Prospect Village

Nun's Well is a spring just inside the village of Cannock Wood in Staffordshire, England, at the base of the Mercia Mudstone Group. There is no evidence that nuns ever lived there, and the name appears to originate in the grant of part of Cannock Chase by Henry II to a priory at Farewell. Slag remains, possibly of a bloomery, have been found there.

Cannock Wood is a village and civil parish in the Cannock Chase district of Staffordshire, England. The village is situated around 4 miles (6.4 km) east of Cannock, the same distance south of Rugeley, and 2 miles (3.2 km) north of Burntwood. According to the 2011 Census, the parish had a population of 1,031, a decrease from 1,052 in the 2001 Census.Cannock Wood makes up part of Cannock Chase which is a recognised Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Its mainly residential area is interspersed with open areas including various parks and public footpaths through the local countryside. The village hosts tourist attractions including Castle Ring, an ancient fort, and Nun's Well. Cannock Wood also hosts a general store, Dickinson's, and two pubs, The Park Gate Inn and The Redmore. There is also a village hall, a children's play area, a cricket club and a hairdressers. Most children living in Cannock Wood between the ages of 4 and 11 attend the primary school in the neighbouring hamlet of Gentleshaw.

Castle Ring is an Iron Age hill fort, situated high up on the southern edge of Cannock Chase (The Chase), Staffordshire, England. It is the highest point on The Chase with an elevation of 242 metres (794 feet). It is near the village of Cannock Wood, south of Rugeley and north of Burntwood, adjacent to the Heart of England Way. There are excellent views over The Chase, the Trent Valley and Staffordshire more generally.

Hazelslade is a former mining village in Staffordshire, England. It is now part of Cannock Chase District. The village is located between Hednesford and Rugeley. It has been built into the Rawnsley area of Hednesford and is now effectively a suburban village of Hednesford. The village has a post office, a freehouse and housing estates. There was also a former mineral railway which ran from Hednesford to Burntwood. It can be seen from Google Maps as rows of trees curving around the former mining village and parts of Cannock Chase District to the Chase Line. There is also a bus service which connects the village to Cannock and Burntwood. The nearest mainline railway station is Hednesford. The pub is also named the Hazelslade. The nearest churches are in Church Hill and Hednesford.

Norton Canes is an industrial village, civil parish and ward of Cannock Chase District, in Staffordshire, England. It is situated 3 miles (4.8 km) out of the centre of Cannock. At the 2001 census it had a population of 6,394, and an area of 3,746 acres (15.16 km2) of which 86% is green open space. The population had increased to 7,470 at the 2011 Census. Areas of the village include Little Norton, Little Wyrley, and North Lanes (Lime Lane). The Cannock Chase Coalfield once had 45 collieries within 2 miles (3.2 km) of Norton Canes, employing over 5,800 men, as well as 2 large surface mines; the last pit in the area closed in 1993. Grove Pit was one of these pits, and on 1 October 1930 was the scene of a major tragedy when 14 miners were killed in an explosion there.Another local colliery was owned by the Jerome family, hence Jerome Road now on the site of the pit. This was the family of the author Jerome K. Jerome. Norton Canes borders Chasewater - a collection of man-made lakes formed through old mining pits and a reservoir that feeds the canal system of West Midlands. Chasewater is a popular leisure destination offering facilities for water-skiing and yachting, mountain biking, jogging, walking and bird watching. Norton Canes straddles the UK's first and only Toll Motorway, the M6 Toll which has its northern Toll Plaza and Norton Canes Services is the only services for that motorway. Norton Canes was home to Europe's first drive-through chemist. This is now closed as the chemist has moved into the local health centre located in Brownhills Road.

Gentleshaw Common is an area of common land situated in Gentleshaw on the northern side of Burntwood in Staffordshire, England. The area is a Site of Special Scientific Interest as it is an area of globally rare lowland heathland. The common plays host to a series of fun public events throughout the year, including scrub bashing and countryside walks.

Gentleshaw is a village and hamlet in Staffordshire located about 5.8 miles (9.3 km) from Lichfield and about 6.3 miles (10.1 km) from Rugeley, and about 2.3 miles (3.7 km) north of Burntwood. Although it is now part of Longdon civil parish, it has a Parish Church and a primary school. Population details as taken at the 2011 census can be found under Longdon. Gentleshaw Common is a Site of Special Scientific Interest on the south-west side of the church, and forms the south westerly part of The Chase.

Littleworth is an area of Cannock Chase District, Staffordshire, England. The area is mainly residential and industrial. It is located between Wimblebury and Hazelslade. There is a bus service that connects the area with Cannock and Burntwood. The nearest railway station is in Cannock. There is also traces of the former mineral line which ran through the area to Norton Junction from the Chase Line. It is traceable from Nelson Drive and can be seen on Google Maps as a row of trees.

Chasewater Heaths is a heritage railway station on the Chasewater Railway in Burntwood, Staffordshire. It has station building facilities, including a cafe; and a recently rebuilt signal box. To the west is Norton Lakeside Halt and to the east is the terminus, Chasetown (Church Street). The station was constructed in 2000 as part of the extension of the line, that was undertaken following the construction of the M6 Toll Motorway.

The Chasewater Railway is a former colliery railway running round the shores of Chasewater in Staffordshire, England. It is now operated as a heritage railway. The line is approximately 2 miles (3.2 km) in length, contained entirely within Chasewater Country Park. The route, which forms a horse-shoe shape around the lake, passes through heathland, including a Site of Special Scientific Interest, and passes over a 1⁄4-mile (0.40 km) long causeway.

Hednesford Hills Raceway (often referred to as Hednesford Raceway) is an oval, short-circuit motor racing venue, situated on Cannock Chase, approximately 1-mile (1.6 km) from the town of Hednesford, Staffordshire, England and is operated by Incarace Ltd.

Chase Terrace is an area in the town of Burntwood in Staffordshire, England. Chase Terrace began as a mining village in the 1860s with mines at the south side of Cannock Road. By 1884 Chase Terrace had gained a population of nearly 2,000. By 1959 all of the mines in the village had closed, by 1971 the population doubled as many people from Birmingham and the Black Country moved to Burntwood. Sankeys Corner became the commercial centre of Chase Terrace with an industrial estate, shopping centre and a market by 1970. A library and parish council were added by 1987. The area is the location of Chase Terrace Academy (formerly Chase Terrace High School).
