The Sanatorium Purkersdorf was built as a sanatorium in Purkersdorf, Wien-Umgebung, Lower Austria. It was built in 1904-05 by the architect Josef Hoffmann for the industrialist Victor Zuckerkandl and is an example of the style of the Viennese Secession in architecture.

The Wienerwald Tunnel (German: Wienerwaldtunnel) is a 13.35-kilometre-long railway tunnel near Vienna, passing underneath the northern part of Wienerwald. It is part of a 250-kilometre-per-hour (160 mph) section between Vienna and St. Pölten which is part of Austria's Western Railway. The Wienerwald Tunnel was constructed as part of a major expansion of Austria's most important rail corridor, it was intentionally built as a measure to minimise gradients and facilitate high speed traffic, as well as for better accessibility to the newly constructed Wien Hauptbahnhof central station in Vienna. It is divided into two distinct sections, comprising a single bore accommodating a pair of tracks and two parallel bores each carrying a single track; it also meets up with several other neighbouring tunnels, including the Lainzer Tunnel. Construction of the Wienerwald Tunnel commenced in autumn 2004, largely relying on conventional methods. Breakthrough was achieved in early 2010, after which fitting out commenced. The tunnel has been in operational use since 9 December 2012.

The Lainzer Tiergarten is a 24.50 km² (6,054-acre) wildlife preserve in the southwest corner of Vienna, Austria, 80% of it being covered in woodland. It dates back to 1561, when Ferdinand I created it as a fenced-in hunting ground for his family to use. Since 1919, it has been open to the public. Its name consists of its location by the Lainz district of Vienna's 13th District, and Tiergarten, which means zoo (literally, "animal garden").

The Sandstein-Wienerwald natural park (Naturpark Sandsteinwienerwald) is a natural park near Purkersdorf in the Vienna Woods (Wienerwald), Austria. Although a protected area under Austrian law, it is freely accessible. The park's 77 hectare area is mostly covered by beech forest. Its highest point is the Rudolfshöhe (475 m), on whose top a lookout tower has been constructed. Another hill, the Schöffelstein (431 m) features a memorial to Josef Schöffel, who is remembered as the "saviour of the Vienna Woods" on account of his 1872 campaign to protect the woods from logging.Visitors' amenities in the park include a nature trail and a visitors' centre featuring expositions on topics of local interest. The park also includes an enclosure in which with deer and boars are kept, as well as a petting zoo.

Purkersdorf is a municipality in the district of Sankt Pölten-Land District, in the Austrian state of Lower Austria. The Sandstein-Wienerwald natural park, a part of the Vienna Woods, is situated on its territory. The municipality belonged to Wien-Umgebung District which was dissolved at the end of 2016.

In the west, it shares a border with Purkersdorf and Mauerbach. A large portion of the district is made up of greenery, including the Steinhof park, the Dehnepark and a portion of the Wienerwald.
