Up Nately LNR

Up Nately is a small village in Hampshire, England, located to the south east of Basingstoke. Its nearest railway station is in Hook, three miles to the east of the village. The Basingstoke Canal runs through the village from the former Penny Bridge (on the Greywell Road) in the west, under Brick Kiln Bridge (Blackstocks Lane), Slades Bridge (Heather Lane) and Eastrop Bridge (Heather Row Lane), and, to the east of the village, through the collapsed Greywell Tunnel.

St Swithun's Church is the smallest ancient Church of England parish church in the English county of Hampshire. Newnham and Nately Scures are part of the Anglican United Parish which includes: Greywell, Mapledurwell and Up Nately, which in turn are covenanted with a further seven churches in the area.

Newnham is a village and parish in Hampshire, England. It is centred 4 miles (6.4 km) east of Basingstoke, and 1 mile (1.6 km) west of Hook. At the 2011 census it had a population of 518. A large portion of its land is arable, cultivated fields and scattered woodland leading towards the Basingstoke Canal and part of the Eversley/Stratfield Saye/Tylney Park slightly scattered, ancient forest/woodland. These features skirt the north and south of the area, whereas more urban areas skirt the east and, after Old Basing, the west.

Greywell Tunnel is a disused tunnel on the Basingstoke Canal near Greywell in Hampshire, which is now a 0.4-hectare (0.99-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest.

Nately Scures is a small village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Newnham in the Basingstoke and Deane district of Hampshire, England. Its nearest large village is Hook, which lies approximately 1.7 miles (2.7 km) north-east from the village. In 1931 the parish had a population of 288.

Butter Wood is a 133-hectare (330-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) east of Basingstoke in Hampshire. Part of Up Nately LNR, which is designated a Local Nature Reserve, is in the SSSI.This site is mainly deciduous woodland with a diverse geology and structure. Most of it is former wood pasture, with many glades and broad bridleways, and there are also several copses which were managed as coppice with standards. Fauna include a rich Lepidoptera, including 25 species of butterfly.

Greywell is a small village and civil parish in Hampshire, England – a past winner of the Best Kept Village in Hampshire competition and a recent winner of Best Small Village in Hampshire. It lies on the west bank of the River Whitewater, 6 miles east of Basingstoke and 1.5 miles west of Odiham. The area is popular with walkers and cyclists. Many photographers also take pictures of some of the local architecture. There are 29 Grade II listed buildings or entries in the area, and 2 Grade II* listed buildings. The nearby medieval Odiham Castle is of historical interest. At the centre of the village is the Fox and Goose public house.

Greywell Fen is a 38-hectare (94-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest in Greywell in Hampshire. It is a Nature Conservation Review site, Grade 2, and an area of 13 hectares (32 acres) is a nature reserve called Greywell Moors, which is managed by the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust.This 2-kilometre (1.2-mile) long site is calcareous fen. There is a large area of wet grassland, which is grazed by cattle, and a small area of carr woodland. Meadow flora include cowslip, dyer's greenweed and pepper-saxifrage.

Hook Common and Bartley Heath is a 129.4-hectare (320-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest on the southern outskirts of Hook in Hampshire, England. It is managed by the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust.This site is of particular interest because of its extensive areas of wet heath, which rarely survives in the Thames Basin. There are also areas of dry heath and oak and birch woodland. There is a rich invertebrate assemblage, including the Red Data Book moths Stenoptila graphodactyla and Idaea dilutaria, and the hoverfly Microdon mutabilis.
