Newnham, Hampshire

Nately Scures is a small village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Newnham in the Basingstoke and Deane district of Hampshire, England. Its nearest large village is Hook, which lies approximately 1.7 miles (2.7 km) north-east from the village. In 1931 the parish had a population of 288.

Up Nately LNR is a 2.8-hectare (6.9-acre) local nature reserve in Up Nately in Hampshire. It is owned by Hampshire County Council and Surrey County Council and managed by the Basingstoke Canal Authority. It is part of Butter Wood, which is a Site of Special Scientific Interest.This is a section of the Basingstoke Canal between Up Nately and the Greywell Tunnel. There is water in the canal and the towpath is a public footpath.

Butter Wood is a 133-hectare (330-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) east of Basingstoke in Hampshire. Part of Up Nately LNR, which is designated a Local Nature Reserve, is in the SSSI.This site is mainly deciduous woodland with a diverse geology and structure. Most of it is former wood pasture, with many glades and broad bridleways, and there are also several copses which were managed as coppice with standards. Fauna include a rich Lepidoptera, including 25 species of butterfly.

Greywell Tunnel is a disused tunnel on the Basingstoke Canal near Greywell in Hampshire, which is now a 0.4-hectare (0.99-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest.

Up Nately is a small village in Hampshire, England, located to the south east of Basingstoke. Its nearest railway station is in Hook, three miles to the east of the village. The Basingstoke Canal runs through the village from the former Penny Bridge (on the Greywell Road) in the west, under Brick Kiln Bridge (Blackstocks Lane), Slades Bridge (Heather Lane) and Eastrop Bridge (Heather Row Lane), and, to the east of the village, through the collapsed Greywell Tunnel.

Hook Common and Bartley Heath is a 129.4-hectare (320-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest on the southern outskirts of Hook in Hampshire, England. It is managed by the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust.This site is of particular interest because of its extensive areas of wet heath, which rarely survives in the Thames Basin. There are also areas of dry heath and oak and birch woodland. There is a rich invertebrate assemblage, including the Red Data Book moths Stenoptila graphodactyla and Idaea dilutaria, and the hoverfly Microdon mutabilis.

Hook is a large village and civil parish in the Hart District of northern Hampshire, England. It is situated 6.2 miles (10 km) east of Basingstoke and 36 miles (58 km) northeast of Southampton, on the A30 national route, just north of Junction 5 of the M3 motorway. London is 41 miles (66 km) northeast of the village. In 2019, Hook had an estimated population of 8,208. Hook railway station has direct rail links to both London Waterloo and Basingstoke with indirect routes to Reading, Salisbury, and Southampton. Rail services are provided by South Western Railway. Between 2004 and 2006, Hook expanded eastwards with the development of the Holt Park residential district, and from 2020 northeastwards with the Green Hart Park and Oakwood Grange developments.

Trains typically run every 30 minutes in each direction between Waterloo and Basingstoke. It is located within a five-minute walk of Hook.
