RAF Bourn

Bourn Airport (IATA: n/a, ICAO: EGSN) is located 7 NM (13 km; 8.1 mi) west of Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England. The airfield was originally constructed during World War II as RAF Bourn and was principally used as a base for heavy bombers - Wellingtons, Stirlings and Lancasters were all based at Bourn at one time or another. Nowadays, the airfield is used for recreational use, and flight training has been provided by the Bourn Rural Flying Corps for in excess of 30 years. The airfield is owned by the Taylor Family.

Caldecote Meadows is a 9.1-hectare (22-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest in Caldecote in Cambridgeshire.The site is herb-rich calcareous grassland, which was formerly common in the county, but is now rare. It is traditionally managed by hay cutting and grazing, and plants include salad burnet and dropwort.The site is private land with no public access.

Hardwick Wood is a 15.5-hectare (38-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest southwest of Hardwick in Cambridgeshire. It is managed by the Wildlife Trust for Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire.This medieval wood is now managed by coppicing. It is mainly ash and field maple, while the oldest parts have pedunculate oak with an understorey of hazel and hawthorn, while ground flora include early-purple orchid and yellow archangel. There are birds such as willow warblers, marsh tits and blackcaps.There is access by footpath.

Cambourne is a new settlement and civil parish in Cambridgeshire, England, in the district of South Cambridgeshire. It lies on the A428 road between Cambridge, 9 miles (14 km) to the east, and St Neots and Bedford to the west. It comprises the three villages of Great Cambourne, Lower Cambourne and Upper Cambourne. The area is close to Bourn Airfield. Cambourne is the largest settlement in South Cambridgeshire, with a population of 12,350 in the 2021 UK census.

Childerley, also known as Great Childerley and Little Childerly, was a small rural village in the county of Cambridgeshire in the East of England, United Kingdom. The population is included in the civil parish of Caldecote.

Kingston and Bourn Old Railway or Kingston Amenity Area is a linear 1.9-hectare (4.7-acre) Local Nature Reserve between Kingston and Bourn in Cambridgeshire, England. It is owned and managed by Cambridgeshire County Council.The sides of this old railway bank are woodland, with ash, field maple and oak the main trees, while the top of the bank is unimproved grassland. There is also an area of wetland with mature pollarded willows.There is access from the B1046 road, which runs along its southern boundary.

Overhall Grove is a 17.4-hectare (43-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest to the east of Knapwell in Cambridgeshire. It is a Nature Conservation Review site, Grade II, and it is managed by the Wildlife Trust for Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire.This site is the largest elm woodland in the county. It was seriously affected by Dutch elm disease, but many trees have regenerated from their bases, and the mixture of new growth and dead wood provides a very good habitat for insects and birds. There are the remains of a medieval manor and moat at the northern end, and a family of badgers have unearthed pottery dating back to the eleventh century. The ecological value of the site is enhanced by a stream, ponds, clearings and rides.There is access by a footpath from Knapwell High Street.

Bourn is a small village and civil parish in South Cambridgeshire, England. Surrounding villages include Caxton, Eltisley and Cambourne. It is 8 miles (12 km) from the county town of Cambridge. The population of the parish was 1,015 at the time of the 2011 census.Bourn has a Church of England primary school, a doctors' surgery, the Church of St Mary & St Helena, a golf club, a former Royal Air Force bomber airfield (RAF Station Bourn 1940–1945), today used for light aircraft, and an old windmill. Bourn Hall Clinic, the centre for infertility treatment founded in 1980 by IVF pioneers Patrick Steptoe and Professor Robert Edwards, who were responsible for the conception in 1978 of Louise Brown, the world's first IVF or test-tube baby, is also located here. Since its foundation the clinic has assisted in the conception of more than 10,000 babies. A small stream called Bourn Brook runs through the village, eventually joining the River Cam.

Cambourne Nature Reserve is a 90 hectare nature reserve in Cambourne in Cambridgeshire. It is managed by the Wildlife Trust for Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire.This site has woodland, lakes, ponds, grassland and an orchard. The lakes and ponds have water voles and great crested newts, and birds include skylarks and corn buntings.The reserve occupies several different areas around Cambourne with a number of entrances.

Knapwell is a hamlet in Cambridgeshire situated about 10 miles (16 km) west of Cambridge. It is within the diocese of Ely. Its population was estimated at 110 in 2001. At the 2011 census the population had fallen to fewer than 100. Nearby villages include Boxworth, Conington, Elsworth and the expanding new settlement of Cambourne.
