Cambourne railway station

Cambourne is a new settlement and civil parish in Cambridgeshire, England, in the district of South Cambridgeshire. It lies on the A428 road between Cambridge, 9 miles (14 km) to the east, and St Neots and Bedford to the west. It comprises the three villages of Great Cambourne, Lower Cambourne and Upper Cambourne. The area is close to Bourn Airfield. Cambourne is the largest settlement in South Cambridgeshire, with a population of 12,350 in the 2021 UK census.

Cambourne Church is a "local ecumenical partnership" between the Church of England, Baptist Union of Great Britain, Methodist Church of Great Britain and the United Reformed Church. It is located in the heart of Cambourne, Cambridgeshire and provides Christian community in the area. The church is theologically diverse and maintains a lively range of traditions within its services. It is the Church of England parish church for Cambourne. The local Roman Catholic community called Saint John Fisher Church also worships within the church centre.

Cambourne Nature Reserve is a 90 hectare nature reserve in Cambourne in Cambridgeshire. It is managed by the Wildlife Trust for Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire.This site has woodland, lakes, ponds, grassland and an orchard. The lakes and ponds have water voles and great crested newts, and birds include skylarks and corn buntings.The reserve occupies several different areas around Cambourne with a number of entrances.

Cambourne Village College is a mixed secondary school located in Cambourne, Cambridgeshire, England. It is a free school that opened in 2013, and is part of a federation with Comberton Village College operating within the Cam Academy Trust.Cambourne Village College had an initial intake of Year 7 pupils (11- and 12-year-olds) in September 2013, but expanded each year with a new Year 7 intake to become a full secondary school. The school's primary catchment area is Cambourne, and largely admits pupils from Jeavons Wood Primary School, Monkfield Park Primary School, Hardwick and Cambourne Community Primary School and The Vine Inter-Church School in Cambourne.The school is located at a purpose-built campus in the north-west of Lower Cambourne. The school has the capacity to accommodate 1250 pupils and 100 staff, and is also available for use by the local community, in common with the Village College tradition in Cambridgeshire. It is the first secondary school to be established in Cambourne. A second campus of the Hardwick and Cambourne Community Primary School was built on the same site to replace the previous temporary campus. In May 2015, Cambourne Village College was judged to be "outstanding" by Ofsted.

Elsworth Wood is a 6.9-hectare (17-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest between Cambourne and Elsworth in Cambridgeshire.This site has three different uncommon types of woodland. It is mainly coppiced field maple, with a varied shrub layer and the ground flora is mainly dog's mercury and bluebells, together with a considerable population of oxlips. There are several nationally uncommon beetles, such as the rove beetle Stichoglossa semirufa.The site is private land with no public access.

Bourn Windmill is an open trestle post mill at Bourn in Cambridgeshire, England, which was standing in 1636. It is a Grade I Listed building and a Scheduled Monument. It is the oldest surviving windmill in the United Kingdom. The mill ceased work commercially in 1927 and was preserved in 1932. In November 2021, it was placed on the Heritage at Risk Register as being in danger of collapse.

Knapwell is a hamlet in Cambridgeshire situated about 10 miles (16 km) west of Cambridge. It is within the diocese of Ely. Its population was estimated at 110 in 2001. At the 2011 census the population had fallen to fewer than 100. Nearby villages include Boxworth, Conington, Elsworth and the expanding new settlement of Cambourne.

Elsworth is a village and civil parish in South Cambridgeshire, England, 9 miles northwest of Cambridge and 7 miles southeast of Huntingdon. At the 2011 census, the population was 726.It was one of only two sites in Cambridgeshire to be covered by the Survey of English Dialects.

Bourn Airport (IATA: n/a, ICAO: EGSN) is located 7 NM (13 km; 8.1 mi) west of Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England. The airfield was originally constructed during World War II as RAF Bourn and was principally used as a base for heavy bombers - Wellingtons, Stirlings and Lancasters were all based at Bourn at one time or another. Nowadays, the airfield is used for recreational use, and flight training has been provided by the Bourn Rural Flying Corps for in excess of 30 years. The airfield is owned by the Taylor Family.

Overhall Grove is a 17.4-hectare (43-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest to the east of Knapwell in Cambridgeshire. It is a Nature Conservation Review site, Grade II, and it is managed by the Wildlife Trust for Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire.This site is the largest elm woodland in the county. It was seriously affected by Dutch elm disease, but many trees have regenerated from their bases, and the mixture of new growth and dead wood provides a very good habitat for insects and birds. There are the remains of a medieval manor and moat at the northern end, and a family of badgers have unearthed pottery dating back to the eleventh century. The ecological value of the site is enhanced by a stream, ponds, clearings and rides.There is access by a footpath from Knapwell High Street.

Caxton is a small rural village and civil parish in the South Cambridgeshire district of Cambridgeshire, England. It is 9 miles west of the county town of Cambridge. In 2001, the population of Caxton parish was 480 people, increasing to 572 at the 2011 Census. Caxton is most famous for the Caxton Gibbet.
