Silesian Beskids

Stożek Wielki (Czech: Velký Stožek; literally "big cone") is a mountain on the border of Poland and the Czech Republic, in the Silesian Beskids mountain range. It reaches a height of 978 metres (3,209 ft). The peak of the mountain has a characteristic conical shape and on its slopes grow beech and coniferous trees. It used to host a border crossing, which was eliminated in 2007 due to both countries entering the Schengen Area. The mountain hut, located around 140 metres (460 ft) from the peak, was built from the initiative of Polskie Towarzystwo Turystyczne "Beskid" (Polish Touristic Society "Beskid"). It was opened on 9 July 1922, with over four thousand visitors, national and regional government representatives, and hiking clubs in attendance.Stożek Wielki can be accessed by hiking trails from the nearby municipalities from both sides of the border. There is also a ski resort on the mountain, which skiers can reach using the chairlift.Through a number of hiking routes it is possible to reach other summits such as Kubalonka, Czantoria Wielka, Soszów Wielki and towns, down into Wisła, Wisła-Głębce, Istebna, Jaworzynka and Jablunkov. The Main Beskid Trail (Polish: Główny Szlak Beskidzki), the major long distance hiking trail in the region, also crosses the peak.

It is situated in the Silesian Beskids mountain range in the historical region of Cieszyn Silesia and ethnic region of the Silesian Gorals. Wisła is the Polish name for the Vistula River, which has its source in the mountains near the town. It is the only town in Poland with a majority Lutheran population (as of 2006 roughly two-thirds of the population were Protestant, which is a drop from 94,4% in 1900).Wisła is a popular year-round tourist destination, being home to Malinka, a ski jumping hill. It is also known for being the home town of ski jumper Adam Małysz. Wisła is also the home of the Beskid Museum displaying agricultural tools, folk costumes and goatskin bagpipes from the surrounding region.

Lomná (river)

(Polish: , Cieszyn Silesian: ) also known as (Polish: , Cieszyn Silesian: ) is a 17 kilometres (11 mi)-long river in Frýdek-Místek District, Moravian-Silesian Region, Czech Republic, in the historical region of Cieszyn Silesia. It is the left tributary of the Olza River, to which it enters in Jablunkov (Jabłonków). It originates near the border with Slovakia and flows through the villages of Horní Lomná (Łomna Górna), Dolní Lomná (Łomna Dolna) and Bocanovice (Boconowice). It was mentioned in 1592 as przi rzece Lomny. The name is derived from the words łom (clatter, rumble, susurrus) or załom (turn, bend).

or Wielka Czantoria (Czech: Velká Čantoryje) is a mountain on the border of Poland and the Czech Republic, in the Silesian Beskids mountain range. It reaches a height of 995 metres (3,264 ft). Parts of the mountain on both sides are designated a protected area.

Gírová

Gírová (Polish: Girowa) is an 840-metre-high (2,756 ft) mountain in the Silesian Beskids mountain range, in the Moravian-Silesian Region, Czech Republic. The mountain is located several kilometers from the borders with Poland and Slovakia. There is a mountain hut on the mountain, at the elevation of 790 m (2,592 ft). It was opened on 16 October 1932 by the Club of Czechoslovak Tourists. Six year afterwards, the hut was rented by Franciszek Schulhauser, who has been administering it until 1967. During the communist era, the hut was owned by several state companies, and was not fully opened to the tourists. It was only on 4 September 1993, when the hut was fully opened.There are two tourist trails leading to Gírová. One can reach the mountain from Mosty u Jablunkova (Mosty koło Jabłonkowa) and Bukovec (Bukowiec), the second one from Jablunkov (Jabłonków).

Istebna [iˈstɛbna] is a large village and the seat of Gmina Istebna, Cieszyn County in the Silesian Voivodeship, southern Poland. The village is situated in the Silesian Beskids mountain range, near the borders with the Czech Republic and Slovakia, in the historical region of Cieszyn Silesia. The Olza River flows through the village.
