Brimsdown Hill

Bradley House, or Maiden Bradley House, is a country house in the village of Maiden Bradley, Wiltshire, England, between the great country estates of Stourhead and Longleat. It is the family home of the Duke of Somerset, having been in the Seymour family for over 300 years. The house is an 1820s remodelling of the west wing of a much larger house which had been completed in the early 18th century. Bradley House is listed Grade II on the National Heritage List for England.

Kingston Deverill is a village and civil parish in Wiltshire, England. Its nearest towns are Mere, about 3+1⁄2 miles (6 km) to the southwest, and Warminster, about 5 miles (8 km) to the northeast. The parish and its demographic figures include the village of Monkton Deverill. To the north of the village, under the slope of Cold Kitchen Hill, is the hamlet of Whitepits. The parish is in the Deverill Valley which carries the upper waters of the River Wylye. The six villages of the valley – Kingston, Monkton, Brixton Deverill, Hill Deverill, Longbridge Deverill and Crockerton – are known as the Deverills.

Horningsham is a small village and civil parish in Wiltshire, England, on the county border with Somerset. The village lies about 4 miles (6 km) southwest of the town of Warminster and 4+1⁄2 miles (7 km) southeast of Frome, Somerset. The parish forms part of the Longleat estate and includes the hamlets of Hitcombe Bottom and Newbury.

Maiden Bradley is a village in south-west Wiltshire, England, about 6 miles (10 km) south-west of Warminster and bordering the county of Somerset. The B3092 road between Frome and Mere forms the village street. Bradley House, the seat of the Duke of Somerset, is adjacent to the village. Maiden Bradley is the principal settlement in the civil parish of Maiden Bradley with Yarnfield. The parish is in the Cranborne Chase and West Wiltshire Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and was one of the clearings in the former Selwood Forest. In the north-west the parish includes the hamlet of Gare Hill, but most dwellings there are in Trudoxhill parish, Somerset.

Maiden Bradley Priory was a priory in Wiltshire, England. It was founded as a leper colony in 1164, and in 1189 was handed over to the Augustinian order. It was dissolved in 1536.

Longleat Safari and Adventure Park in Wiltshire, England, was opened in 1966 as the world's first drive-through safari park outside Africa.

Longleat is an English stately home and the seat of the Marquesses of Bath. A leading and early example of the Elizabethan prodigy house, it is adjacent to the village of Horningsham and near the towns of Warminster and Westbury in Wiltshire, and Frome in Somerset. The Grade I listed house is set in 1,000 acres (400 ha) of parkland landscaped by Capability Brown, with 4,000 acres (1,600 ha) of let farmland and 4,000 acres (1,600 ha) of woodland, which includes a Center Parcs holiday village. It was the first stately home to open to the public, and the Longleat estate has the first safari park outside Africa and other attractions including a hedge maze. The house was built by Sir John Thynne and designed mainly by Robert Smythson, after Longleat Priory was destroyed by fire in 1567. It took 12 years to complete and is widely regarded as one of the finest examples of Elizabethan architecture in Britain. It continues to be the seat of the Thynn family, who have held the title of Marquess of Bath since 1789; the eighth and present Marquess is Ceawlin Thynn.

Longleat Priory was a priory near Warminster, Wiltshire, in the south of England. A short-lived priory was established and dissolved near to Longleat in the 12th century. The main priory was established before 1233 and was under the control of the Dean of Salisbury until its dissolution in 1529. The site is currently occupied by Longleat House.

Monkton Deverill (anciently known as East Monkton) is a village and former civil parish in Wiltshire, England, about five miles south of Warminster and four miles northeast of Mere. It stands on the River Wylye and forms part of a group of villages known as the Upper Deverills.

Dunkerton Colliery Halt railway station served the colliery near the village of Dunkerton, Somerset, England from 1911 to 1925 on the Bristol and North Somerset Railway.

Shearwater (or Shear Water) is a man-made freshwater lake near Crockerton village, about 2+1⁄4 miles (3.6 km) southwest of the town of Warminster in Wiltshire, England. The lake is formed from a tributary of the River Wylye.It is within the Longleat Estate (which also contains a Safari Park) and is one of five lakes of various sizes. Shearwater Lake, the largest, was created at the end of the 18th century, and designed by the 3rd Duke of Bridgwater, Francis Egerton. It is fed by streams dammed by the then Marquis of Bath. The lake is surrounded by mature woodland and is popular with anglers, walkers (especially those with dogs), runners, and cyclists. It is about 650 yards long. There is a tea-room at Bargate Cottage which accepts dogs inside.The Shearwater Sailing Club has a boathouse and a variety of dinghies on the lake, the largest being sixteen feet (4.88 meters) in length.

White Sheet Hill, also known as Whitesheet Hill, is a hill in the English county of Wiltshire. As one of the most westerly areas of downland in Britain the area is noted for its chalky farmland which contains a rich variety of rare and protected fauna and flora. The hill is also the site of a neolithic causeway camp and barrows; and an Iron Age hill fort. The Roman road which runs along the hill was at one time the main route through the Selwood Forest. The hill is part of the Stourhead estate and has been in the ownership of the National Trust since 1946. The hill is the site of the 136.1 hectares (336 acres) Whitesheet Hill biological Site of Special Scientific Interest, notified in 1965. Both the National Trust and the Dutchy of Cornwall own land within Whitesheet Hill SSSI. White Sheet Hill is divided between the civil parishes of Kilmington, Mere and Stourton with Gasper. It is situated within the Cranborne Chase and West Wiltshire Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and has extensive views over Somerset, Dorset and Wiltshire. It is home to White Sheet Radio Flying Club who use it as a slope soaring site for fun and competition flying.
