Fairdale is a former census-designated place in southern Jefferson County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 7,658 at the 2000 census. In 2003, the area was annexed to the city of Louisville due to a merger between the city and Jefferson County's unincorporated community. Fairdale is now a neighborhood within the city limits of Louisville. The ZIP Code for Fairdale is 40118.It is within the boundaries of the Fairdale Fire Protection District, which serves Fairdale and surrounding areas, including the large Jefferson Memorial Forest.

Louisville Motor Speedway was a 3/8-mile race track located in Louisville, Kentucky. It was opened in 1988. Louisville Motor Speedway hosted 5 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series races from 1995 to 1999. Also hosted 2 NASCAR Busch Series events, one in 1988 and the other in 1989. The track hosted 7 NASCAR Southeast Series events from 1995 to 2001. ARCA Racing Series ran 3 races at the speedway between 1994 and 1996. The speedway also hosted one ASA National Tour event in 2000. USAR Hooters Pro Cup Series also ran one event at the facility in 2001. Renegades TNT Motorsports Monster Truck Challenge had run at the track from 1988 to 1990 and United States Hot Rod Association Super Bowl of Motorsport in 1992 and 1993. On Friday nights, the track hosted a Sportsman division which were similar to Camaros and they had Figure-8s. Saturday night, LMS hosted Mini-Trucks, Street Stocks and Late Models. Keith Gardner was a 4-time champion in the Late Models from 1991 to 1994, and Bill Kimmel Jr. was Late Model champion from 1995 to 1998. Bill Kimmel Jr. is the brother of 10-time ARCA Champion Frank Kimmel. He was Franks's crew chief in the ARCA Racing Series division. He is now the sole owner of Kimmel Racing in which his son, Will Kimmel, is the primary driver of the team. Many Celebrity Announcers like Ken Stout, Scott Douglass, Army Armstrong, and Marty Reid got their start at the track. Current Monster Jam competition director, announcer/director for the announcing team, Douglass also was the general manager from 1997 to 1999 at the track. The track was closed and demolished shortly after Kentucky Speedway opened. The site is now home to an industrial park.

South Park View is a home rule-class city in Jefferson County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 0 at the 2020 census. The community was named for its location near South Park Hill, elevation 902 feet (275 m), the highest point in Jefferson County. It is the smallest incorporated city in the commonwealth of Kentucky and one of nine incorporated places in the U.S. that have no recorded population.

Auburndale is a neighborhood in Louisville, Kentucky, United States. Its boundaries are Palatka Road to the north, and New Cut Road and Third Street to the east. The area was originally a part of Isaac H. Fenley's farm, called Hickory Grove, which was 1,100 acres (4 km2) in size by 1879. Developer W.E. Stonestreet purchased and began to subdivide part of the farm in 1907, but the area was not fully developed until the 1960s when the city annexed the area, and developers promoted Auburndale's proximity to Iroquois Park, which is located on the other side of Palatka Road. The current president of the Auburndale Neighborhood Association is Kenneth Williams, a lifelong resident of the community.

The Valley of the Drums is a 23-acre (9.3 hectare) toxic waste site near Brooks in northern Bullitt County, Kentucky, near Louisville, named after the waste-containing drums strewn across the area. After it had been collecting waste since the 1960s, the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) analyzed the property and creek in 1979, finding high levels of heavy metals, polychlorinated biphenyls, and some 140 other chemical substances. It is known as one of the primary motivations for the passage of the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act, or Superfund Act of 1980. While the widely publicized Love Canal disaster is often credited as the reason the Superfund law was passed, Love Canal activist Lois Gibbs has said that Love Canal looked like a suburban community, while "Valley of the Drums became the visualization of the problem." Officially, cleanup began at the site in 1983 and ended in 1990, though later problems have been reported and investigated.

WGHL (105.1 MHz) is a commercial FM radio station licensed to Shepherdsville, Kentucky, and broadcasting to the Louisville metropolitan area. It airs an alternative rock radio format and it is owned by Alpha Media. It carries the nationally syndicated Woody Show in morning drive time from KYSR Los Angeles. WGHL's studios are on Shelbyville Road in Downtown Louisville. WGHL has an effective radiated power (ERP) of 1,900 watts. The transmitter tower is on Top Hill Road in the Jefferson Memorial Forest in Fairdale.

Kenwood Hill is a hill and neighborhood on the south side of Louisville, Kentucky, United States. Its boundaries are New Cut Road, Kenwood Drive, Southside Drive and Palatka Road. The hill, earlier known as Sunshine Hill and then Cox's Knob, was used by Native Americans to spot buffalo. By 1868 Benoni Figg owned the area as a part of his charcoal business. His family oversaw development on the land until it was sold in 1890 to a development company which named the area Kenwood Hill. Southern Parkway (initially called Grand Boulevard) was opened soon after in 1893. In 1893, Kenwood Hill residents Patty and Mildred J. Hill composed the song "Good Morning to All", which was to become "Happy Birthday to You". While wealthy Louisvillians built summer homes in the area, and the first subdivision did not begin until 1942, the neighborhood was widely developed by the 1960s, so much so that extensive work was needed to halt erosion on the hill in the 1980s.

The Little Loomhouse is a place on the National Register of Historic Places in the Kenwood Hill neighborhood on the south side of Louisville, Kentucky. It consists of three cabins constructed between 1870 and 1896: Esta Cabin, Tophouse, and Wisteria Cabin. It not only displays weavings, but has active education and resident artist programs. The organization participates in several local festivals, giving demonstrations of spinning, dyeing, and weaving. It is the biggest repository of original and classic textile patterns in the United States.Among the history of the cabins have been the visits of past First Ladies of the United States, and the composition of the song "Happy Birthday to You".

WAMZ (97.5 FM) is a commercial radio station in Louisville, Kentucky. It airs a country music format and is owned by iHeartMedia The studios are in the central part of Watterson Park. WAMZ carries two nationally syndicated radio programs: The Bobby Bones Show in morning drive time and After Midnite with Granger Smith overnights. WAMZ is a Class C station with an effective radiated power (ERP) of 100,000 watts. (Most Louisville FM stations are Class B or A, with only a fraction of that power.) The transmitter site is on Brooks Hill Road in Brooks, Kentucky. WAMZ broadcasts using HD Radio technology. Its HD2 digital subchannel carries a format known as "Halloween Radio."
