Each apartment originally included amenities such as a sunroom, a library, a maid's room, a fireplace, mahogany detailing, and a vacuum cleaning system.The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on March 15, 1984.

The Howard Yard is a CTA rail yard in the Rogers Park neighborhood on the North Side of Chicago, Illinois, on the border with Evanston, Illinois. It is the largest rail yard of the CTA, and stores cars from the Yellow, Red, and Purple Lines of the Chicago Transit Authority. Currently, 5000-series railcars are stored here. It is adjacent to Howard station. The yard was opened in 1919 and gradually replaced the functions of Wilson Yard, until the latter was destroyed by fire in 1996. The yard was rebuilt between 1991 and 1993. A train derailed in the yard in 1990, disrupting rail traffic to Evanston. In 2023, a Yellow Line train collided with a CTA snowplow on tracks adjacent to the yard.

Nyden, an Evanston resident who designed several apartment buildings in the city, designed the building in the Prairie School style. The building's design includes canopied entrances flanked by columns and leadlights, limestone banding, and wide overhanging eaves. Each floor of the building has four rooms, which included amenities such as sunrooms, fireplaces, a vacuum cleaning system, and maid's rooms in some units.The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on March 15, 1984.

The Forest and Annex is a historic apartment building at 901-905 Forest Avenue in Evanston, Illinois. Owner Alfred B. Andrews built The Forest in 1909 and added the annex to the original building in 1912. Andrews would later author Evanston's early zoning ordinances, and he planned his building accordingly, with a spacious lawn providing plenty of room between it and the street. The building has a Prairie School design with a horizontal emphasis, patterned brick, and wide eaves. The 11 apartments in the building all included features such as wood paneling and flooring, fireplaces, and rooms for housekeepers.The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on March 15, 1984.

Each of the building's six apartments included living rooms with fireplaces, sun porches, maids' rooms, vacuum systems, and access to heated garages.The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on March 15, 1984.

Howard is an 'L' station in Chicago, Illinois. It is the northern terminus of the Red Line and the southeastern terminus of the Yellow Line; it also serves the Purple Line, for which it is the southern terminus at non-rush hour times on weekdays and all day on weekends. Trains on the Chicago North Shore and Milwaukee Railroad (North Shore Line) also stopped at Howard from 1926 until that line was abandoned in 1963.
