Metropolitan Community Church of New Orleans (formerly known as Vieux Carre Metropolitan Community Church. Metropolitan Community Church of Greater New Orleans and Big Easy Metropolitan Community Church ) is an LGBT-affirmative church in New Orleans. It is a member of the Metropolitan Community Church denomination, and has not held a dedicated edifice for the majority of its history. The 1998 memorial for the 1973 UpStairs Lounge arson attack and fire proved to be a turning point for the modern LGBTQ modern rights movement in New Orleans when mourners refused to avoid TV cameras and media awaiting outside the service. Instead of using the side exit and leaving through an alley the 300-strong crowd sang "United We Stand", a theme song of the gay bar, as they left the memorial service through the front doors. Previous to this the LGBTQ community was closeted and underground. The fire was called the "first gay tragedy of the modern rights movement" and "the last major national news event in the gay community to go almost completely unreported by the national media."

The Carrollton Courthouse (also Carrollton Court House) is a historic building in the Carrollton neighborhood of New Orleans, Louisiana, in the United States. Built in 1855, it originally served as a courthouse before being utilized by several public schools. It is currently (July 2021) under construction for private-sector use.

Leonidas (also known as West Carrollton) is a neighborhood designation in the city of New Orleans. A subdistrict of the Uptown/Carrollton Area, its boundaries as defined by the New Orleans City Planning Commission are: South Claiborne Avenue, Leonidas and Fig Streets to the north, South Carrollton Avenue to the east, the Mississippi River and Jefferson Parish to the west. Although an official city planning district name, the name "Leonidas" is not widely used nor has it any historical usage and the area is usually referred to by the larger neighborhood "Uptown, or "Carrollton". The designated neighborhood incorporates the upper-river half of what had been the town of Carrollton, Louisiana, in the 19th century. It is commonly known to locals simply as "Carrollton, or to distinguish this section, "Upper Carrollton" or "West Carrollton". The portion closer to the river is often called the "Riverbend" or "Carrollton Riverbend." The section closer to the Jefferson Parish line is sometimes known as "Pigeon Town/Pension Town". Today the area thrives on its commercial businesses but it also includes a large residential community. Landmarks in the neighborhood include the Camellia Grill, the Carrollton Streetcar Barn, Palmer Park, the Water Works, and the Oak Street commercial district (including the well known Maple Leaf Bar).

Carrollton is a historic neighborhood of Uptown New Orleans, Louisiana, USA, which includes the Carrollton Historic District, recognized by the Historic District Landmark Commission. It is the part of Uptown New Orleans farthest upriver while still being easily accessible to the French Quarter. It was historically a separate town, laid out in 1833 and incorporated on March 10, 1845. Carrollton was annexed by New Orleans in 1874 (becoming the city's 16th and 17th Wards), but it has long retained some elements of distinct identity. Historically the boundaries of the city of Carrollton were the Mississippi River, the downriver border of Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, Fig Street, and Lowerline Street. The area on the river side of Claiborne Avenue is sometimes referred to as "Old Carrollton". The incorporation of Carrollton created an apparent anomaly in New Orleans street names; Lowerline is upriver from Upperline Street, which was originally the upriver boundary of another suburb annexed in the 1850s.

East Carrollton is a neighborhood of the city of New Orleans. A subdistrict of the Uptown/Carrollton Area, its boundaries as defined by the New Orleans City Planning Commission are: Spruce Street to the northeast, Lowerline Street to the southeast, St. Charles Avenue to the southwest and South Carrollton Avenue to the northwest. This was a portion of what was the city of Carrollton, Louisiana, before it was annexed to the city of New Orleans in the 19th century. Landmarks include the Maple Street commercial district and Lusher School.

Black Pearl is a neighborhood of the city of New Orleans. A subdistrict of the Uptown/Carrollton Area, its boundaries as defined by the New Orleans City Planning Commission are: South Carrollton Avenue and St. Charles Avenue to the north, Lowerline, Perrier and Broadway Streets to the east, and the Mississippi River to the west. In 1974, when the New Orleans City Planning Commission was giving official names to each neighborhood in Orleans Parish designated the area as Black Pearl. "Pearl" refers to the street that runs through the neighborhood, and "black" honors the neighborhood's historically black population. Together, "Black Pearl" refers to a type of pearl that is exquisite and rare.Most of the neighborhood is a section of what was the town of Carrollton in the 19th century; the designated neighborhood boundaries also include a portion downriver of Lowerline Street that was part of the town of Greenville. This latter part includes Uptown Square, a shopping complex converted to offices as well as residences for the elderly. This area on high ground escaped the Hurricane Katrina flooding suffered by most of the city in 2005. However a tornado strike in the early morning hours of February 13, 2007, did significant damage. In 2019, Seven Three Distilling Co released a locally distilled rum, Black Pearl Rum, named after the neighborhood.

Carrollton Avenue is a major thoroughfare stretching 3.9 miles (6.3 km) across the Uptown/Carrollton and Mid-City districts of New Orleans. South Carrollton Avenue runs from St. Charles Avenue in the Riverbend in a northeast lake-bound direction through Carrollton and into Mid-City. After crossing Canal Street it continues as North Carrollton Avenue until intersecting with Esplanade Avenue and Wisner Boulevard at the entrance to City Park.

Ochsner Medical Center, historically also known as Ochsner Clinic, Ochsner Hospital, and Ochsner Foundation Hospital, is a hospital in Jefferson, Louisiana, a short distance from the city limits of New Orleans. It is a part of Ochsner Health System and hosts the organization's headquarters. Since 2019, it has been consistently rated one of the US' best hospitals by US News, and as the top hospital in Louisiana.

Newcomb Art Museum of Tulane University is an art museum located in the Woldenberg Art Center on the campus of Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana, United States. It has been historically known for its significant collection of Newcomb Pottery and other crafts produced at Newcomb College, as well as administering the art collections of the university. Since 2014, the institution has increasingly focused on exhibitions and programs that explore socially engaged art, civic dialogue, and community transformation.

Howard-Tilton Memorial Library is the university library on the uptown campus of Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana. A member of the Association of Research Libraries, the Howard-Tilton Memorial Library is ranked among the top 120 research libraries in North America and is a significant educational and cultural resource in the community. During Hurricane Katrina, the Library suffered extensive damage to its collections and its buildings.

The Huey P. Long Mansion in New Orleans, Louisiana was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.The 1920s Mediterranean Revival house is at 14 Audubon Boulevard, a short distance back from Willow Street and the Tulane University campus. It was formerly owned by Louisiana Governor Huey P. Long, although Long only occasionally resided here. The house is still privately owned. It is a pink stuccoed house built of concrete blocks. According to its NRHP nomination, its architecture "borrows from several Mediterranean styles without being heavily in debt to any of them":The crested broken pediments in the foyer, the scrolled brincaded entrance arch, and the red tile roof are attributable to the Spanish churrigueresque style. The groups of round arches set on Persian columns are attributable to the Byzantine style. The hooded classical style mantels in the front rooms are attributable to the Italian Renaissance. There are also bottle glass windows and heavily cut and paneled doors. The rear sunroom has a marble floor and arches which lead to the balustraded patio.: 1  It was designed by architects Weil, Benson and Bendernagel, a firm asserted to be one of New Orleans' leading architectural firms of the 20th century, .
