Viano, Reggio Emilia

The province of Reggio Emilia (Italian: provincia di Reggio nell'Emilia; Emilian: pruvînsa ed Rèz) is a province in the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy. The capital city, which is the most densely populated comune (municipality) in the province, is Reggio Emilia. It has an area of around 2,292 square kilometres (885 sq mi) and, As of June 2023, has a population of 525,366. There are 42 comuni (SG: comune) in the province. Rolo, the smallest comune in the province by area, is the comune farthest to the East. Ventasso is the comune farthest to the West. The border towns of the Province are Ventasso, which is the smallest comune by population, to the south and Luzzara in the north. Luzzara is the second largest comune in Emilia-Romagna and has the highest number of foreign nationals in the region.The province is home to the historical Canossa Castle, property of the countess Matilde; it is where the Walk to Canossa of Henry IV occurred. Representatives of the free municipalities of Reggio, Modena, Bologna and Ferrara met in Reggio Emilia's Sala del Tricolore in 1797 to proclaim the Repubblica Cispadana, adopting the three colour green-white-red flag to represent their newly formed Republic; it was later adopted in 1848 as the national flag.

Albinea (Reggiano: Albinèa or La Fôla) is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Reggio Emilia in the Italian region Emilia-Romagna, located about 60 kilometres (37 mi) west of Bologna and about 10 kilometres (6 mi) southwest of Reggio nell'Emilia. A document shows that in 980 Holy Roman Emperor Otto II recognized the existence and rights of the ancient Pieve (parish church) of Albinea. From 1070 it was a possession of the bishops of Reggio, who also had a place here. Later, from 1412, it was a fief of the Manfredi family, who held it until 1730. Albinea borders the following municipalities: Quattro Castella, Reggio Emilia, Scandiano, Vezzano sul Crostolo, Viano. Albinea was for the most part of its history a rural village; nowadays, a pleasant landscape, between the plains and the lowest hills of the Apennines, a nice climate, and the opportunities of a developed centre have made Albinea an elegant and comfortable place. The short distance from Reggio Emilia allows many citizens to commute daily.

The municipality of Casina contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Banzola, Barazzone, Beleo, Bergogno, Bettola, Bocco, Boschi, Braglio, Brugna, Casaleo, Casetico, Castignola, Ciolla, Cortogno, Costaferrata, Crocicchio, Faieto, Giandeto Straduzzi, Il Monte, La Ripa, Leguigno Faggeto, Lezzolo, L'Incrostolo, Migliara-Boastra, Molino di Cortogno, Monchio l'Axella, Montale, Montata, Paullo Chiesa, Sordiglio, Strada-Fabbrica, Trazara, and Villa Bonini. Casina borders the following municipalities: Carpineti, Castelnovo ne' Monti, Canossa, Vezzano sul Crostolo, Viano. The restored Oratorio di Beleo is located in the frazione of Beleo.

Quattro Castella borders the following municipalities: Albinea, Bibbiano, Reggio Emilia, San Polo d'Enza, Vezzano sul Crostolo. Two of its churches include Sant'Antonino Martire in town; and the Oratory of the Madonna della Battaglia outside of the town.
