Hinman Apartments

The Homestead is a historic apartment hotel at 1625 Hinman Avenue in Evanston, Illinois. Opened in 1928, it was one of several apartment hotels built in Evanston in the 1920s. Popular in the early twentieth century, apartment hotels housed a mixture of short-term and long-term guests; they were frequently used by workers who did not wish or could not afford to live near their workplace full-time. Architect Philip Arthur Danielson designed the building in the Colonial Revival style, which was used on many other apartments from the era in Evanston. The design includes a verandah supported by Doric columns along the front facade, two projecting three-bay windows, brick quoins, and a dentillated cornice with a pediment.The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on February 1, 2006.

Old College was the first building constructed at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, and was completed in 1855. Although intended to be temporary, it served in various capacities including classrooms, a library, and offices until it was razed after being extensively damaged in 1973.

The Woman's Club of Evanston is a historic house in Evanston, Illinois and is the headquarters for the social club of the same name. It is located at 1702 Chicago Avenue. On November 9, 2006, the clubhouse was added to the National Register of Historic Places.

The Northwestern University School of Professional Studies (SPS) is one of twelve schools comprising Northwestern University, with campuses in Evanston and Chicago, Illinois. The school was founded in 1933 under its original name of "University College." The School of Professional Studies offers highly specialized degree programs at the undergraduate, post-baccalaureate, graduate, post-graduate, and professional development levels. With more than 2,500 students, SPS has campuses in both Evanston and downtown Chicago in the Streeterville neighborhood. Northwestern SPS is led by Thomas F. Gibbons, who joined the university in 1992 and was appointed Dean of the college in 2002.

Hillcrest Apartment is a historic apartment building at 1509-1515 Hinman Avenue in Evanston, Illinois. Built in 1922, the three-story brick building has a U-shaped plan with a central courtyard, a common layout for suburban apartment buildings. The courtyard is fenced and gated on its open side, providing privacy despite the building's downtown location. Architect Roy F. France designed the building in the Georgian Revival style. The building's design includes limestone trim meant to approximate quoins, a balustrade with ornamental urns, and pediments atop the entrance blocks.The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on March 15, 1984.

Raymond Park Apartments is a historic apartment building at the northeast corner of Hinman Avenue and Grove Street in Evanston, Illinois. The seven-story building was built in 1928; at the time, it was one of Evanston's largest residential apartments. Architects Hall, Laurence & Ratcliffe designed the building in the Tudor Revival style. The building has a brick exterior with sections of rough stone; the exterior is decorated with half-timbering and leadlight windows. The Tudor style is continued in the building's lobbies, which include strapwork, oak panels, and slate flooring.The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on April 12, 2002.

The Frances Willard House is a historic house museum owned by the National WCTU and is a National Historic Landmark at 1730 Chicago Avenue in Evanston, Illinois. Built in 1865, it was the home of Frances Willard (1839-1898) and her family, and was the longtime headquarters of the Woman's Christian Temperance Union (WCTU). Willard called the house Rest Cottage because it became a place for her to rest in between her tours and WCTU activities.

The Woman's Christian Temperance Union Administration Building is a historic building in Evanston, Illinois, United States. It has served as the publishing house and national headquarters of the Woman's Christian Temperance Union since its construction in 1910. The organization had an important role in the national discussion on prohibition and women's suffrage.

WPNA-FM (103.1 MHz) is a commercial FM radio station licensed to Niles, Illinois, and serving the Chicago metropolitan area. It is owned by The Polish National Alliance, through licensee Alliance Radio, LLC. It airs a mix of Polish and International Contemporary Hits. WPNA-FM has an effective radiated power (ERP) of 6,000 watts. The transmitter is atop the Bank One Building in Evanston.

Amazingrace Coffeehouse (later known as Amazingrace) was an influential counterculture music and performance venue in Evanston, Illinois, during the 1970s. Run by a collective called the Amazingrace Family, it was known for its welcoming atmosphere, eclectic menu, excellent sound system, and respectful audiences. Amazingrace was the top music club in the Chicago Reader poll 1973-1975, plus Number 3 in the 1975 wrap-up of "Who's Who in Chicago's Alternative Culture". Performers from a wide variety of genres (including blues, bluegrass, folk, funk, rock, jazz, comedy, spoken word, and theater) played at Amazingrace from its beginning on the campus of Northwestern University until its final incarnation at The Main on Chicago Avenue in Evanston.

The Greenwood is a historic apartment building at 425 Greenwood Street in Evanston, Illinois. Built in 1912, the three-story building is set in a neighborhood of single-family houses. Architect Thomas McCall designed the building in the Prairie School style. The building features an overall horizontal emphasis, casement and bay windows, stained glass, and overhanging eaves. Its six apartments have a railroad plan, in which rooms are organized along a narrow central hallway.The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on March 15, 1984.
