The Greenwood

Raymond Park Apartments is a historic apartment building at the northeast corner of Hinman Avenue and Grove Street in Evanston, Illinois. The seven-story building was built in 1928; at the time, it was one of Evanston's largest residential apartments. Architects Hall, Laurence & Ratcliffe designed the building in the Tudor Revival style. The building has a brick exterior with sections of rough stone; the exterior is decorated with half-timbering and leadlight windows. The Tudor style is continued in the building's lobbies, which include strapwork, oak panels, and slate flooring.The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on April 12, 2002.

Hillcrest Apartment is a historic apartment building at 1509-1515 Hinman Avenue in Evanston, Illinois. Built in 1922, the three-story brick building has a U-shaped plan with a central courtyard, a common layout for suburban apartment buildings. The courtyard is fenced and gated on its open side, providing privacy despite the building's downtown location. Architect Roy F. France designed the building in the Georgian Revival style. The building's design includes limestone trim meant to approximate quoins, a balustrade with ornamental urns, and pediments atop the entrance blocks.The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on March 15, 1984.

Evanston S.P.A.C.E. (or Evanston SPACE) is a small concert hall and venue for music performance and live recording, and a podcast production facility, as well as serves similarly for the visual arts and literary events located at 1245 Chicago Avenue in Evanston, Illinois, adjacent to Chicago, in close proximity to the CTA Purple Line mass transit elevated train station Dempster, just south of Dempster Avenue. It opened in spring 2008, along with Union Pizzeria, an affiliated restaurant in the same building.It is a notable small concert space in the Chicago area, that seats about 250 people at candle-lit small round tables and as standing spectators. The SPACE has over the years played host to the most renowned folk music artists in the Western World; for example, only in 2014-2015 winter timeframe to Suzanne Vega, Leo Kottke, Justin Townes Earle and Robyn Hitchcock, among many tens of events. S.P.A.C.E. is an acronym for the Society for the Preservation of Art and Culture in Evanston. As of 2018, Bruce Finkelman and Craig Golden, through their firm 16” on Center, own, co-own, operate, and/or co-operate several music venues, including The Empty Bottle, The Promontory, Evanston S.P.A.C.E., Sonotheque (which closed in 2009), and Thalia Hall, all in and near Chicago. Finkeleman and Golde are similarly affiliated with several other restaurants and bars, both at those music venues and free-standing, including Bite Cafe, Dusek's, and Longman & Eagle.

The Buildings at 1301–03 and 1305–07 Judson Avenue are two identical apartment buildings in Evanston, Illinois. Built in 1894, the buildings were among Evanston's first multi-unit apartments. Each building has four units which form a "U" shape. Architect Sidney Smith designed the buildings in the Queen Anne style, which was popular in the late nineteenth century and used in many houses in the vicinity of the apartments. The buildings each feature a brick first floor and shingled second floor, a single porch with two entrances, bay windows, and a bracketed cornice.The buildings were added to the National Register of Historic Places on April 27, 1984. Despite being identical, the buildings are listed separately.

Old College was the first building constructed at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, and was completed in 1855. Although intended to be temporary, it served in various capacities including classrooms, a library, and offices until it was razed after being extensively damaged in 1973.

The Judson is a historic apartment building at 1243-1249 Judson Avenue in Evanston, Illinois. Built in 1911, the three-story brick building has eighteen units. Architect Francis M. Barton designed the building in a style inspired by the Prairie School. The building's design features segmental arched entrances, egg-and-dart decoration, patterned brickwork with horizontal themes, and overhanging bracketed eaves. The design was initially controversial for leaving no space between the building and the sidewalk, breaking from the Prairie School principle of including green space in front of a recessed building to blend in with nearby single-family homes. Prominent architect and Evanston resident Thomas Tallmadge described the building as "equally oblivious to the rights of neighbors and to the principles of good design" in a 1919 issue of the journal The American Architecture.The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on March 15, 1984.

Dempster Street was a commuter railroad station on the Chicago and North Western Railway's Milwaukee Division, now the Union Pacific / North Line. The station was located at Dempster Street and Sherman Avenue, in Evanston, Illinois. It was adjacent to the Dempster Purple Line station. The station consisted of a pair of side platforms on the outside of the line's three tracks. Consistent with the C&NW's left-hand running, the eastern track and platform served southbound trains (to Chicago) while the western track and platform served northbound trains (to Milwaukee). The center track was a through track and did not serve the station. The entire facility was elevated above ground level on a solid fill embankment. Access to the platforms was available by a number of stairways on both sides of the crossing of Dempster. By the 1950s, Chicago and North Western management began to reassess its commuter service and determined that the railroad would be more economical and efficient by closing stations in and near Chicago and focusing on suburban and long-haul traffic while the Chicago Transit Authority could carry passengers in Chicago and its neighboring suburbs. To this end, the company went before the Illinois Commerce Commission in June 1958, requesting permission to abandon more than twenty stops, alter train schedules, revise its ticketing structure, and raise fares on monthly tickets. The ICC returned its verdict on November 14, ruling in favor of granting the majority of the Chicago and North Western's requests, which included the closure of the Dempster Street station. The fare increase and service alterations went into effect on December 1, 1958, and Dempster Street was abandoned along with twenty other stations either in or near Chicago on the Milwaukee, Galena, and Wisconsin Divisions.

Dempster is an 'L' station on the CTA's Purple Line at 1316 Sherman Place in Evanston, Illinois (directional coordinates 1300 north, 800 west). The current station has been in place since 1910. A 1991 CTA budget crisis almost precipitated the station's closure, but the CTA decided to keep it open. Dempster is now one of the stations on the CTA's 2004-2008 Capital Improvement Plan.

Hinman Apartments is a historic apartment building at 1629-1631 Hinman Avenue in Evanston, Illinois. Built in 1904, the three-story brick building has six apartments. Architects Atchison & Edbrooke, who also designed Evanston's Ridgewood Apartments, designed the building in the Classical Revival style. The building's design includes a two-story portico supported by Ionic columns, bow windows on either side of the portico, and a dentillated cornice and parapet. The apartments are arranged in a railroad plan, with rooms arranged along a long central hallway; while this layout was often associated with cheap apartments, the Hinman still targeted upper-class residents with its design and amenities.The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on March 15, 1984.

The Homestead is a historic apartment hotel at 1625 Hinman Avenue in Evanston, Illinois. Opened in 1928, it was one of several apartment hotels built in Evanston in the 1920s. Popular in the early twentieth century, apartment hotels housed a mixture of short-term and long-term guests; they were frequently used by workers who did not wish or could not afford to live near their workplace full-time. Architect Philip Arthur Danielson designed the building in the Colonial Revival style, which was used on many other apartments from the era in Evanston. The design includes a verandah supported by Doric columns along the front facade, two projecting three-bay windows, brick quoins, and a dentillated cornice with a pediment.The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on February 1, 2006.

The Building at 1401–1407 Elmwood Avenue is a historic rowhouse building at 1401–1407 Elmwood Avenue in Evanston, Illinois. Built in 1890, the three-story building includes four rowhouse units. It was one of several rowhouses built in the late nineteenth century in Evanston; these rowhouses were a precursor to Evanston's many suburban apartments, which also offered house-like living in a multi-unit setting. Architect Stephen A. Jennings, a prominent Evanston architect who designed several of Evanston's large single-family homes, designed the building. The building's design includes a large central gable, enclosed porches supported by arches on the corner units, porches with shed roofs on the central units, and a bracketed wooden cornice.The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on March 15, 1984.

WPNA-FM (103.1 MHz) is a commercial FM radio station licensed to Niles, Illinois, and serving the Chicago metropolitan area. It is owned by The Polish National Alliance, through licensee Alliance Radio, LLC. It airs a mix of Polish and International Contemporary Hits. WPNA-FM has an effective radiated power (ERP) of 6,000 watts. The transmitter is atop the Bank One Building in Evanston.
