The Gothenburg, Fallin

Fallin () is a village in the Stirling council area of Scotland. It lies on the A905 road 3 miles east of Stirling on a bend in the River Forth. The United Kingdom Census 2001 recorded the population as 2,710.It was formerly a pit village, the site of the Polmaise Colliery 3&4 (Polmaise Colliery 1&2 was situated at Milhall), originally opened in 1904 by Archibald Russell Ltd. At its peak, in 1957, it employed 778 people. During the UK miners' strike 1984-85 it was reputed to be the only colliery in Britain where support was so strong that there was no need for pickets during the whole of the strike. British Coal decided to close the Colliery on 17 July 1987, marking the end of coal mining in Central Region. The village is home to The Goth, a community-run pub and one of the few remaining pubs in Scotland still run under the Gothenburg system.Fallin has been the site of several new housing developments. In 2022 Christmas lights will be erected for the first time - this is being created by the Fallin Community Voice and the PCC -through funding by residents of the village. In 2024 a new community garden project will start in an area of the old Miners site close to the bing - which will link to route 76 bicycle route - along with links back to Stirling

Throsk (In Scottish Gaelic: Badan Deathach, meaning the thicket among the mist) is a village in the Stirling council area of Scotland. It lies on the A905 road east of Fallin close to the River Forth. The United Kingdom Census 2001 recorded the population as 231.Throsk was formerly the site of the Royal Navy's Bandeath armaments depot. This closed in 1978 and now serves as an industrial estate owned by the local council. Many of the original munitions storage bunkers remain in situ as does a loading crane beside the River Forth.There was a rail bridge between Throsk and Alloa sometime called the Alloa Swing Bridge of which some video footage survives.

Cowie (Scottish Gaelic: Collaidh, meaning wooded place) is a village in the Stirling council area of Scotland. Historically part of Stirlingshire, it lies on the minor B9124 road approximately 4 miles (6 kilometres) southeast of Stirling and about 1 mile (1.5 kilometres) north of the A9 road. The United Kingdom Census 2011 recorded the population as 2,713.Excavations have identified Mesolithic and Neolithic settlement remains at Chapelfield.Cowie was formerly a pit village and stone quarrying was carried on in the surrounds. It is now the site of a factory manufacturing engineered wood products and other light industries.Recent years have seen significant new housing developments in the village for commuters.

The River Devon (formerly Dovan, Scottish Gaelic: Duibhe) is a tributary of the River Forth in Clackmannanshire and Perth & Kinross, Scotland.

The Bannock Burn (Scottish Gaelic: Allt a' Bhonnaich) is a stream (burn is Scots for stream) which rises at about 1,300 feet (400 m) on Touchadam Moor, NS715891, just to the north of Earl's Hill in the Touch Hills to the south-west of Stirling in central Scotland. The Bannock flows eastward and enters the River Forth to the east of Stirling, close to the site of the Battle of Bannockburn (1314), about 7.58 miles (12.20 km) from its source. The burn itself meanders and is considerably longer. A nearby town, nowadays a suburb of Stirling, is accordingly called Bannockburn. The Battle of Sauchieburn (1488) was also fought close to the Bannock Burn.

It is located to the south of Tullibody, to the northwest of Alloa, and about 4 miles east of Stirling, across the river. It lies on the River Devon, near its confluence with the River Forth.
