the bridge over the Avon. The friary received royal support for a time, and was granted building materials from Clarendon Park. The establishment was dissolved in 1538, when the prior and 13 friars surrendered their house to the king's visitor. The property was sold in 1545 and today no visible trace of the buildings remains. In 1978, after redevelopment of the Maltings area uncovered human remains, archaeologists found four burials and some wall foundations. Further test pits in 2019 found four more graves but no traces of buildings, therefore the position of the friary within the site remains unknown.

The Poultry Cross is a market cross in Salisbury, Wiltshire, England, marking the site of former markets. Constructed in the 14th century and modified in the 18th century, it stands at the junction of Silver Street and Minster Street. It has been designated by English Heritage as a Grade I listed structure.The Poultry Cross is the only one remaining of four market crosses that once stood in Salisbury. The others were the Cheese Cross in the present Cheesemarket area, Barnard's Cross (livestock) at the junction of Barnard Street and Culver Street and another which designated a market for wool and yarn at the east end of the present Market Place, near the War Memorial.The presence of a market cross on the site dates to 1307, and the name to about a century later. The present stone structure was built in the 14th century. The original flying buttresses were removed in 1711, as can be seen in the painting of 1800 by J. M. W. Turner; the present buttresses date from 1852–1854, when the upper parts of the cross were rebuilt to the designs of the architect Owen Browne Carter.The present-day site, around the structure, is used as part of Salisbury Market on Tuesdays and Saturdays. However, the structure itself is no longer in use.

Salisbury was a local government district in Wiltshire, England from 1974 to 2009. Its main urban area was the city of Salisbury. The district was formed on 1 April 1974 under the Local Government Act 1972 and the English Non-metropolitan Districts (Definition) Order 1972, as a merger of the previous municipal boroughs of Salisbury and Wilton, along with Amesbury Rural District, Mere and Tisbury Rural District and Salisbury and Wilton Rural District.On 1 April 2009, the district was abolished as part of the structural changes to local government in England, when its functions were taken over by the new Wiltshire Council unitary authority. At the same time, a parish council for Salisbury and its suburbs was formed, called Salisbury City Council.

The Avon Valley Path is a long-distance path, opened in 1992, which runs for 34 miles (55 kilometres) through the English counties of Wiltshire, Hampshire and Dorset.The path takes its name from the River Avon. From Salisbury it passes through the towns of Fordingbridge and Ringwood as well as the villages of Odstock, Nunton, Charlton-All-Saints, Downton, Hale, Woodgreen, Turmer, Ibsley, Kingston, Sopley and Burton. It ends near the coast at Christchurch Priory, Dorset.The path is waymarked with green arrows featuring a bridge, and shown as a series of coloured diamonds on Ordnance Survey 1:25,000 and 1:50,000 maps. It can be walked in either direction. The path crosses the Clarendon Way and Castleman Trailway, and passes through the western edge of the New Forest. Parts of the route can become waterlogged, particularly from December to May.

Salisbury Playhouse is a theatre in the English city of Salisbury, Wiltshire. Built in 1976, it comprises the 517-seat Main House and the 149-seat Salberg Studio, a rehearsal room, a daytime café, and a community and education space. It is part of Arts Council England's National Portfolio of Organisations, and also receives regular funding from Wiltshire Council and Salisbury City Council.

Old Sarum Way is a 32-mile (51 km) long-distance footpath in Wiltshire, England that forms a circle around the city of Salisbury. The route uses public roads, public rights of way and some newly created permitted paths. Some sections of the footpath are waymarked by a metal plate attached to wooden posts which show a picture of the cathedral spire. This is the best guess of the route (clockwise) based on surviving waymarks: SU074337 Head down the hill on the footpath, under the railway line then across the river into South Newton. SU088344 Climb the hill, passing the communication tower and crossing the A360. SU124353 Join the Monarch's Way. SU167337 Turn south. SU162329 Turn east into Old Malthouse Lane. The most likely route is that the path crosses the A30 between Wilton and Burcombe, then heads north into Grovely Wood.

The College of Matrons (or Matrons' College) is a residential building and charity within the Salisbury Cathedral Close, Wiltshire, England. It was constructed in 1682 by Seth Ward, bishop of Salisbury, as an almshouse for ten widows of clergy ordained within the diocese of Salisbury. It is on the extension of Salisbury High Street that enters the cathedral close through the North Gate. The building was listed at Grade I in 1952.

Mompesson House is an 18th-century house in the Cathedral Close, Salisbury, Wiltshire, England. The house is Grade I listed and has been in the ownership of the National Trust since 1975.

Hemingsby House is a Grade I listed, 14th-century house in Salisbury, England, in the north-west corner of Salisbury Cathedral Close, overlooking Choristers' Green. Although constructed as one house, it has two parts in different architectural styles, giving the impression of two separate buildings. In modern times it has been altered to provide two separate houses. It is generally believed to have been built in the 14th century by Alexander de Hemyngsby, the first recorded warden of the Choristers' School in 1322. Apart from the chapel, most of the building was reconstructed in the middle of the 15th century by Nicholas Upton. He was succeeded by Thomas Fideon who completed the reconstruction and whose name appears on some architectural decorations in the house.Edward Powell lived at Hemyngsby in 1525. He served as counsel to Queen Catherine of Aragon at the hearing of Henry VIII's divorce suit against her. Powell met with much disapproval from Henry, and after Catherine's death he was tried for treason in London and hanged, drawn and quartered at Smithfield.In 1547–1550 the house was occupied by the Reverend Simon Symonds who may have been the vicar of Bray in the traditional folksong.The south part of the house, No 56B, was partly rebuilt in 1727 by Canon Joseph Sayer to replace a decaying previous extension. It has a prominent parapet with panels, even stone quoins on the front and an arched door surrounded by rusticated quoins with a semi-circular fanlight above it. There are four sash windows with stone keystones and four windows to the semi-basement. Stone steps lead up to the front door. The roof is hipped front to back and medieval stone has been used to construct the rear façade.No 56A has a pitched, tiled roof with two dormers, a brick, rubble stone and flint dressed façade with four windows. The north wall contains many tiles laid in herring-bone pattern. The porch has a gable decorated with carved stone shields and a round arch over the door. In 1840 the number of residentiary canons at the cathedral was reduced from six to four, and Hemingsby ceased to be a canonry in 1848 on the death of the then resident, the Reverend Matthew Marsh.The house was designated as Grade I listed in 1952.
