The Štiavnica Mountains (also Štiavnické Mountains; Slovak: Štiavnické vrchy, pronounced [ˈʂcɪɐʋɲitskeː ˈʋr̩xi]) are a volcanic mountain range southern central Slovakia. They are part of Inner Western Carpathians and the Slovenské stredohorie Mountains. The area is protected by Štiavnica Mountains Protected Landscape Area. They are bordered by the Kremnica Mountains (Kremnické vrchy) in the north, Pliešovce and Krupina basins (Krupinská kotlina) in the east, Danubian Hills (Podunajská pahorkatina) in the south and Pohronský Inovec, Vtáčnik and Žiar Basin (Žiarska kotlina) in the west. The highest point is Sitno (1,009 m). Štiavnica Mountains are an immense caldera created by the collapse of an ancient volcano. Due to their volcanic origin, they are mineral-rich, with around 140 kinds of minerals. In the past, silver mining flourished in the area around the town of Banská Štiavnica. From originally over 60 lakes called tajchy in Štiavnica Mountains, there are over 30 still existing today. Although they are now integrated in their natural environment, they were originally built as water reservoirs serving the mining industry, most of them in the 18th century.

The Svätý Anton manor house (Slovak: Kaštieľ Svätý Anton or Kaštieľ Antol or Koháriovský kaštieľ) is a late baroque-classicist mansion constructed in 1744 with an English landscape garden park in Svätý Anton, Slovakia. It was one of the main residences of the Saxe-Coburg and Gotha-Koháry family. Both the mansion and park are open to the public.

Žibritov (Hungarian: Zsibritó) is a village and municipality in the Krupina District of the Banská Bystrica Region of Slovakia.

Svätý Anton (lit. 'St. Anthony'; Hungarian: Szentantal) is a village in Banská Štiavnica District in the Banská Bystrica Region of central Slovakia. It is situated near the historic town of Banská Štiavnica. During the period of Communist Czechoslovakia, the village had to use the name Antol as a part of anti-religious campaigns. The first mention of Svätý Anton in written sources dates to 1266, when the village was owned by the Hont-Pázmány family of the Čabraď Castle. The last private owner was Ferdinand I of Bulgaria.

Banská Belá (German: Dilln; Hungarian: Bélabánya) is a village and municipality in Banská Štiavnica District, in the Banská Bystrica Region of central Slovakia. It has a population of 1,234.

The town hall in Banská Štiavnica existed in the 14th century, as a ground floor house in Gothic style, with the name "Stuba Praetoriana" or "Stuba Judicis". Between 1507 and 1679 it was modified and extended in Renaissance style. The Chapel of St. Anna was attached to the building but was demolished in the 18th century and, in its place, a sculpture of the Virgin Mary was built. Today's Baroque appearance was given by Štiavnica's master mason, Pircker, in the years 1787–88. Constructional cost was 8,444 florins and 15 kreutzers. A town prison was situated in the basement of the town hall. The beginning of a market was announced from a tower of the town hall.

Calvary Banská Štiavnica (Slovak: Banskoštiavnická Kalvária) is a late-Baroque calvary, architectural and landscape unit in Slovakia, unique in extent and content, formed in the years 1744–1751.

Podhorie (Hungarian: Teplafőszékely) is a village and municipality in Banská Štiavnica District in the Banská Bystrica Region of Slovakia.

Tajchy (singular: tajch, from German Teich) are artificial water reservoirs in the Štiavnica Mountains, in central Slovakia. Most of them were built in order to provide energy for the silver mines of Banská Štiavnica in the 18th century. At their height, tajchy comprised a sophisticated system of 60 reservoirs, connected to each other by more than 100 km of channels and tunnels. 24 artificial lakes still exist and serve recreational purposes. Because of their historical value, tajchy were proclaimed by the UNESCO to be a World Heritage Site on 11 December 1993, together with the town of Banská Štiavnica and technical historical monuments in its surroundings.

Štiavnické vrchy Protected Landscape Area (Slovak: Chránená krajinná oblasť Štiavnické vrchy) is one of the 14 protected landscape areas in Slovakia. It is situated in the Banská Štiavnica, Zvolen, Žiar nad Hronom, Žarnovica, Levice and Krupina districts.

Banská Štiavnica (Slovak pronunciation: [ˈbanskaː ˈʂcɪɐʋɲitsa] ; German: Schemnitz; Hungarian: Selmecbánya (Selmec), pronounced [ˈʃɛlmɛd͡zbaːɲɒ]) is a town in central Slovakia, in the middle of an immense caldera created by the collapse of an ancient volcano. For its size, the caldera is known as the Štiavnica Mountains. Banská Štiavnica has a population of more than 10,000. It is a completely preserved medieval town. Because of their historical value, the town and its surroundings were proclaimed by the UNESCO to be a World Heritage Site on December 11, 1993.

Nový zámok (literally "New Castle") is a castle in Banská Štiavnica, Slovakia. The castle is located on a hill south of the city center at an altitude of 630m above sealevel, marking the highest point of the city center.
