Millbrook Community School was a secondary school in Southampton, England. The school was situated close to the west border of the city - formerly Millbrook Secondary School for Boys and attracted pupils from several surrounding areas.In early 1997 the school was granted a Sports Lottery Board award of £1.53 million. From late summer 1998 the local community and pupils were able to use some additional facilities in the school. These included: floodlit courts, a sports hall, a gymnasium with a sprung wooden floor, a fully equipped fitness suite, a meeting room, a community lounge, offices and a reception area. All these areas were accessible to people with disabilities. The school was last inspected by OFSTED in September 2006. As part of Southampton City Council's review of secondary schooling in the city, called Learning Futures, the school closed in September 2008. From September 2008 the school site has acted as the lower school of Oasis Academy Lord's Hill, while the former Oaklands Community School site is the upper school, until new premises are built around 2012, when both existing sites will close.

Tanner's Brook is a 7-kilometre (4.3 mi) river that rises in North Baddesley and flows to Southampton Water. The brook's name comes from a 19th-century tannery that stood close to where the river passed under Millbrook Road in Millbrook.The longest tributary of Tanner's Brook is Hollybrook which joins it in Shirley. Above where the two streams join they both flow through sections of Lordsdale Greenway. On its lower course Tanner's Brook flows through Millbrook and is probably the brook that gives Millbrook its name. Within Millbrook a small section of the river was culverted during the construction of the Salisbury and Southampton Canal. This was filled with concrete in 1964 as part of a flood relief project.Originally the river was joined on the mudflats of Southampton Water by Wimpson Stream but with the mudflats being reclaimed by the expanding docks the Wimpson Stream now joins Tanner's Brook before it reaches Southampton Water.

Oaklands Community School was a mixed comprehensive school in west Southampton, Hampshire, in the south of England. The school served the Lordshill community from 1983 to 2008 for 11 to 16-year-olds. In its later years during 2005 and 2008 it became a specialist Arts College. The most recent Ofsted inspection was 27 September 2004, when the school was praised, the introduction to the report reading "Oaklands Community School is a very good school. Its exceptional egalitarian ethos ensures that all students are treated with care, respect and encouragement. Very strong leadership, a commitment to equality of opportunity, improvement and raised standards combined with a good quality of education for all students result in a school which provides good value for money."According to the Department of Education performance tables, the school obtained the fourth-highest CVA score in the city. This is a new, complex Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 4 contextual value added (CVA) score designed to show the progress children have made. This is done by comparing their achievements with those of other pupils nationally who had the same or similar prior attainment in their test results at age 10 or 11 in 2001.

Oasis Academy Lord's Hill is an Academy situated in the city of Southampton, Hampshire and specialises in Arts. Oasis Academy Lord's Hill replaced Millbrook Community School and Oaklands Community School which both closed in August 2008.

Regents Park Community College is a mixed Comprehensive School in West Southampton, Hampshire, in the south of England. The most recent Ofsted inspection was in April 2018 when the inspectors reported that "Teaching is characterised by highly effective planning, secure subject knowledge among the teachers, the use of a wide range of teaching strategies and the use of detailed information about pupils." Regents Park is a suburb of Southampton in England. A large house and grounds, after which the area is named, formerly occupied the land with the current Regents Park Road following the route of the Carriage Drive. A former gatehouse or lodge which once guarded the entrance to this still stands at the junction Bard of Regents Park Road, Waterhouse Lane and St Edmunds Road. Victorian "villa" style houses occupying the Northern part of Regents Park Road represent the initial phase of redevelopment following demolition of the large house. Later Victorian and then Edwardian properties followed before much of the Southern part of the road was given over to 1930s style semi-detached and detached housing. This phase of development eventually extended West to King George's Avenue and North to Oakley Road and South to what is now the main Millbrook Road. It is this area which is now generally known as Regents Park, although the description is a loose one and is also taken to include the housing between Oakley Road and Shirley High Street / Romsey Road, which is also the location of the former Regents Park girls school, now Regents Park Community College. The area now consists mainly of private housing, and it is sometimes seen as being part of neighbouring Millbrook or Shirley. Millbrook neighbours Regents Park to the west, with Shirley to the north and Freemantle to the east. Southampton's container port and Southampton Water are to the south. The area is home to the headquarters of the Southampton City Scout District.

University of Southampton School of Medicine is a medical school in England. It is part of the University of Southampton with a site at Southampton General Hospital, offering 5 Medicine courses, all leading to the award of Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (BMBS). Graduates of the BM5/BM6/BM(EU) programme are also awarded an integrated BMedSc (Hons) degree. Prior to 2013, the Bachelor of Medicine (BM) degree was awarded. Under 2017 Complete University Guide Rankings, Southampton Medical School ranked 22nd in all United Kingdom Medical Schools The 2017 Guardian University league tables placed Southampton 9th out of all medical schools in the UK. It is ranked as the 12th best medical school in the UK for clinical medicine by U.S. News & World Report.

Millbrook is a suburb and former civil parish of Southampton. As the area developed, several settlements grew within the parish, some of them becoming parishes in their own right, thus reducing the extent of the Millbrook parish. As well as the Millbrook of today, the original Millbrook parish included Freemantle, Regents Park, and Redbridge. Some of these areas are still referred to as being part of Millbrook. The brook that Millbrook was named after is now known as Tanner's Brook.
