Maharagama is an outer suburb of Colombo, Sri Lanka on the High-Level (A4) Road about 10 km (6.2 mi) from the centre of the commercial capital. It developed rapidly in the 1980s as a dormitory suburb. Governed by the Maharagama Urban Council, the town possesses facilities like supermarkets, department stores, clothing, food and beverages shops to fulfill the needs of citizens. There are number of bus routes passing the area and starting from the suburb that connect Maharagama to all the suburbs. The Sri Lanka Transport Board has a depot in Maharagama.

Arawwala or (Erewwala, Arewwala) is a town situated in the Kesbewa electorate, Colombo District, in the Western Province, Sri Lanka. It is located about 20 km distance via High Level (A4) & Maharagama - Piliyandala road from the commercial capital Colombo.

The University of Sri Jayewardenepura (also known as Jayawardhanapura University or USJ; Sinhala: ශ්‍රී ජයවර්ධනපුර විශ්වවිද්‍යාලය, romanized: Çri Jayawardhanapura Wishwawidyala, Tamil: ஸ்ரீ ஜயவர்தனபுர பல்கலைக்கழகம்) is a public university in Sri Lanka. It is in Gangodawila, Nugegoda, near Sri Jayewardenepura Kotte, the country's administrative capital. It was formed in 1958 from the Vidyodaya Pirivena, a Buddhist educational centre which was founded in 1873 by Hikkaduwe Sri Sumangala Thera.

Boralesgamuwa is a city on the Colombo-Horana Road about 14 km (9 mi) south-east of the commercial capital Colombo. The Boralesgamuwa junction was formerly known as Nagass Handiya. The Colombo South Waste Processing Facility (also referred to as the Karadiyana W2E Project or Karadiyana Power Station) is a municipal solid waste-fired thermal power station currently under construction at a 10-acre (40,000 m2) site in Karadiyana, Sri Lanka. Together with the KCHT Power Station, it is one of two projects that won the bid by the Urban Development Authority, from a pool of 121 bidders. Construction of the facility began on 23 August 2017 with a completion slated for mid-2019. The estimated cost of the project is approximately US$91 million.The 10 megawatt power station will be operated by Fairway Waste Management (Private) Limited, a subsidiary of the Fairway Holdings. It will use 500 metric tons (1,100,000 lb) of waste, with the generated power sold to the state-owned Ceylon Electricity Board at a rate of Rs. 37.10 per KWh generated. The residual bottom ash from the process will be used for road construction and other uses, while the unusable fly ash (amounting to 2%) will be disposed of at predesignated locations.

Bellanwila Rajamaha Viharaya is a Buddhist temple situated in Bellanwila, Colombo District, Sri Lanka. Located around 12 km south to the Colombo city, near Dehiwala - Maharagama road, the temple attracts hundreds of devotees daily and is famous for its annual Esala Perehera festival which usually takes place in the month of August or September. One of the most venerated Buddhist temples in Sri Lanka, many devotees flock to worship the sacred Bo tree of Bellanwila Rajamaha Vihara, which is considered to be one of the first offshoots of Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi in Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka. The present chief incumbent of Bellanwila Rajamaha Vihara is Ven. Dr. Bellanwila Dhammaratana Nayaka Thera.

The Sri Lanka Air Force Museum (SLAF Museum) is the museum of the Sri Lanka Air Force, and its predecessor, the Royal Ceylon Air Force. Open to the public, the museum is at the SLAF Ratmalana and is maintained by the Sri Lanka Air Force.

The University of Vocational Technology (UoVT) Sinhala: වෘත්තීය තාක්ෂණ විශ්වවිද්‍යාලය, Tamil: இலங்கை வாழ்க்கைதொழில் தொழிநுட்பவியல் பல்கலைக்கழகம் is established by the parliamentary Act No. 31 of 2008, in 2009 and functions under the purview of the Ministry of Higher Education, Technology and Innovation . The general objective of the University of Vocational Technology is to provide progressive upward movement to the students in the Engineering Technology Education and Industrial Training System, based on their aptitudes and abilities, to acquire university education.The University of Vocational Technology hosts four faculties, fourteenth departments, and teaches about 5000 students in the fields of mechatronics, manufacturing, IT(software), IT(Network), IT(Multimedia & Web), food, film and television production, building services technology, construction technology, industrial management and teaching.

Piliyandala (Sinhala: පිළියන්දල, Tamil: பிலியந்தலை) is a suburb in Colombo, Sri Lanka. It is situated approximately 18 kilometres (11 mi) south of Colombo.
