The Hood River Bridge is a truss bridge with a vertical lift that spans the Columbia River between Hood River, Oregon and White Salmon, Washington. It connects Interstate 84/U.S. Route 30 on the Oregon side with Washington State Route 14. The bridge is currently the second oldest road bridge across the Columbia between Washington and Oregon. It was built by the Oregon-Washington Bridge Company and opened on December 9, 1924. The original name was the Waucoma Interstate Bridge. Construction of the Bonneville Dam 23 miles (37 km) downstream forced the bridge to be altered in 1938 to accommodate the resulting elevated river levels. On December 12, 1950, the Port of Hood River purchased the bridge from the Oregon-Washington Bridge Co. for $800,000. The bridge is operated as a toll bridge by the Port of Hood River. Currently the tolls are set to $2.00 for a passenger car, with $1.00 for each additional axle, and $1.00 for motorcycles. Bicycles and pedestrians are prohibited from crossing the bridge. 20 piers are used to support the total length of 4,418 ft (1347 m). When closed the vertical waterway clearance is 67 ft (20m). This increases to 148 ft (45 m) when the bridge is open at a river level of 75', which typically happens once or twice a month. The horizontal waterway clearance of the lift span is 246 ft (75 m). The bridge has weight restrictions: Total Gross Weight Limit: 80,000 lbs, each single axle: 20,000 lbs, tandem axles: 34,000 lbs. Vehicles higher than 14′ 7″ are restricted to travel on the bridge. It is located at river mile 169, between Bridge of the Gods at RM 148 and The Dalles Bridge at RM 191.

The Hood River, formerly known as Dog River, is a tributary of the Columbia River in northwestern Oregon, United States. Approximately 25 miles (40 km) long from its mouth to its farthest headwaters on the East Fork, the river descends from wilderness areas in the Cascade Range on Mount Hood and flows through the agricultural Hood River Valley to join the Columbia River in the Columbia River Gorge. It rises in three separate forks on the north side of Mount Hood, within the Mount Hood Wilderness in Hood River County which is approximately 50 miles (80 km) east of Portland.

White Salmon is a city in Klickitat County, Washington, United States. It is located in the Columbia River Gorge. The population was 2,193 at the 2000 census and increased 1.4% to 2,224 at the 2010 census.

The Hood River station is a historic train station in Hood River, Oregon, currently serving the heritage Mount Hood Railroad. The station was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988 as the Oregon–Washington Railroad and Navigation Company Passenger Station. The station was built by the Oregon–Washington Railroad and Navigation Company, a subsidiary of the Union Pacific Railroad, in 1911. Amtrak's Pioneer also used the station and nearby area from 1977–1997.

The Mount Hood Hotel Annex is a historic hotel building in Hood River, Oregon, United States. The brick building occupies a 100 by 100 feet (30 m × 30 m) lot at the northwest corner of Oak and First Streets in Hood River. It was completed in 1912 as an expansion of the Mt. Hood Hotel on the next lot. The original hotel was built in 1881. The original hotel was expanded after 1886, to three stories. It had a mansard observation tower and an encircling double veranda. The original building fronted on first street and the Oregon-Washington Railroad and Navigation Company passenger station and the Columbia River just north. As travel moved to automobile travel, the premier hotel to the north, took a back seat to the annex. The original building was closed after 1926 and then removed circa 1930.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1994.

The Roe–Parker House is a historic house in Hood River, Oregon, United States.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988. It was relocated from its original site adjacent to the Hood River Library in 2002, to make way for expansion of the library building. It was removed from the National Register in 2018.

The First National Bank of Hood River is a historic bank building located in downtown Hood River, Oregon, United States. The bank building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2006.

The International Museum of Carousel Art was a museum in Hood River in the U.S. state of Oregon focused on carousels. The museum claimed to be the largest such collection in the world. It had 8,000 to 10,000 visitors per year.The museum was founded in 1983 as the Portland Carousel Museum after the founders, Duane and Carol Perron, helped restore a 1914 carousel in the late 1970s. It was a non profit organization. The Hood River museum opened October 17, 1999 and attracted about three thousand visitors in its first year.The collection contained about 110 carved animals, an operational Wurlitzer band organ, chariots, and other artifacts. The exhibits featured European animals, major American carvers, armored horses, and the restoration process. The museum closed in late 2010, initially with the intent of relocating, but the closure was later made permanent.

Butler Bank is a historic bank building in downtown Hood River, Oregon, United States, built during Hood River's second major phase of urban development. It was designed by Portland-based A. E. Doyle (1877–1928), one of the Pacific Northwest's most celebrated architects of the early 20th century, during the later years of his career. It is one of only two commercial buildings he designed in the Columbia River Gorge region, and his only Egyptian Revival-style commission in Oregon. It was erected in 1924 for Butler Banking Company, which was led by Leslie Butler (1847–1944). Butler and his son Truman opened the Butler and Company Bank in 1900 as Hood River's first bank and incorporated it as the Butler Banking Company in 1905. Despite early commercial success, after the Great Depression it failed in 1932. The Butlers were regarded as blameless in the failure and continued as respected businessmen. In addition to his prominent role in business during the early years of Hood River's development, Leslie Butler was very active in voluntary and philanthropic activities throughout Oregon, especially in the area of public health.The bank building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000.
