Hayfield railway station was the terminus of the 3 mi (4.8 km) Hayfield branch from New Mills Central station in Derbyshire, England.

Hayfield (SK037870) is a village and civil parish in High Peak, Derbyshire, England, with a population of around 2,700. The village is 3 miles (4.8 km) east of New Mills, 4.5 miles (7.2 km) south of Glossop and 10 miles (16 km) north of Buxton, in the basin of the River Sett.The civil parish includes Hayfield village itself, the hamlets of Little Hayfield and part of Birch Vale, and a significant proportion of the Kinder Scout plateau.

Lantern Pike is a hill located just outside Hayfield, in Derbyshire, England. The land lies within the Peak District National Park and is owned and maintained by the National Trust. It is permanently open to the public. According to Ordnance Survey, it is 373 metres (1,224 ft) in height (measured by air survey).According to the booklet 10 Walks Around Hayfield, published by the Peak District National Park Authority, the name Lantern Pike probably comes from the hill's use as a beacon. The hill is a popular hiking destination, and is often considered a continuation of nearby Kinder Scout. The Peak District Boundary Walk runs south to north past the summit and the Pennine Bridleway crosses the eastern flank of the hill.Lantern Pike gives its name to the Lantern Pike Inn in nearby Little Hayfield.

Birch Vale is a village in the High Peak district of Derbyshire, just outside the boundary of the Peak District National Park, between New Mills and Hayfield. Most of Birch Vale, including the attached hamlet of Thornsett, comes under the administration of New Mills Town Council, though the small part to the east of the former Grouse Inn public house is within the boundaries of Hayfield.

Little Hayfield is a hamlet in the Peak District National Park, in Derbyshire, England. It lies on the A624 between Hayfield and Glossop. At the centre of the hamlet is the Lantern Pike pub, named after the nearby hill of the same name. Fell racing take place in Little Hayfield, and until 2021 an annual country show was held on a local farm, including sheepdog trials.From Clough Mill, a former water-powered and later steam-powered textile mill converted to apartments in 1989, a footpath leads to the summit of Lantern Pike.The screenwriter Tony Warren lived in the village, and is said to have conceived the soap opera Coronation Street in the Lantern Pike pub. Actors Pat Phoenix and Kenneth Cope had spells living in the village, as did producer Bill Podmore.

Chinley Churn is a prominent gritstone hill between the villages of Chinley and Hayfield in the Derbyshire Peak District. The summit is 457 metres (1,499 ft) above sea level.The hilltop ridge area is designated as 'Open Access' land, following the Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000. The trig pillar at the lower secondary summit further south is on private land.Craken Edge Quarry (worked from at least 1640 until the 1900s) is designated a Regionally Important Geological Site. A burial barrow (near the modern trig pillar) was reported in 1901 as the resting place of an ancient Celtic chieftain called Taro Trin (the Bull of Conflict), according to tradition.Chinley Churn is one of the 95 Ethels hills of the Peak District, launched by the countryside charity CPRE in 2021.

The Abbot's Chair is the common name of a former monastic cross, the Charlesworth Cross. Only the socket remains of this boundary cross, built by the monks of Basingwerk Abbey in North Wales. Henry II of England gave the manor of Glossop to the monks, and they gained a market charter for Glossop in 1290, and one for Charlesworth in 1328. In 1433 the monks leased all of Glossopdale to the Talbot family, later Earls of Shrewsbury. It is close to the town of Glossop in the High Peak borough of the English county of Derbyshire, on the so-called Monks Road, near the entrance track to Taiga Farm. The monks used this route in order to reach Hayfield, Simmondley and other villages.

Mount Famine is a gritstone hill between the villages of Hayfield and Chinley in the Derbyshire Peak District, England. The summit is 473 metres (1,552 ft) above sea level. The hill's name originates from the period of the Enclosure Acts (from the late 18th century) when tenant farmers struggled to make a living from poor farming land.A round Bronze Age burial mound on the west side of the hill is about 20 metres (66 ft) wide. It was identified by J Barnatt in 2014.The hilltop area was acquired by the National Trust in 2006 and is designated as access land for the public.The Pennine Bridleway runs along the south and west sides of Mount Famine. Since 2005, there has been an annual fell race each May from Hayfield around Mount Famine and South Head.Mount Famine is one of the 95 Ethels hills of the Peak District, launched by the countryside charity CPRE in 2021.

Partially rural with several villages contained within, its population was 2,794 residents in the 2021 census. The parish is 150 miles (240 km) north west of London, 35 miles (56 km) north west of the county city of Derby, and 1+1⁄3 miles (2.1 km) north of the nearest market town of Chapel-en-le-Frith. Being close to the edge of the county border, it shares a boundary with the parishes of Chapel-en-le-Frith, Edale, Hayfield, New Mills and Whaley Bridge. A substantial portion of the parish is within the Peak District national park.
