The Hood River, formerly known as Dog River, is a tributary of the Columbia River in northwestern Oregon, United States. Approximately 25 miles (40 km) long from its mouth to its farthest headwaters on the East Fork, the river descends from wilderness areas in the Cascade Range on Mount Hood and flows through the agricultural Hood River Valley to join the Columbia River in the Columbia River Gorge. It rises in three separate forks on the north side of Mount Hood, within the Mount Hood Wilderness in Hood River County which is approximately 50 miles (80 km) east of Portland.

Founded in 1987, Full Sail was the first commercially successful craft brewery to bottle beer in the Pacific Northwest for retail sale, and one of Oregon's early microbreweries. The first beer packaged was Full Sail Golden Ale, followed in 1988 by Full Sail Imperial Porter, Full Sail Amber Ale, and Wassail Winter Ale.

The Hood River station is a historic train station in Hood River, Oregon, currently serving the heritage Mount Hood Railroad. The station was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988 as the Oregon–Washington Railroad and Navigation Company Passenger Station. The station was built by the Oregon–Washington Railroad and Navigation Company, a subsidiary of the Union Pacific Railroad, in 1911. Amtrak's Pioneer also used the station and nearby area from 1977–1997.

The First National Bank of Hood River is a historic bank building located in downtown Hood River, Oregon, United States. The bank building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2006.

The International Museum of Carousel Art was a museum in Hood River in the U.S. state of Oregon focused on carousels. The museum claimed to be the largest such collection in the world. It had 8,000 to 10,000 visitors per year.The museum was founded in 1983 as the Portland Carousel Museum after the founders, Duane and Carol Perron, helped restore a 1914 carousel in the late 1970s. It was a non profit organization. The Hood River museum opened October 17, 1999 and attracted about three thousand visitors in its first year.The collection contained about 110 carved animals, an operational Wurlitzer band organ, chariots, and other artifacts. The exhibits featured European animals, major American carvers, armored horses, and the restoration process. The museum closed in late 2010, initially with the intent of relocating, but the closure was later made permanent.

The Hood River County Library and Georgiana Smith Park was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1998.It was a community effort to get the library built, with a woman's club leading, and eventually securing a $17,500 Carnegie grant. The library was built in 1913–14. The Georgiana Smith Park was completed in 1935.

Butler Bank is a historic bank building in downtown Hood River, Oregon, United States, built during Hood River's second major phase of urban development. It was designed by Portland-based A. E. Doyle (1877–1928), one of the Pacific Northwest's most celebrated architects of the early 20th century, during the later years of his career. It is one of only two commercial buildings he designed in the Columbia River Gorge region, and his only Egyptian Revival-style commission in Oregon. It was erected in 1924 for Butler Banking Company, which was led by Leslie Butler (1847–1944). Butler and his son Truman opened the Butler and Company Bank in 1900 as Hood River's first bank and incorporated it as the Butler Banking Company in 1905. Despite early commercial success, after the Great Depression it failed in 1932. The Butlers were regarded as blameless in the failure and continued as respected businessmen. In addition to his prominent role in business during the early years of Hood River's development, Leslie Butler was very active in voluntary and philanthropic activities throughout Oregon, especially in the area of public health.The bank building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000.
